I looked at my watch, Eaden was home waiting for me to come back and feed him. But I need to finish a lot of things.
“It’s getting a little late, I have a few things to do, the dinner thing can wait until next time, my baby is pure breastfeed and he sure is waiting for me.
I’ll buy you dinner next time. Would that be fine?” I feel guilty for making my brother wait but I cannot go for a dinner with him because I did not expect that my shoot took longer than expected.
He understood me, smiled and said, “Don’t worry I understand, I’ll drive you home then.”
“No, no, I drove my car, let’s leave a number so we can communicate later.” I said.
I gave him my number and hurriedly drove away.
After arriving home and feeding my baby, I glanced at my phone where several messages were coming in and learn that it was Dermon.
What time are you free tomorrow?”
Tomorrow is weekend, so I agreed to meet him for dinner.
I sent the address of a cafe near my house. This is the nearest café in our place so I decide to meet him there.
We met at the cafe. I saw him sitting on a bench. As I sit, I ordered a meal for two and a brewed coffee. We begin talking and he asked me serious questions.
“Are your foster parents treating you well? ”
I nodded. And answered yes to him with a smile. I told him how my foster parents took good care of me.
“Please take me to them when you have time, I should thank them properly for taking good care of you and for treating you nice.”
It gave my heart a slight warm feeling to hear that.
“I can send them a bunch of flowers if you want. It was my sign of giving them my warm thank you.”
Upon looking at our surroundings I saw Haden.
He saw us when he turned his head to this side where we are seated. He was stunned.
Haden looked surprised and came over to say hello.
I called out “Brother! ” Come join us for coffee. What time are you here? ”
“Brother? ” Haden’s eyes widened. You called me that way.
I didn’t want people to know I was married with a kid, so I put my arm around him and introduced him to Dermon, “This is my brother, Haden.” Meet him and have a sit.
“Hello, Dermon.”
Haden gave Dermon a look and ignored him.
“So you’re here for coffee, aren’t you?”
I was a little embarrassed and nodded, “Hello, this is ………” I pointed at Dermon to start the introductions.
“Would you mind watching the kid only just for the weekend?” he said sarcastically.
I was blown away.
You don’t need to worry about it, I will go first.” Haden turned to leave.
I want to run after him but he is in a hurry to leave. He goes directly to his car and drove fast. I was wondering why he acted that way. His reaction makes me feel worried.
I regretted asking Dermon to meet me at a coffee shop near my house or I wouldn’t have bumped into Haden. He seems to be hurt. But it was not intentional. It was just a coincidence and were not doing anything wrong, we only had coffee.
Dermon asked, “Are you married?”
There was nothing to hide, so I said, “I’m married with a kid.”
Dermon was shocked at this, and his eyes fell for a long time, taking a long time to digest the news.
He asked again, “Who is the other man? Is he good to you?”
“He’s in business, and he’s been good to me.” He never hurt me and he’s always around to for my baby and me.”
Dermon lost his smile, “I didn’t think you would marry so soon.”
I laughed and said, “I did, pretty early, right after graduating college.” It just happened and I don’t regret it.”
Dermon nodded and said, “Take me to see him some time, I want to see what kind of person he is.”
“Good.” I can let you meet him in person. I lied and didn’t tell him it was Haden.
Hadens Pov
After I left, I wondered more and more why I was introduced as “brother”. What was her purpose in saying that?
What was the point of introducing me as “brother”? I need an answer from her. Do I deserve to be treated like this? I asked myself, who was that man with him at that time? It makes my head blow away from my head ache. I can’t accept it.
When I got home, Eaden was crying, because Elena was dating wild men on the weekends and leaving him at home alone. I want to get mad but I need to have it controlled for my baby’s sake. Where are you, Elena? How can you do this to my baby?
People cannot help but want to rub a fleshy white face, is this you Elena. What have you been doing? Instead of going home early and taking good care of this little boy. You are having a good time with a stranger. How could you!
I carried Eaden and the little guy’s bright eyes stared at me, I reached out to his hands, he put his thick arms to the side, wanting me to hug him. He took away the anger I have for his mom. His looks relieved me.
The fleshy round eyes still stared at me like he wants to say something that he can’t pronounce yet for he still can’t talk.
What a nice feeling! I never felt this before in my life. This baby is the answer to my prayers.
I was immersed in the warm atmosphere of mutual affection, the little guy sprayed me a face of saliva, he is blowing his mouth creating sounds.
Giggling, he doesn’t seem afraid. He is so happy like nothing happens. What an innocent angel he is. He is laughing with loud sound. His weight is gaining. I can feel the heaviness of his body while lying in my arms.
ELENA’S POV
As I returned home, I rushed over to pick up my baby, I saw Haden and he doesn’t look happy. I know that he is mad.
He was especially frightening when he looked grumpy.
“I’m going to take Eaden upstairs to feed him.” when he handed baby to me.
I hugged Eaden and left in a hurry. After feeding him, he easily slept. And I talked to Haden about my brother. Dermon.
“The man you saw at the cafe is my stepbrother. My parents adopted him for a while.” He meets me at the café so we can talk, that is why you saw us there together. ” I explained.
“Your parents adopted a child?” Yes, he is my parents adopted child. He was lost because he doesn’t have my number. He doesn’t know where to locate me.”
He said after a moment of silence, “Since there’s such a relation, you should invite him over to our house some time and we should all meet.”
I nodded, “Okay, I’ll make the arrangements so you can also talk to him and meet him in person as your brother-in-law.”
“But as my wife, you shouldn’t do anything inappropriate in the future, you must tell me everything so that I won’t mistook you.” he reminded me.
The tone of his voice was noticeably cold and rude. I just simply nodded my head and looked into his eyes. “Yes, don’t worry.”
He had never been this indifferent to me before. Maybe because he was getting jealous.
Eaden sound asleep, I lay next to him looking at the good boy’s fleshy face, the baby’s eyes were round but the contours of his face resembled his father.
Haden used to go on business trips, but every time he left he tell me in advance, but this time he didn’t say anything. May be this is his way of making me feel that he is mad at me. What will I do to make him happy? I did not do anything wrong. I was just misunderstood with my step-brother.
