Esmeralda
Shoulders relaxed, chin raised high, hands balled into a fist, and darkened eyes darted in our direction, he took long strides, placing one foot after another slowly and steadily with his gaze pinned on mine.
My breath hitched as his footsteps became loud and clear, indicating his closeness to us. With widened eyes and dropped jaws, I watched him strode majestically toward us, with a powerful aura oozing out of him.
A gasp rolled from my lips as he came into view and my eyes met my feet once more, not daring to lock my gaze with his. My hands clipped behind me and my head bowed in submission.
What was he doing here?
Did he hear our misunderstanding?
My heart beat uncontrollably at the thousands of questions in my head.
What would he do to me now?
Would he continue from where his Beta stopped?
Silvius’ jaws hung in the air in surprise. I knew that was the last person he wanted to see
“Alpha,” He bowed for a few seconds before lifting his eyes to meet Alpha Kade’s conveniently.
I bet he was the only one who could do that.
Alpha Kade’s gaze flickered from Beta Silvius to mine, a deep frown enveloped his face and his brows were knitted that asked questions and demanded answers even when he hadn’t spoken a word.
“What is happening?” He asked, his deep voice made me jump in fear.
Who was he asking?
Should I answer? What should I say?
Easy. We were just having a conversation about how he would kill me if he finds out that I was a spy and I was here to hurt the Alpha. Not to forget that I didn’t belong in the pack and I wasn’t welcomed either.
But I knew better than to say anything to anyone.
He won’t hesitate to bury me alive.
Unable to speak, my eye met with Beta Silvius, waiting for him to provide the answers Alpha Kade demanded.
“Nothing, Alpha. I was just saying hello to the new housekeeper,” He sneered, sarcasm evident in his voice.
“Hmm,” The frown on Alpha Kade’s face got deeper, showing he didn’t buy the answer, “Okay then,”
He shot me one long hard look before tearing his gaze from me, leaving Beta Silvius and me in the hallway.
Fuck.
When I thought he was here to save me, he gave me a cold shoulder and ditched me.
What a lovely mate.
As if on cue, Beta Silvius turned his back on me and walked up to catch up to meet the Alpha’s pace.
Finally, freedom.
He halted and turned to meet me before pointing two of his fingers in the direction of his eyes before directing them to mine, warning me that his eyes were on me, leaving me shaking like a leaf.
Why was everyone giving me that look?
Without wasting time, I dashed out of the hallway as fast as my slim legs could carry me, afraid that Beta Silvius could change his mind and come back to punish me if I stayed longer.
That was it.
I was done!
Nothing hurts more than your mate giving silent treatments.
I wasn’t comfortable in this Pack anymore.
No one liked me. Except for Jade and Madam Dora but it wasn’t enough.
The only person who could help me was me. A voice rang in my head.
But If I wanted to leave the Pack, I need a fucking plan.
Urgh!
Without looking in a direction, I turned East. But a muffled scream rolled off my lips as I bumped into a figure, making me land on my butt.
That hurts.
Why wasn’t I looking?
Lifting my eyes to meet the figure, a gasp escaped my lips and every hair on my body stood erect.
What have I done?
An encounter with Silvius was enough to call it a night, but now I bumped into the she-devil herself.
Why now, Moon goddess!
“You stupid bitch,” Vanessa roared in anger with blazing eyes.
Panic gripped me hard as I watched her silently in horror.
What was my fate now?
She would kill me, no doubt.
“Not only are you stupid, but you are also blind,” She gritted, anger laced in her voice.
“I am sorry,” I muttered, half-dead with fear, “I am sorry for bumping into you I wasn’t looking…”
“Quiet!” She yelled, her voice echoing throughout the hallway, sending chills down my spine, and leaving me dumb in fear.
“You clumsy little thing,” She spat, grabbing me with one of her hands and slamming my back against the wall, “I will teach you a lesson you would never forget in a hurry,” An evil smile played on her lips.
Kill me now, Moon goddess.
“I am sorry,” I coughed as her long hand pinned me to the wall, almost choking me. Her long sharp claws brushed against my bare skin boredly and her head was filled with thoughts, thinking of what she would do to me.
Her eyes narrowed, giving me a horrid look as she yanked my hair hard. So hard that I felt some strands pull off and my scalp burn. I wriggledunder her firm grip but it was no use as she was stronger than me.
“I cannot wait to end you,” She spat, tightening her grip on my neck and her claws digging into my flesh, leaving me breathless.
“Please,” I muttered.
Why do I think my pleading will get to her?
She was a devil reincarnate. My pleas meant nothing to her.
With those words, I closed my eyes, waiting for my death.
Maybe it was better this way.
No one would have to worry about me anymore. Not Beta Silvius and not Alpha Kade.
“I cannot wait to end you,” Phoebe’s threats echoed in my head, jolting me out of my reverie.
At once, those hazel eyes shone brightly, pinning me with the most hateful glare that made my heart skip two beats.
“Phoebe, please,” I clasped my hands together as tears welled up in my eyes.
Phoebe was at it again. Haunting me through Vanessa.
Slowly, she adjusted the gloves on her hands, “Your pleas only make matters worse,” Her familiar merciless voice filled the air, moistening my eyes.
“Please, don’t kill me, Phoebe,” I screamed. I could feel her dangle silver chains before me.
“It will be so satisfying to watch you wriggle to death,” She clicked her tongue.
With the widest grin, she bound my wrists with the chains, filling the air with a burst of evil laughter as she watched the chains burn my skin.
“Enjoy it, Esmeralda. Enjoy the feeling,”
With one push, I pulled away from her grip, running as fast as my legs could carry me.
“What is wrong with you? Girl, you need help,” Vanessa’s confused voice trailed after me, “And for the record, I am Vanessa, not Phoebe. Why the hell do you keep calling me that?”
Without halting, I ran out of the hallway as fast as my legs could carry me. Opening the door to the pink room before throwing myself in it.
I was a bit safe.
Another night of escaping death.
But am I certain that it won’t take me tomorrow?
