Seeing Leo remain silent, Coral couldn’t help but ask, “What are you thinking? Do you think the consultation fee is too low?”
“No, I was just thinking that you’re so rich and beautiful, and I wish I were a robber,” Leo joked.
“A robber?” Coral didn’t quite understand.
“Yeah, so I could rob your wealth and your body,” Leo replied with a mischievous smile.
“Hey, keep your thoughts healthy. Remember, I’m your boss, and be careful I don’t fire you if I’m not happy!” Coral’s tone carried a threat, but her face still held a smile.
Leo quickly chuckled, “Just kidding.”
“Oh, by the way, there’s a book titled ‘A Comprehensive View of Gambling Stones’ in the drawer in front of you. You can take it back and read it to increase your professional knowledge,” Coral said.
Leo opened the car drawer in front of him and found a thick book. He casually flipped through it.
“Where do you want to go now?” Coral asked.
Leo thought for a moment and said, “Take me to the bank. I want to deposit the money.”
After around ten minutes, the Land Rover stopped on the side of the road outside the bank. Leo got out of the car, and Coral drove away.
Touching the check in his pocket, Leo walked into the bank.
The bank’s front door was closed, but not locked, so Leo pushed it open.
As he entered the hall, Leo suddenly felt that something was off.
The entire hall was eerily quiet, with everyone crouching on the ground, holding their heads with their hands, and wearing terrified expressions.
Was this a movie shoot or some kind of drill?
Leo began to suspect he had walked into the wrong place.
Just as he thought about turning around and leaving, he felt something cold pressed against the back of his head.
“Kid, put your hands on your head and crouch down, or I’ll blow your brains out!” A man’s voice sounded behind Leo.
Leo sighed internally; he never expected to encounter a bank robbery in real life.
With his current abilities, he probably couldn’t dodge bullets, so he had no choice but to crouch down like the others, with his hands on his head.
There were four robbers in total, all wearing black leather jackets with gray headgear that covered three holes, leaving only their eyes and mouths visible.
The guy who had held a gun to Leo’s head just now was a chubby man. His most noticeable feature was his belly, which looked like he was seven or eight months pregnant.
Leo couldn’t help but glance at him.
“What are you looking at?” The chubby man tried to sound menacing.
Leo quickly lowered his head.
The other three robbers had already entered the teller booths and were stuffing money into woven bags.
The chubby man held his gun, scanning the entire hall, and coldly said, “Don’t be afraid, as long as you cooperate, we won’t hurt you. We are professional robbers; we don’t kill during robberies.”
“Fatso, time is running out. Come in and get the money!” The leader of the robbers shouted.
“Boss, the hall is crowded, and I can’t afford to be distracted. In Hong Kong movies, bank robbers always have a lookout to prevent anyone from making a move. As long as I’m here, these guys won’t dare to call the police and will stick to their posts. It’s a professional conduct for every robber!” The chubby man spoke confidently and righteously.
The robber leader burst out laughing, “Professional conduct, f**k your mother! You better hurry up and grab the money, or you won’t get a share later!”
“Bro, come on! You’re my brother-in-law, and you insulted my mom. I’m gonna tell my sister about it!” The chubby guy argued.
“Shut your mouth!” The head of the gang couldn’t stand his foolish little brother-in-law anymore; he wished he had left him waiting in the car.
“Is everything ready?” The gang leader asked the other two guys.
“Yeah, boss, all set with four sacks!” The two replied.
“No time to waste, each one carries a bag, let’s go!” The gang leader hoisted one of the sacks and rushed towards the bank’s exit.
The other two gang members followed suit, each carrying a sack.
The chubby guy stayed behind, grabbed Leo by the collar, and pointed the gun at his head. “Congratulations, kid, you’ve become a lucky audience member here. We’re leaving now, and from a professional standpoint, hostages are essential. You’ll have to come with us.”
Outside the bank, a white van was parked by the roadside, and the gang leader and the other two had already gotten in. The chubby guy was slow in his actions, and holding a hostage added up to the difficulty for him. After stuffing Leo into the van, he was panting heavily.
The gang leader started the car, but in the rearview mirror, he saw the chubby guy bringing a hostage. He angrily said, “What the hell made you grab a hostage?”
“Boss, before today’s operation, I reviewed all the classic bank heist scenes. They all involve taking hostages. In case the cops come after us, having a hostage gives us leverage.” The chubby guy explained confidently.
The gang leader was speechless. “So where’s the sack of money you were supposed to bring?”
“Oh, I was so focused on this kid that I forgot to take the money. I’ll go get it now!” The chubby man said as he moved to get out of the car.
“Damn it, if you weren’t my brother-in-law, I would’ve killed you long ago!” The leader of the robbers put the car in gear, released the clutch, and stepped on the accelerator, and the van roared away.
The sound of police sirens had already started, and as the van left the bank, three or four police cars arrived at the scene. One of the police cars stayed behind to handle the situation, while the other two chased after the van.
This van had been modified and was quite fast. In the hands of the leading robber, it maneuvered like a fish, running through red lights and heading for the outskirts of the city.
Several times, the van almost shook off the trailing police cars.
“Boss, they are closing in. What do we do?” One of the robbers in the passenger seat asked.
“Don’t worry; once we’re out of the city, we’re free. I had the engine of this van modified by Monkey; it’s 3. 0T, and you’ll get to experience the feeling of flying in a moment.” The leader of the robbers pressed harder on the accelerator.
The van sped up again.
In the back of the van, Leo’s mind was racing as he considered whether he could take down the four robbers.
He knew very well that once these robbers got away from the police, the first thing they would do was to deal with him.
Because these guys had taken off their headgear after getting in the van, and he had seen their faces.
So, he was certain that they would kill him to silence him.
The only threat he felt was the robber’s gun pressed against his head.
This stupid chubby man, he was acting so “professionally” that he had never let go of the gun against his head. Leo was genuinely afraid that the gun would accidentally fire and blow his brains out.
The robber leader was skilled at driving, and before long, they reached the outskirts of the city and entered a secondary road.
