Waking up

Emma woke up with a jolt. When he eyes shot open, she looked around the strange room which reeked of herbs and medicine. She was sweating so much that her entire blouse was wet. Her head felt heavy. She closed her eyes and thought of the last thing she remembered which was Michelle wriggling in pain on the floor. Her hand instinctively moved to her chest where there had been a wound. It had healed. She didn’t understand why Michelle had also been in pain. The only reasonable answer was that a witch had linked them so that Michelle would also die if she killed Emma. Could Casey have done it?
Emma lay awake for a few minutes, not bothering to get up because she could feel that her body was still very weak. Whatever Michelle had used to try to murder her must have been very strong. She was about to drift off to sleep when she heard voices. The people they belonged to where still far because she couldn’t make them out clearly.
Suddenly, a sweet-smelling scent wafted into the room. It was woodsy but had a sweet tinge to it. Emma inhaled, wondering where it was coming from. She came to a conclusion that the pack doctor was cooking up something but the thought was short-lived. It was replaced by a more sinister realisation. Axel. That scent reminded her of Axel when she first met him.
Emma sat up and scanned the room for something she could use to defend herself. Did Axel survive the attack?
Suddenly, the door was thrown open and Lucius walked in.
“Wow, you’re awake.” He said.
“Mate,” Emma heard the word in her mind and stared at Lucius in confusion. Lucius looked confused as well.
“Emma…” he said, stopping in the middle of the room.
“What’s going on?” Emma asked him. There was no way he could be her mate when he was mated to someone else. “I think I’m hallucinating. What did the doctor give me?”
“I don’t think you’re hallucinating. This is real. I don’t understand it…but this has to be the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“What do you mean?”
He went to sit and threw his arms around her. “Finally. It will be just you and I?”
When he hugged her, Emma felt a wave of sweet sensations and overwhelming emotions. Everything seemed to fall in place. She placed her hands around him and they stayed together in that position for a very long time, enjoying how good it felt to be in each other’s arms.
Emma had always felt good when with him but the feelings that day were extraordinary. She pulled away and stared into his eyes, looking for answers to what was going on. “Is Michelle dead?”
He sat up straight and chuckled. “No, she is isn’t.”
“So, why is this happening?”
“Michelle and I are no longer mates,” Lucius said.
“What?” Emma said, unable to believe what she was hearing. “Did you reject her?”
“No, I don’t understand how it happened as well. According to her, the pain started when she stabbed you. That means that our bond broke because she tried to kill you, and I’ve never heard of something like that. Maybe it has to do with a curse placed on the dagger she was using. Even Joshua doesn’t understand it but he intends to do more research. Anyway, I’m just glad that I’m no longer mated to that woman.”
“And now you’re my mate.”
“Did you feel it too?”
Emma nodded. “This is so unreal. I had hopes that we would be happy together one day but I never thought it would be like this.”
“I guess the moon goddess decided to give us second chances.”
Emma chuckled. “Yeah, and rightly so. She really messed up the first time.”
“That’s true. She paid us up with the worst people on earth.”
“I had never thought this would be possible,” Emma said. “You’re my mate now. This is so unbelievable. Casey is not going to believe this.”
Lucius climbed on the bed and sat next to Emma, in the same style. They were both leaning on the bedframe. He touched her thigh and even though she was wearing jeans with a thick material, Emma felt the heat from his touch. She looked up into his blazing eyes.
“This is the best day of my life,” he said before kissing her. She responded to his kiss surrendering herself to him completely.
His hand moved between her legs, and the sensations made Emma ache her back, wanting to feel more of him. His hand moved upwards and he helped her take off her top. Lucius knelt in front of her and placed his hand on her waist.
“Nooo, we can’t.”
He looked up at her. “We can.”
How could she resist when those beautiful blue eyes were showing her how much he wanted her. She smiled and nodded. He unzipped her pants and pulled them from her legs while she laughed.
“I don’t even know if someone has slept on these sheets. Please lock the door.”
Lucius shook his head. “I love how nervous this is making you.”
He continued to kiss her and slowly, they moved down until Emma was lying on her back. The kiss had become steamier, a testament of the hunger buried in their bones. Emma kissed him with hunger that was gnawing at her insides. His lips moved down to her neck and she let out a moan.
One of his hands moved down to remove her underwear, while her hands buried themselves in his soft hair. He thrust into her and she gasped. He positioned his lips on her neck as he thrust into her, slowly at first, and then beginning to move faster and harder. She let out a stream of moans, loving how good it felt to have their bodies connected together.
“This feels so good,” she said, feeling slightly delirious.
“You’re so sweet, baby,” he said, looking into her half closed eyes. “I love you so much.”
She wrapped her legs around him, wanting him closer. Everything felt so hot and good. She was so aroused and could feel her body about to lose control. She held on to his back tighter. He groaned and his body shuddered as he released into her. He stayed on top of her for a few seconds before rolling to the side.
She smiled and rolled over, placing her hand on his chest.
“I love you so much,” Emma confessed.
