~Avery~
I slowly opened my eyes, trying to ignore the sudden headache that just hit me. “What the…” my jaw dropped while I scanned the room I was in.
From the looks of it, I was in a hospital but what am I doing here and when did I get here. I hissed, finding harder to ignore the headache. “Dylan?” I rose an eyebrow, just noticing he was here.
He was sitting beside my bed with his head rested on it. He was sleeping.
I frowned, accessing the room then my body. “What?” I got frustrated, not able to figure out why and how I got here.
Did I have some kind of attack while sleeping or something… Last thing I remember was spending a night with Dylan.
I frowned, finally deciding to wake up big head sleeping beside me. “Hey idiot” I said shaking his head roughly.
That ought to give him a headache. We’d enjoy our headaches together
His head shot up immediately, frightening me a bit with his gaze.
His eyes were blood shot red, wide and tired. He looked at me with surprise.
I could notice the tear stains on his cheeks. He’s been crying. I couldn’t even imagine.
I opened my mouth to ask what happened but he shot his question before I could. “You’re awake?!”
“No, I’m just sleep talking.” sarcasm rang in my voice.
A small smile made it’s way to his lips as he held one of my hand with both of his.
I watched him lift them, resting his head on them and closing his eyes. “Thank God.” he whispered, with a shakey voice. Tears threatened to fall out of his eyes. “I’m so sorry” he continued in the same state squeezing my hand and not bothering to look at me. “I should’ve protected you. You wouldn’t have had to push yourself so hard.”
I had a confused frown on with a dry throat. I searched my mind for what to say but could find nothing. I had a million questions to ask but not one could escape my mouth.
Seeing Dylan in such a state really bothered me.
“If I lost you… I don’t know what I’d do” he trailed, squeezing his eyes closed at the thought. A tear fell out as he intertwined our finger.
“Dylan-” again he interrupted me.
“Shit. I should go and call the doctor” he said, giving me a small peck before rushing out of the room.
I watched him leave with confusion still written on my face. “Maybe…” I trailed, pinching myself.
“Dummy, you really think it’s a dream?”
I jumped up a bit when I heard someone talk in my head. “Ouch.” I whispered, squeezing my chest when a sudden pain hit me.
“Calm down. We’re not fully healed yet.”
“Who are you?” I asked, frowning. I didn’t like the idea of someone talking in my head.
“Your wolf you idiot.” my frown grew when I got her rude reply.
But all that anger disappeared as soon as I figured she was awake. “You’re awake?!” I grinned now, feeling crazy. It almost felt like I was talking to myself.
“No. I’m sleep talking”
I sighed, not liking her attitude at all. “Do you understand what’s going on?”
“You know if you just think of what to say instead of saying it. I’d get the message”
“Didn’t know”
“You know now.”
I pouted, low key wondering if I would’ve preferred her still asleep.
I shifted to a corner of the bed sitting and placing my feet in the floor. Moving around was a bit hard for me especially because of the drip attached to my hand. I was glaring at it like it was a living thing.
“Where’d Dylan go?” I said, impatient. Its not been up to three minutes since he was gone. I stood slowly, feeling different. I could barely feel my feet.
I placed my hand in the iron thingy holding up the drip fluid. “Let’s go.” I said to it, heading for the exit while it rolled with me. “Oh” I said, taking a step back when I got to the door.
Dylan stood there with his hands crossed over his chest. He was looking at me like an angry mom and I looked at him like an upset baby. He opened his mouth to say something, probably to scold me but I didn’t give him the chance to talk.
“I don’t want to stay here Dylan. Why are my here?” I asked, with my eye brows furrowed.
“You asked why your here?” he rose an eyebrow a bit.
“Amnesia” the doctor said from behind Dylan.
My attention turned to him, expecting him to give me more of an explanation.
“Seems to me that you’ve lost some of your memories little Luna.” he said, attaching a weird small smile at the end of it.
“Lost memories?” Dylan and I asked at the same time. Little Luna?. “what’s the last thing you remember?” Dylan turned to me.
“Going to bed with you.”
Dylan had his mouth open but no words coming out. “Uh-” he said with his throat tied.
Now I was getting nervous
What happened?
How’d I get sent to the hospital?
“It would do you no good overthinking it.” the doctor spoke up. Probably guessing my mind was packed just by looking at me.
“I want to be discharged. Now. Is that possible?” I asked, glancing at Dylan.
The looks of him really worried me
He’d lost weight and gained eye bags. His eyes looked dull and tired. He was so pale. Basically a dead man walking
I couldn’t stay away from him when he’s in such a state
“I’m sorry but it’s best you stay back under professional supervision.” the doctor said calmly, as if trying to avoid triggering me.
I starred at him with a bored expression “You want to baby sit me?”
“No no”
“You might get stressed at home. That wouldn’t be good for you.” Dylan explained, rubbing the top off my head like I was some kind of dog.
“Dylan. Please don’t let me stay here” I begged, being serious. I had a lot of questions to ask and I wouldn’t get detailed answers here.
“Avery-”
“Dylan please” I begged. “I’m fine. I don’t need this supervision.” I explained. “I’d feel better under your supervision. I won’t be stubborn I promise. I can’t stay here.”
Dylan sighed, rubbing his temple probably finding it difficult to make a decision. “You promise not to be stubborn?”, he asked after a few seconds.
“I promise.” I said nodding, excited.
He let out a heavy sigh, tilting his head up, still trying to make a decision before saying, “Okay then. Doctor, don’t worry about it. Get a nurse to her prepared to leave. I’ll be expecting your team to come over to give her daily check ups” Dylan said, looking at the doctor now.
Yes!
