The long-haired young man looked at Leo with an intriguing expression and sneered, “Kid, do you have a death wish, asking Mr. Donne to apologize to you?”
Just as he was about to teach Leo a lesson, he was held back by a guy next to him.
The man who held the long-haired young man had been at the restaurant that day, so he witnessed how Leo took Mr. Donne down.
Hearing what his companion whispered in his ear, the long-haired young man’s expression became uncertain. He didn’t dare to act recklessly against Leo at the moment.
At this awkward stalemate, Gerald Donne walked in.
Today, he was dressed in a Versace suit, and his hair was carefully styled, giving him a somewhat handsome appearance.
The only flaw was his right hand, which was wrapped in thick gauze.
“Mr. Donne, hello,” Lily greeted him first.
Gerald glanced at Lily and nodded slightly. He showed some grace.
“Mr. Donne, I didn’t expect you to be here. How about this, I’ll treat you and your friends to a meal as a thank you for your support and guidance over the years. What do you think?” Lily’s expression became somewhat flattering.
Lillian, Max’s parents, and their friends all heard Lily’s words and secretly nodded their heads.
Judging from this statement alone, Lily’s work performance was commendable.
Since someone was offering to pay the bill, Gerald naturally agreed. But just as he was about to accept the invitation, he noticed Leo standing in front of the long-haired young man.
Then, the aloofness on Gerald’s face disappeared, replaced by a fawning smile as he quickly walked up to Leo.
Max also stood beside Leo, thinking that Gerald wanted to shake his hand, so he reached out his right hand eagerly. However, Gerald seemed not to notice him at all and brushed past his right hand, walking up to Leo.
“Mr. Bloomer, nice to meet you. I didn’t expect to encounter you here,” Gerald greeted with courtesy.
This greeting hit Max and his parents like lightning. They wondered if they had misheard it.
Did Gerald just call Leo Mr. Bloomer?
When did this freeloading loser become a mister?
This must be an illusion!
Lily hurried to Gerald, asking in an uncertain tone, “Mr. Donne, do you know Leo?”
Gerald also ignored Lily and turned his gaze to Sophia, smiling, “Hello!”
Sophia vividly remembered this man who sent her wine, attempted to flirt with her, and ended up getting stabbed by a fork by Leo. She had no good impression of him whatsoever. But she just nodded politely, not wanting to create a scene in front of everyone.
If Gerald said hello to Leo, it could be explained that he mistook Leo for someone else. But when he greeted Sophia as well, it was clear he wasn’t confusing people.
Max and Lily stood there, completely stiff. Lily’s little mouth was wide open like an “O.”
She couldn’t believe that the Henley family’s worthless son-in-law actually knew Gerald, and Gerald was being so polite to him!
“Gerald Donne, you interrupted my dinner,” Leo’s tone was slightly displeased.
Gerald turned around and slapped the long-haired young man’s face, scolding, “How can you be so incompetent? I told you to find a private room, and you dare to disturb Mr. Bloomer’s dinner!?”
The long-haired young man held his cheek, looking wronged. He thought, “How the hell was I supposed to know this was Mr. Bloomer!?”
Gerald’s slap on the long-haired young man’s face felt like a slap to Max and the others’ hearts. Leo’s mere words made Gerald harshly discipline the guy he brought along. It showed how much Gerald valued Leo.
“Mr. Bloomer, I’m sorry. I’ve been wanting to apologize to you since what happened at the restaurant. Today, I happen to meet you. Can you give me a chance to apologize over a meal?” Gerald put on a humble facade.
For someone holding the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon Supreme Card, Gerald didn’t have the courage to offend him, even if he had ten thousand guts.
Once he offended the cardholder, his current comfortable life would be ruined.
Gerald had worked hard to get to his current position, and he couldn’t possibly give up everything he had achieved.
To have something and then lose it was more painful than never having it at all.
“You don’t have a chance today. I’m full already. Give me your business card. If I feel hungry and remember you, I’ll contact you,” Leo’s words were like a resounding slap to Max and the others.
In the past, Max had tried to invite Gerald to dinner several times to help Lily get a promotion, but he had been unsuccessful. Now, Gerald was eagerly trying to invite Leo to dinner, asking if he had time. This made Max feel an urge to vomit blood.
Gerald quickly took out a business card and handed it to Leo with both hands.
“Thank you, Mr. Bloomer. I really want to treat you to a meal and sincerely apologize. Mr. Bloomer, please give me this opportunity to make amends.”
Seeing Gerald bowing and fawning in front of Leo, Lily couldn’t help but mentally switch roles, recalling how she had been bowing and fawning in front of Gerald.
If not for the presence of so many people, she really wanted to cry her heart out.
“Mr. Bloomer, I won’t bother you any longer,” Gerald said, glancing at Lily, “Lily, you… you should have told me earlier that you know Mr. Bloomer.”
Gerald seemed to imply something in his words, and Lily picked up on it immediately. Her somewhat gloomy mood suddenly brightened again.
Leo just uttered, “Mr. Donne, don’t think too much. Lily and I aren’t close.”
After saying that, Leo took Sophia’s hand and said, “Let’s go.”
“Goodbye, Mr. Bloomer.” Gerald thought about giving Lily a further promotion. Now, it seemed unnecessary. If needed, he could even take away her position as a sales manager.
As they watched Leo walk away, Max and the others felt as though they had been slapped hard in the face.
Watching Leo’s departing figure, Lily hurriedly said to Gerald, “Mr. Donne, Leo is my brother-in-law…”
Before Lily could finish her words, Gerald had already turned and left.
“Oh no,” Lily sighed in her heart.
Lily had always enjoyed reading urban romance novels, and in her worldview, the underdog’s triumphant comeback only existed in fiction. But what happened today showed her that life can be even more exciting than fiction.
Walking out of the hotel, Sophia pulled her hand free from Leo’s grasp.
