The advice

One moment the man was undoing the zip of Emma’s jeans, the next he was falling to the ground. Emma’s rescuer came forward and stuck a well sharpened stake into the vampire’s chest before lifting his head and hitting it on the ground. Emma watched in shock as her breathing and heartbeat stabilized. When he was done with the vampire, he dragged the body away from the tree and returned to untie the woman. He watched her in silence as she zipped her jeans.
“Thank you so much, Lucius.”
He glared at her, anger showing clearly on his face. “What were you thinking, running around the woods despite knowing how unsafe they are? Did you want to get killed? What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you doing this?”
Emma could only stand there as the man yelled at her. She knew he was right about everything so there was no need to antagonise him. Walking the woods alone had been a death wish and she had to be very thankful that he had arrived in time to save her. Otherwise, things would have ended very badly.
“I did something very stupid and I’m very sorry,” Emma said. “I won’t do this again, I swear.”
“You know what, your word means so little nowadays because you never keep it. You say one thing and do the other. I love you a lot but I’m getting tired of all this drama and lies. Why can’t you just be straightforward for once? Do you know what getting killed would have done to me? You were going to leave me like last time. Why? Do you want me to be as miserable as possible? Is that why you came back to the pack?”
“Of course not. I ran because I wasn’t thinking straight. I don’t know what to do.”
“You have two days to figure out whether you want to stay here or now,” Lucius said after thinking for some time. “I can’t do this anymore. I can’t keep up with this anymore. You need to decide whether you want me or not and let me know. I don’t mind you staying in the pack for as long as you want. I just need everything to be clear between us. Should we be friends? Should there be more? You know my situation so the rest is up to you.”
“Two days?”
“Two days,” he said. “Now let’s go. My men will clean up this mess.”
“I’m glad you killed him,” Emma said. “That was the man who kidnapped Katya. He wanted revenge for killing his son.”
“What? And you let me kill him without telling me?”
“What difference would it have made? Would you have let him go after knowing what he did to your sister?”
“No, I would have made his death slower and tortured him more.”
“He’s already dead.”
“Please stop talking. Okay?”
Emma followed him as he led her away from them. There was a strong tension between them and she didn’t like it. She had realised that she hated seeing him angry, especially when she was the cause of that anger. He didn’t deserve everything she was putting him through. Emma was glad to be walking behind him as she could stare at him for as long as she wanted.
He walked gracefully and carried himself like a king should. His back looked as enticing as the front. At some point, she felt like running over to hug him from behind. She controlled herself and continued to follow him. If she did that, it would seem like she was underrating his anger. His anger was valid. Hell, even she was angry at herself.
Being back in the captivity of a vampire would have been terrible, especially if you had contributed to the death of the said vampire’s son. Emma breathed a sigh of relief. At least he was dead. Katya was now safe. As soon as they reached the pack house, they went separate ways. Lucius did not say anything to her before branching away. She found herself alone and decided to go and break the good news to Katya. Now she had nothing to worry about. That bastard could not come for her.
Emma knocked on Katya’s door but there was no answer. A girl opened the next door and looked out before going back in. a few seconds later, the door opened and Katya walked out.
“Hi Emma, what’s up?”
“I need to tell you something.”
“Are you leaving again?” Katya asked. Ever since she ran off, her relationship with Katya had not been quite the same as before. The girl seemed wary over her. Emma figured she didn’t want to get close to Emma again because she could leave any time. Emma found that reasonable and tried not to feel negatively about it. She deserved it.
Since Katya did not make any move to open the door to her room, Emma decided to give her the news in the hallway.
“He’s dead,” Emma said.
“Who?” the young girl’s brows rose.
“The father,” Emma said.
Katya’s mouth widened and she went to open the door. “Come in.”
Emma stepped into the small room.
“Are you sure about this? How do you know that he’s really dead?”
“Because I was there,” Emma said, taking a seat on a lone chair. “I watched it happen a few minutes ago. Your brother killed him.”
“What happened?”
Emma sighed. “I found Lucius in the woods and got into an awkward situation. I ran away and wasn’t thinking so ended up going too far. He found me and said he was going to get his revenge on us for what we did. I managed to escape but he caught up with me again. He tied me to a tree and was going to rape me but thankfully Lucius arrived and saved me.”
“Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry you had to go through that because of me.”
“No, it had nothing to do with you. He was horrible man, that’s all. I’m glad he’s dead.”
“Me too. I had started dreaming about him, he wanted to kill me. I’m happy that the nightmare is finally over.”
Katya went and hugged Emma. “Thank you so much, Emma.”
“I didn’t do anything, except screaming as loud as I could. I was so scared.”
“You don’t look happy, what’s wrong?”
“It’s about Lucius,” Emma said, standing up. “I love him so much and I don’t know what to do about it.”
“There’s only one thing you can do. Be with him. He needs you, and you need him. Forget about everything else. Michelle, the pack, etcetera. Think of you two alone. I may be young but I think you two need each other now more than ever.”
Should she take advice from a fifteen year old? Emma wondered.
