“Mr. Bloomer, you see, if the police come, things will get complicated…” Gerald pleaded with Leo, his eyes filled with hope.
Leo took Sophia’s hand and said, “Let’s go.”
Outside, Sophia broke free from Leo’s grip, her face showing a half-smile, half-smirk expression. “Leo, I really couldn’t tell that you are so cunning. Did you plan all this from the beginning?”
“You could say that. I was actually taking a gamble to see how powerful this card really is,” Leo replied truthfully, raising the golden dragon card in his hand.
“Hmph, you figure it out for yourself. Don’t think that helping someone and getting a card can elevate you to the sky. This world is not as simple as you think,” Sophia said, her favor towards Leo diminishing because of the card. Ultimately, Leo had used the power behind that woman named Renee.
“I have to go to the office now. You can head home on your own,” Sophia said, leaving in a taxi.
Leo put the card back into his wallet, contemplating calling Coral to find out the results of the gemstone appraisal.
However, at that moment, a guy with dyed yellow hair appeared in front of Leo.
“Kid, we, Scar, want to have a chat with you,” the guy with yellow hair said, glancing at Leo with a sneer.
“Not interested,” Leo tried to walk away.
The guy with yellow hair moved his right hand, and a spring-loaded knife popped out: “Are you interested now?”
Leo thought about finishing this guy off with one kick, but then he decided that it might be wiser to follow him. Dealing with one fly might not be as effective as getting rid of all the flies at once.
Leo was taken by the guy with yellow hair to a secluded alley.
“Scar, he is here,” the guy with yellow hair shouted.
Immediately, five men appeared in front of Leo, each holding a steel pipe.
The leader was a slightly overweight man with a large gold chain around his neck and a black leather jacket. He had a scar on his left cheek, which probably earned him the nickname “Scar.”
Scar walked up to Leo, eyeing him arrogantly, then removed the cigarette from his mouth and flicked the ashes gracefully.
“Kid, do you know why we are looking for you?” Scar decided to intimidate Leo before getting physical.
“I have no idea,” Leo shrugged innocently.
Scar blew a smoke ring and said, “Think carefully, have you offended someone you shouldn’t have?”
“I can’t remember,” Leo replied.
A muscle twitched on Scar’s face, “Kid, aren’t you afraid of me?”
“Why should I be afraid of you?”
“Haha, good answer.” Scar’s smile turned unpleasant. He stepped back and said, “Boys, take care of him. Show him why he should be afraid of me.”
The men Scar brought began to attack Leo with their steel pipes, surrounding him.
One of them moved first, waved a steel pipe at Leo’s shoulder. He didn’t dare to aim for the head, as Scar had ordered to have some fun and avoid accidentally killing him.
Leo shifted his body slightly, evading the steel pipe, and then swiftly kicked the guy. His movement was as fast as lightening.
The first man flew backward, his steel pipe falling to the ground with a loud thud.
“Damn, get him together!” The four of them, including the guy with yellow hair, attacked Leo simultaneously.
Scar leaned against the wall, enjoying his cigarette, as he waited for his men to bring Leo down so he could personally break Leo’s leg.
However, to Scar’s astonishment, one after another, his men fell to the ground, crying out in pain.
The entire process lasted less than a minute, and Scar hadn’t even finished his cigarette.
Seeing Leo approaching him with a steel pipe in hand, Scar felt a twinge of fear. This kid could fight!
But Scar was a street-smart person, and even though Leo was strong, he wasn’t afraid. As they said, fortune favors the brave. So Scar picked up the machete he had brought.
“Who sent you here?” Leo asked coldly.
“Once I break your leg, you’ll find out!” Scar spat out his cigarette and swung the machete towards Leo.
With a swift motion, Leo knocked the machete out of Scar’s hand, and then a flash of white light passed before Scar’s eyes. Next, he felt excruciating pain in his thigh.
“Ah! My leg!”
Scar fell to the ground, holding his thigh in agony, tears and snot streaming down his face.
Leo crouched down, gesturing with the steel pipe on Scar’s other thigh, “Tell me, who sent you?”
Scar didn’t doubt for a second that Leo would swing the steel pipe at his other leg. He endured the pain and said, “Colby William sent me to cripple your leg!”
“Colby William?” Leo was taken aback. He didn’t remember this guy.
“Who is Colby William?”
“What? You don’t know?” Scar was surprised. Leo was really fearless, not even knowing who he offended.
“Colby William is one of the young masters of the William Group, ranking the third, and the general manager of the Star Reach Real Estate,” Scar said in one breath.
Leo began to recall and had a faint impression. It should be the guy he had kicked down when he was taking advantage of Sophia last night.
Leo dropped the steel pipe on the ground, clapped his hands, and stood up. “Tell him that he’d better not let me see him again, or I might make him no longer a man anymore.”
Watching Leo leave, Scar felt like he had spilled his five-flavor bottle, experiencing a range of unpleasant feelings. Wasn’t this Leo guy supposed to be a loser, a leech living off women?
Damn, he can really fight!
Ouch, my leg seems to be broken.
Shortly after leaving the alley, Leo’s phone rang. It was Coral calling.
“Hello, Miss Wilde.”
“Leo, congratulations, you passed the interview. I officially appoint you as the Chief Gemstone Consultant of Wilde Jewelry Company. First, go to the HR department to complete the onboarding process, then come to the sixth floor to see me.”
After hanging up the phone, Leo hailed a taxi and headed straight to the building where Wilde Jewelry Company was located.
Upon arrival, he went directly to the fifth floor and successfully completed the onboarding procedures with Hilda, the HR manager.
Then, he headed to the sixth floor, knocking on the door of the CEO’s office.
“Come in,” Coral’s voice came from inside.
Leo pushed the door open, and Nicola was also present in the room.
Seeing Leo’s arrival, Coral’s face lit up with a smile. “Leo, you are amazing. Among the twenty rough stones you picked, it turned out that twelve can rise in value, including six significant ones. One of them even turned out to be glass type!”
