He held her close and started kissing her while twirling one of his fingers over her left nipple. Emma kissed him back, while trying to unbuckle his belt. When she finished, she undid the zip, freeing what she wanted most. She smiled and stood up before leaning over and sliding down on him, before riding up and down. This earned her a groan of pleasure from him as she moaned. She felt pleasure all over her body and felt like it was the best thing ever.
Soon they both reached their climax and went to rest on the bed, ignoring the world and all their problems. Emma did not like the uncertainty but the pleasure she got from their moments together was worth all the emotional pain not knowing where the relationship was going brought. If she could have such a great time just once in a while, life would be okay. She wouldn’t feel so lonely, or so she thought. With him by her side, she could bear with everything.
“Do you ever feel like I’m a burden to you?” Emma asked Lucius the next morning when they were having breakfast. The table they had chosen was near the window and they could look out into the woods while enjoying their delicious food. Emma was enjoying the silent, cool ambience. She knew that she wanted to return there.
“Never,” Lucius replied immediately. “Emma. You are the best thing that has happened to me this year. My life hasn’t been very good, especially because of all the responsibilities I have. I never thought I could ever be happy again until you came along. For that reason, I will do anything to keep you by my side. You are my life now, so how can my life be a burden to me? How can you even think that?”
“You’re crazy.”
“If being in love with the most amazing woman in the world is crazy, then yes I am.”
“I don’t understand, though. How can you be in love with me when you accepted your mate?”
“I don’t know but I love you. Yes, I felt strong feelings for Michelle when I’d just accepted her but they were only physical. She has got worse since we married so I resent her. I guess the resentment overshadows the feelings I’m supposed to feel for her.”
“Maybe,” Emma said. She remembered how she had sometimes felt attracted to Axel despite him being horrible to her. She glanced at Lucius wondering if he felt that way sometimes. She wanted to ask but decided to let go. She didn’t want to spoil the perfect moment.
“Let’s forget about Michelle and focus on us,” he said. He wrapped some pasta around his fork and reached out to feed her. Emma smiled shyly and opened her mouth, taking in everything. Her smile widened when she saw his.
“Why are you so perfect?” she asked him, staring at the perfect planes of his strong jaw. His face was very masculine yet so good looking. If she hadn’t been so stupid, she would have had him as hers. He would have married her and she would wake up every morning to his beautiful face.
“You are the angel I was waiting to save me, and you came at the right time. Unfortunately, you don’t want to run off to the sunset with me. Why is that? Why do you want to make me suffer so much? I hate tasting you and leaving you. I want to have you whenever I want and it kills me that I can’t touch you when we’re at the pack house.”
“What is going to happen to Michelle if you decide to break up with her?” Emma asked. “Although I don’t like the woman, I don’t think I want her to suffer. If she’s not happy, she’ll never leave us in peace and that means we will never be happy together. This is so complicated.”
“Michelle is not a fragile woman,” Lucius said. “She can handle a lot of things but yes, you’re right. She wouldn’t take it easy. Michelle and I resent each other so whether we like it or not, whatever exists between us will have to end at some point. I will try to do whatever possible to make her happy when we separate. She will not lack anything. I will do all that because of you. You don’t need to worry about her harming you because I will always be there to defend you.”
Emma felt her heart warming up and smiled. She felt like the happiest woman in the world at that moment. How Lucius had fallen so deep in love with her, she didn’t understand but was glad it had happened. Had she not met him, she would have never believed in love again after what her former mate Axel had done to her.
Lucius was the second chance she needed. Although he could never be her mate and their relationship came with a lot of complications, it was precious and the best thing that had happened to her in a long time. She wouldn’t trade it for anything.
She knew that she would never move on from this one if it ended. In case they broke up, she was sure that Lucius Bradford would always remain in her heart. Emma couldn’t imagine a life without him. She smiled and placed her hand over his, feeling the heat of his body. She looked up and her eyes met his. A smile had warmed up his face.
He tilted his head and leaned down before connecting their lips together. Emma could feel her body starting to burn up, the butterflies in her stomach going wild.
“I think Casey and that guy will have to wait a little longer for us,” she whispered into his ear. “Let’s go back upstairs.”
He stood up almost immediately and she followed suit. With big smiles on their faces, they headed to the elevator and resumed their kiss even before the door closed.
