Leo tried again and found that he could now move objects within a three-meter range. This ability surprised him because he had only seen such things in TV shows and movies, thinking they were impossible in real life. But now, it was real and happening to him.
As Leo took out his phone to check the time, he realized that it had run out of battery and automatically shut down. Feeling hungry, he wondered how long he had been practicing inside the warehouse.
Exiting the warehouse, Leo took the elevator to the sixth floor, where he now had full access without blocking. The layout of the gem consultant’s office was similar to Coral’s, equipped like those of company executives.
Leo charged his phone and then went to Coral’s office, only to find it locked. The offices of other executives were also locked.
“Is today a weekend or something?” he thought to himself as he checked his phone and confirmed that it was indeed the weekend. Three days had unknowingly passed since he entered the warehouse on Thursday afternoon.
The phone’s message alerts started to ring continuously – missed calls from Sophia, Jessica, and Harry. Leo called Sophia first.
Sophia’s voice was cold as she said, “Leo, I thought you’d never show up again.”
“I…” Leo tried to explain.
“No need to explain. Just call my mom. She’s worried about you,” Sophia said before hanging up.
His mother-in-law was worried about him? A real surprise!
Leo called Jessica next.
“Leo, your phone was off for three days. You’re getting more and more capable, disappearing like that,” Jessica’s voice sounded calm, but Leo knew that the calmer she sounded, the angrier she was.
“Mom, I…” Leo tried to explain.
“What ‘Mom’ me? I heard from Sophia that you want to divorce her, is that true?” Jessica’s voice grew colder.
“Leo, do you not understand your status? You married into the Henley family. We not only paid for your grandmother’s medical expenses but also fed you for four years. Ask yourself, do you have the right to ask for a divorce? Let me make it clear to you today. Only if my daughter chooses to divorce you can it happen. You can disappear for ten or even a thousand years, but don’t ever think about divorcing!” Jessica’s anger intensified as she spoke.
“You think you’re special just because you learned some medical skills? Do you think you can soar to the sky and stand shoulder to shoulder with the sun? Fine, from now on, you can prove yourself by not taking a single penny from us! If you don’t want to come back home, then never come back, and it’s even better if you die outside!” Jessica furiously hung up the phone.
Leo looked at the phone and shook his head with a wry smile. His mother-in-law seemed to be experiencing menopause; her temper was getting worse.
He called Harry next.
“Mr. Bloomer, is something wrong? I couldn’t reach you on the phone,” Harry asked with concern.
“My phone was broken these two days, but I just got a new one. What’s up, Mr. Toby?” Leo replied.
“There’s something. My friend’s father hasn’t been feeling well lately, and he’d like you to do a check-up for him. Are you available?” Harry inquired.
“When?” Leo asked.
“Today is the weekend. How about right now? I’ll come to pick you up,” Harry suggested.
“Alright, in an hour, let’s meet at No. 3 Youth Road,” Leo agreed.
An hour later, Leo got into Harry’s Mercedes S-Class.
They drove to the outskirts and, after about half an hour, arrived at a lake.
This was a tourist spot called Fishing Moon Lake, rumored to be where the moon fell in ancient times. Immortals fished it out, thus earning its name, Fishing Moon Lake.
After another ten minutes or so, a large courtyard came into Leo’s view.
“My friend’s father lives there,” Harry pointed ahead.
The car stopped at the gate, and a tall, sharp-eyed security guard stood on the left side of the gate.
The guard saluted first and then asked, “Hello, whom are you looking for?”
“Please notify your employer that Harry is here to see Phil,” Harry replied.
“Sure, please wait a moment,” the guard said, then entered the guard booth to make a call for permission.
Soon, he returned and opened the gate with a gesture. “Mr. Toby, please come in.”
As they entered, an open parking lot appeared, and lush greenery lined the sides of the wide asphalt road. Shortly after, artificial hills, flowing water, pavilions, and terraces came into view.
This place didn’t feel like a residence but more like a garden.
Rich people lived in a different world.
The car stopped in front of a villa.
Harry got out first and said, “Mr. Bloomer, we’re here. Let’s go inside.”
As Leo stepped out, he took a deep breath of the fresh air here. Undeniably, the air was much better than in the city, and he could sense a trace of spiritual energy.
The overall layout of this place should have employed feng shui knowledge.
As Leo and Harry approached the entrance, a middle-aged man came out of the villa to greet them.
“Harry, you finally came. Where’s the fantastic doctor you mentioned?” The man’s gaze first fell on Harry before glancing at Leo with doubt. In his eyes, this young man must be Harry’s driver.
“He’s right here.” Harry smiled and pointed at Leo. “This is the one I mentioned, Leo Bloomer, the marvelous doctor.”
“Doctor Bloomer?” The man looked at Leo again, his face filled with skepticism. “Harry, stop kidding. There’s no young doctor practicing traditional Chinese medicine like him. He’s your driver, isn’t he?”
“Phil, don’t underestimate him. He cured my grandfather’s illness and also healed my wife and daughter. He’s the real deal,” Harry said with conviction.
“Mr. Wilde, hello,” Leo extended his hand.
After a brief moment of surprise, Phil Wilde shook Leo’s hand. He knew Harry well enough to know that he wouldn’t joke about something as serious as medical treatment.
“Harry, Dr. Bloomer, please come inside,” Phil gestured.
