“Mr. Peggy, I’m counting on you for the financing issue. Let me toast you again.” Sophia’s face was already showing signs of drunkenness. She stood up and raised her glass to one of the men.
Mr. Peggy also stood up, smiling, “Sophia, we’re old acquaintances, no need to be polite. Leave the funding matter to me.”
The man patted his chest, looking very generous.
The other two men and a woman exchanged glances. One of the men raised his glass and stood up, “Miss Henley, if you can drink with me, I won’t have any issues either with the stores in the Hang Lung Plaza.”
Sophia, already a bit tipsy, filled her own glass and then stood up, raising it, “Mr. Zechariah, since you put it that way, I’ll drink with you!”
Sophia drank the contents of her glass.
“Miss Henley sure is forthright,” Mr. Zechariah commented after taking a small sip of his drink.
At this point, the woman also stood up, forcing a smile on her heavily made-up face, “Miss Henley, since both Mr. Peggy and Mr. Zechariah have agreed to cooperate with you, I can’t just sit back and do nothing. After this toast, I’m willing to share the purchasing channel for the new products of Beautiful and Elegant with you!”
“Thank you, Ms. Kelsen. This toast is for you!” Sophia downed another glass of white wine.
By now, Sophia was even more intoxicated, and her balance was a bit unsteady.
The third man stood up from his seat, holding a glass of wine, and approached Sophia.
“Miss Henley, you don’t show appreciation for me?” The man’s face revealed a barely noticeable smirk.
Sophia glanced at him and breathed out alcohol fumes, “Mr. William, I owe you for the support from Mr. Peggy, Mr. Zechariah, and Ms. Kelsen tonight. I can’t thank you enough. This toast is for you.”
Sophia raised her glass and drank it down.
After downing the white wine, Sophia’s body suddenly swayed, and Colby William, quick on his feet, reached out and supported her waist.
“Sophia, you’ve had too much to drink,” Colby leaned in close to her and whispered.
“I’m not that drunk…” Sophia tried to break free from his grip, but he pressed even closer.
“You… you let go!” Sophia urgently shouted, but her intoxicated body lacked the strength to resist.
The combination of the alcohol and perfume on Sophia’s body was getting to Colby’s nerves. His audacity grew, and his hand slid towards her backside.
Just then, the door was pushed open from the outside.
Colby’s hand froze midway, and he turned to look at the intruder. Seeing a stranger, he angrily scolded, “Are you lost? Get out of here!”
“Release your hand.” The man outside the door spoke with an icy tone.
“Who the hell are you? You think I’ll do it just because you say so?” Colby sneered.
The next second, there was a loud bang, and Colby’s body was sent flying, crashing into the wall, and then sliding down.
Soon after, Colby let out a pained cry, “You… you dare to kick me! Do you know who I am?”
“Daring to touch my woman, I’d kick even the Lord himself!” Leo’s commanding voice echoed.
Colby was intimidated by the murderous look in Leo’s eyes, and for a moment, he forgot to call for help.
This sudden scene sobered Sophia up a bit, and she looked at Leo with disbelief-her husband in name of four years, when did he become so manly?
Leo grabbed Sophia’s wrist and coldly commanded, “Let’s go!”
“Leo, let go of me! I’m still negotiating business.” Sophia struggled, but Leo’s grip was like a vice.
“Silly girl, they deliberately got you drunk and had ulterior motives towards you!” Regardless of Sophia’s resistance, Leo pulled her outside.
Inside the private room, the others exchanged puzzled glances. Mr. Zechariah asked, “Who was that guy who rushed in so arrogantly? Why is Sophia leaving with him?”
“I’ve seen that man once. He seems to be Sophia’s husband,” Mr. Peggy replied.
Ms. Kelsen’s face showed a strange expression, “Mr. Peggy, are you saying that man is Sophia’s gold-digging husband?”
“If I remember correctly, yes,” Mr. Peggy nodded.
“A guy who lives off a woman dares to kick Mr. William? Unbelievable…” Hearing the conversation, Colby’s heart was filled with intense hatred, and he swore to take revenge tenfold or a hundredfold in the future.
Colby tried to struggle to get up, but every movement caused pain in his chest. The kick he had received was too forceful.
“Hey, what are you guys babbling about? Come help me up!” Colby angrily shouted.
Only then did the others remember poor Colby lying on the floor, so they hurried over to help him up.
Leo had already pulled Sophia to the hotel lobby, and the service staff stared at them curiously, unsure of what had happened.
Sophia struggled for a moment but eventually let Leo pull her along, though she was still annoyed. After all, Leo dared to call her a silly girl!
They reached the garage and got into the car. Sophia sat in the passenger seat while Leo drove.
“Leo, I asked you to pick me up, not to ruin my business. Do you know how difficult it is to do business now? If my company doesn’t transform and upgrade, it’ll be eliminated from the market!” Sophia was still huffing, although she knew Leo was trying to help.
“If doing business requires you to drink so much alcohol with them, I’d rather you not succeed in any business deals.”
Leo drove, his expression stern as he focused on the road.
“Huh, if I don’t make money, who will support you?” Sophia retorted sarcastically.
Leo glanced at Sophia, his words slow and steady, “From now on, I’ll support you.”
After saying that, Leo felt a bit regretful; wasn’t he here to talk about the divorce? How did the conversation veer off like this?
Hearing Leo’s words, Sophia smiled mockingly, “Sure, my company needs to expand, and we’re still short of eighty million in funding. Are you going to give me that?”
“No problem. I’ll give you eighty million in a few days,” Leo nodded.
“Leo, stop kidding me. Be practical. You don’t even have a proper job. How can you give me eighty million? Alright, even if you find a job, I doubt you could save eighty million in your lifetime,” Sophia showed Leo no respect because, in her eyes, he didn’t deserve any.
Leo wanted to tell her that he had already found a job which would pay him millions annually, but after a moment of hesitation, he decided against it. The situation with Coral was still uncertain, so he shouldn’t say it now.
