Michelle smiled as she looked down below from the balcony of her place. Her roles as the luna of Summit pack had been reinstated and she was back to being the second most powerful person in the pack. The wind blew her hair back and she enjoyed the feeling of the wind as it blew against her face.
For her, life was good again. She was feeling particularly happy that evening. Soon, she was going to get rid of the biggest thorn in her life for good. If it wasn’t for Axel, she would have killed Emma already. But Axel had told her he was planning to first enjoy her before getting rid of her.
While standing there, she spotted Casey looking very determined and walking towards the garden. A few seconds later, she spotted a man whose name she didn’t know heading to the garden from another direction. Michelle frowned.
“Clearly, those two want to cement their positions in this pack,” Michelle said to herself. “But I’m not going to let that happen, not when I can do something about it.”
Michelle decided to go and put a stop to what was going on between Casey and one of her pack members. She went into her bedroom and got her phone, and put on a jacket since it was getting cold.
She was about to open the main door when it opened by itself. Michelle stepped back and watched as Lucius walked in. Lucius had been in a meeting with the elders and he was wearing a black suit that looked very good on him. Michelle went to hug her husband but he pushed her. She staggered back and sighed as he closed the door.
“Do you really have to be like that?” She asked. “I know you don’t like me but you can at least pretend some times. That’s what humans do in their marriages.”
“Save it,” he removed his coat and placed it on the coach before sitting down to remove his closed shoes. “Where is she?”
Michelle and went on the loveseat. “Where is who?”
“Emma,” he said, leaning back. “Her friend says you left with her and returned alone.”
Michelle sighed. “Since you have asked nicely, I’ll be nice. Emma asked me for a lift to town and I gave it to her. I left her there since she didn’t ask me to bring her back. I have no idea where she went but I hope she returns soon because it’s getting late.”
“Are you sure you didn’t do anything to her.”
“I’m sure,” Michelle said, standing up. “I know that I’m the first suspect since I don’t get along well with her but I didn’t do anything for sure. I don’t even hate her, have just been feeling jealous. If I hated her, I would never have given her the lift. Now, what would you like to drink, honey?”
He looked at her sceptically.
Michelle sighed. “Here’s the thing, we may not be in love with each other but we can still be courteous which is what I’m trying to do here. We’re husband and wife who will always live together, so there’s no point in acting like enemies. I’m trying to be better here.”
“Okay,” he said, rubbing his eyes. “Get me some wine. I’m exhausted.”
“Coming right up.”
Michelle smiled as she went to the kitchen. Now that Emma was out of the picture, she was going to try her best to make Lucius want her again. Without Emma to distract him, it seemed it would be much easier.
When she returned to the living room, she found Lucius opening the door. Michelle put the glass of water on the table and stared at Casey who was strutting into the room like she owned it. Michelle shrugged and faced the witch.
“Hi Casey,” she said cheerfully.
“Don’t hi me,” Casey said. “Where is my friend, Michelle? What have you done to her?”
Michelle sighed. “What’s with you people? I have told you the truth. Why don’t you call her and ask her to return home? I’m not her babysitter.”
“I warned her,” Casey said. “I told her that your friendship offer was fake and she shouldn’t get close to you. What have you done to Emma?”
Casey had raised her voice. Lucius was drinking his water while staring at the two women.
“Nothing,” Michelle said. “I’m not going to say it again so you better leave.”
“You’re not going to say it again because I’m gonna kill you.”
Casey charged at Michelle and they began fighting, pulling each other’s hair and biting hands. Michelle was physically stronger so she nearly over powered Casey. When Casey realised she was being over powered, she decided to use her powers. She stepped away from Michele and started a ring of fire around the woman. Michelle screamed as she started to feel the heat.
“Stop it,” Lucius yelled at Casey who withdrew the fire immediately. A shocked Michelle stepped out of the ring and punched Casey on the nose. Casey’s hand went to her nose as it started to bleed.
“Get out!” Lucius yelled.
“Did you hear that?” Michelle said. “Get the fuck out of here.”
“Both of you get out of my house,” Lucius stood up. “Move it.”
“This is my house too,” Michelle insisted as Casey walked out. “I live here.”
“I’m not going to say it twice.”
Michelle rolled her eyes and left the room. She followed Casey to the hallway and was about to hit her again when Lucius came out of the door.
“Don’t lay a hand on her,” Lucius said.
“Whatever,” Michelle said and went into the elevator while Casey took the stairs. She went straight to her friend’s room. She knocked on it. There was no answer. She knocked again and she could hear hushed talking and shuffling.
“What’s going on in there?” she asked, knocking again.
A few seconds later, the door opened. The man she had seen going to the gardens bowed before getting out. Inside she saw her friend fixing her dress.
“What?” she said to her friend. “I won’t even ask. Come with me.”
