Chapter 79: Plan for the Long Term

“Of course, there are exceptions to everything. Some cultivators’ sects cultivate their influence in the secular world to gain resources. For instance, some major corporations have the shadow of cultivators behind them.”
“Some unaffiliated cultivators prefer the bustling life of the city and work as bodyguards for the wealthy. Others cooperate with government agencies and become elite special forces, carrying out extremely difficult missions.”
“These cultivator sects, does the government not take any action against them?” Leo asked, puzzled.
“It’s not that they don’t take action, but they can’t control them. These cultivator sects are deeply hidden and have intricate connections with wealthy corporations in the secular world. Moreover, they are quite powerful. The government would pay a high price if they tried to eliminate them.”
“Additionally, these cultivator sects easily hold deep grudges. If the government wants to destroy a sect, it’s better to eradicate it completely. If any members survive, they will face crazy retaliation, even mass extermination without considering the consequences. Many government officials are aware of this, so they generally adopt a policy of appeasement towards the cultivator sects.”
“Of course, the cultivator sects don’t actively provoke the government either. Usually, they maintain cooperation. Over the years, they have coexisted peacefully.”
Listening to Nicola’s words, Leo pondered for a moment and nodded. It seemed that this world wasn’t as simple as it appeared.
“So, are there different levels of strength among cultivators?” Leo asked again.
Nicola replied, “Yes, cultivators have nine realms of strength: Warrior, Martial Artist, Grand Martial Artist, Warlord, Martial King, Martial Ancestor, Martial Saint, and Martial God. Martial God is considered a legendary realm. Each major realm is further divided into three tiers: upper, middle, and lower.”
Leo was surprised to find that it was similar to the classification of spiritual power levels.
“What do you think? What realm is that Rex from today?” Leo asked Nicola.
Nicola shook her head. “I can’t tell for sure, but he shouldn’t be lower than a lower tier Warrior.”
Leo looked at Nicola curiously. “How do you know so much?”
“What’s so strange about it? My grandpa is a cultivator,” Nicola said casually.
“Does that mean your father is a cultivator too? Are you a cultivator as well?” Leo’s curious gaze turned astonished.
Nicola laughed, “You’re thinking too much. Becoming a cultivator is not like buying cabbage at the market. It’s not that simple. Whether one can become a cultivator depends on whether they have a Martial Root.”
“Martial Root? What’s that?”
“I’m not entirely sure, but it’s something like talent. My grandpa wanted to train me as a cultivator, but I lack Martial Root, and I’m not interested in becoming a cultivator, so it ends with my grandpa.”
Nicola looked at Leo speculatively and said, “Leo, based on your fight with Rex today, you should be a cultivator, right?”
Leo wasn’t a cultivator, but he couldn’t explain his abilities to Nicola, so he could only nod.
“You’ve offended Carey. You should be careful from now on. Their family probably has cultivators backing them up,” Nicola warned with concern.
Leo nodded, thinking to himself, “I need to quickly improve my strength, so I can protect the people around me and deal with those cultivators.”
“Oh, my turtle is still in the parking lot!” Leo suddenly remembered the white jade turtle.
Nicola chuckled, “You treated that turtle like a treasure when we were dining at the restaurant. You even offended those second-generation heirs for it. Of course, I had to bring it back for you. Your precious turtle is in the kitchen sink now.”
Leo couldn’t help but give Nicola a thumbs-up. “Clever girl! I’ll make some turtle soup for you later.”
“You can cook?” Nicola looked surprised.
“Of course, I have four years of experience in cooking,” Leo said matter-of-factly.
Indeed, during his four years with the Henley family, he was mostly responsible for the family’s daily meals.
Nicola chuckled, “Don’t kid around. Cooking doesn’t require clinical experience.”
“Where’s the nearest Chinese herbal medicine shop?” Leo asked.
“There’s one nearby. Why do you need a Chinese herbal medicine shop? Don’t you just buy groceries at the market for cooking?” Nicola was puzzled.
Leo got up from the sofa, teasing, “I have my own plans. Just wait for dinner.”
After saying that, Leo left the apartment.
Meanwhile, at a hospital, in a separate ward, four people stood around a hospital bed.
“Jason, once I recover, I’ll personally tear that guy to pieces!”
Rex lay on the bed, wrapped in bandages, looking like a mummy.
His expression was fierce, showing intense hatred towards Leo.
The man named Jason had a flat-top haircut and a square face. He had a composed demeanor, and deep anger flashed in his eyes as he looked at Rex on the bed.
“Rex, it’s my fault this time. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have suffered such severe injuries,” Carey said, looking at Rex’s miserable state on the hospital bed, filled with remorse.
“Carey, don’t say that. It’s my own choice to help you,” Rex said with a touch of guilt while looking at Carey.
“Rex, you just have a good rest and recover soon. We’ll handle your it. Whoever dared to go this far against the Fiery Blaze Clan won’t be forgiven. But before we act, we need to be cautious,” Jason said.
“Jason?” Rex didn’t quite understand what he meant.
Carey was also puzzled. Rex had been severely injured, and they should be seeking revenge against Leo immediately.
“Leo Bloomer was able to inflict such severe injuries on Rex, indicating that this guy is not simple. His strength is at least at the middle to upper tier of the Warrior realm. In the secular world, that makes him a strong rival, and he probably has a powerful sect backing him. Before we fully understand his identity, we shouldn’t act rashly, you know?” Jason said in a serious tone.
Hearing this, everyone agreed and nodded; it was a thoughtful plan.
If Leo was indeed from a powerful cultivator sect, the conflict would escalate into a battle between sects, and that was no small matter. They needed to plan for the long term.
“Besides, we have another important matter to attend to at the moment.”

On the other side, Leo had already found the shop that Nicola mentioned.
The store wasn’t very big, but it had a wide selection of medicinal herbs.
The owner took out a twenty-year-old wild ginseng as if it were a precious treasure. Without any hesitation, Leo bought it on the spot.
One hundred thousand yuan!
After giving Sophia eight million yuan and obtaining one million yuan for Coral’s grandfather’s treatment, Leo still had 24 million yuan in his bank account. So, spending a hundred thousand yuan was nothing to him.
