Esmeralda
Gluing to a spot, unable to run as I was paralyzed with fear, my gaze shifted to the shadow slowly striding toward me filling me with disbelief.
Help me Moon goddess. Help me Moon goddess. I muttered inwardly, afraid to let even the tiniest sound of my voice escape.
Shaking vigorously like a leaf as my legs started to give way, my eyes rose to meet the shadowy figure and I was greeted with darkness, thick darkness except for her blazing eyes that shone brightly in the dark like a ball of fire, illuminating the room.
Just like…
No!
Swallowing the lump that got stuck in my throat, I pressed my thighs together to keep them from shaking. But the more I pressed it, the more it got wetter and wetter, moisturizing me with my pee.
Where was Jade?
Where the fuck was she?
Why did she leave me here?
A deafening pearl of evil laughter, jolted me from my thoughts, almost making my body grace the floor.
A gasp slipped from my lips and my eyes widened in horror at the recognition of the voice.
How the hell did she get here?
How did she know I was here?
She will never let me be. I knew that.
I tightened my grip on the wooden bench to stop myself from shaking but it got worse as I almost tripped on the floor.
My lily hands rose to the collar of my shirt, unconsciously giving it a tight squeeze and my mouth was thrown open, taking in a harsh breath as the aura of the strange figure choked me hard.
“Look at who we have here,” Her voice filled the air once more, snapping me out of my thoughts, “What a pleasant surprise,”
Even in the dark, I could sense the evil smile that graced her face as she walked closer and closer to me.
Run!
My senses told me, but I found myself rooted to the spot, shaking like a lily and wetting myself with pee.
Run, Esmeralda!
But I couldn’t. I wanted to but I couldn’t.
I felt my body was tied down by unseen forces. And my strength was sapped out.
Jade, come out, please.
Lifting my eyes to meet hers was the worst mistake I made as I was met with a pair of furious eyes.
Eyes like fire.
Nose scrunched up in disgust.
Lips twisted in a dangerous smirk.
Face covered in darkness.
Aura screaming death, danger and destruction.
The triple D’s
Just like…
My eyes grew wide as my hand quickly covered my mouth, silencing the gasp that threatened to escape from it.
It can’t be her. It can’t be her. I muttered to myself. But the shadowy figure’s physique only confirmed the name in my head.
Her furious eyes met mine, pinning me to the floor, filled with pure hatred.
Those blazing hazel eyes, filled with hatred and mischief reminded me of…
Phoebe.
No!
She can’t find me here. She has been trapped and taken care of.
Did she escape?
How the fuck did she do that?
I know Phoebe was unpredictable and she could do anything in exchange for what she wanted. But her escape was impossible.
Fuck!
I dug my teeth hard into my lips, restraining myself from letting out a deafening scream as those hazel eyes hovered on my body, satisfied by my fear.
Why was Phoebe after my life?
Why won’t she stop haunting me at any opportunity? When I am alone, in the dark, in reality, even in my dream!
Why was she making my life miserable?!
“Surprised?” Her steady voice filled the air. Calm but deadly.
Why won’t I be?
“Don’t be surprised,” She let out a dark chuckle, covering the distance between us so that I could see her face. But I found myself pressing hard on the wall, begging it to part ways for me so that I could find refuge in it. Away from Phoebe.
“Don’t run away from me, I will always find you,”
No!
I screamed in my head as memories of the past blasted me.
“I will always find you, Esmeralda. You can’t run away from me. Never. Even if you seek refuge in the deepest hole in this world, you will always find me there. And I won’t hesitate to kill you!” Her thundering voice resonated in my ears as the earth roared and parted ways, before gravity took over, sweeping her off her feet as she disappeared into another world through a portal.
The air around me seemed to disappear gradually, making me gasp for breath.
Oh no! It’s happening!
Selene.
Where was she?
Fuck!
I shouldn’t have left her.
I shouldn’t have left my best friend. Now I stood face to face with the she-devil.
That wanted nothing but my life.
Maybe she should make this visit her last.
I couldn’t wait for her to kill me.
I should stop running because I would never run away from her.
No matter where I seek refuge, she will always find me.
I couldn’t wait for the misery to stop.
Maybe I would find solace in death.
Maybe it was better that way.
But what about Alpha Kade?
What would become of him when he finds his mate dead?
He would be miserable for the rest of his life. Worse of all, he might die or turn rogue.
Foolish of me to think he would become that after my demise.
So foolish of me.
Why would my death even hurt him when he treated me like I was trash?
“Because you shouldn’t be heard or seen. You should be kept hidden and no one must know your identity. You are an Omega and I am an Alpha,” His gruff voice laced with hatred and disgust filled my head, causing tears to spill from my eyes.
He would never see me for what I was. To him, I remained a filthy omega. A stain on his reputation. A shame to his title. An eyesore, to be kept hidden. Forever hidden. Never for the public view.
My life was a mess, filled with hatred from everyone. Except for Selene.
Oh, Selene. She would definitely cry a river when she find me dead.
Guilt pricked my heart for being a selfish friend but I waved it aside.
Selene would find a better person and move on with her life.
I hope she does.
“Maybe you should kill me. Hurry up, I can’t wait to die,” I found myself blurting out. My eyes were tightly shut, waiting for my death as seconds ticked by.
“You should have never come here. You should have never thought of taking my place,” She roared in anger, gritting her teeth loudly.
My eyes flew open as recognition hit me. That voice. Cold and clear. Daring and terrifying with jealousy laced in it.
Except it wasn’t just Phoebe’s voice.
It was Vanessa’s!
