After having dinner, Emma and Casey decided to walk around and see more of the pack. They met some of the friends Emma had made before running away. Two of them were seated in the front yard conversing. Emma and Casey joined them and talked for a while before deciding to leave. As they were leaving, Emma saw Ayleen leaving with one of Lucius’ men. Ayleen did not even acknowledge them as she strutted towards the car like she owned the whole world. Emma watched as she got into the car and it drove away.
The next day in the afternoon, Emma was feeling restless. She had not seen Lucius since the previous day and there was a lot on her mind. She couldn’t stop thinking about him. The fact that he was so near yet so far away from her was very inconvenient. At midday, she decided to take a walk in the gardens behind the pack house, looking at the beautiful rows of flowers and trees. When she got to the edge of the garden, she caught a whiff of his scent from the woods. Curious, she decided to venture out, despite knowing how dangerous it was. Amber had briefed her on the rules and one of them was to never get out without permission or at least company of others.
Not far from the edge, she found Lucius studying certain markings on the ground. He was walking around the area and looking serious as he stared at the ground. He bent down and picked up some soil and smelled it. After some time, he stood up.
“Are you going to stare at me and not say a thing?” he asked without turning.
Emma stepped forward. “Hello.”
He turned and in one swift movement, he was right in front of her. Lucius wasted no time, immediately kissing her. His kiss was rushed and intense as if he had been wanting to do it for a very long time. Emma felt her entire body responding and relaxing like that was all it had been wanting all along. She gave in and let the passion take over. She moved her body against his as their lips moved in sync. Instead of quenching the fire in her soul, it just added more flames. Emma felt like she would explode at the moment but soon her senses returned and she pulled away, scanning the area in horror.
“Someone could have seen us,” she said.
Lucius smiled. “I know, and I don’t care. In fact, I wish they would see us so that you would stop pretending. You want me as much as I want you. Aren’t you tired of this, pretending that you don’t feel everything you feel?”
“You act like it’s so easy.”
“It is. If you stop complicating things, everything will fall into place.”
Lucius came closer and put his hands around her waist. He pulled her close. Emma’s breath hitched and for a moment, she considered surrendering to the sensations raging in her body.
“You’re very beautiful, my lovely Emma. Why do you have to turn me down every time? I need you so much and it hurts so bad that I can’t have you all to myself. The fact that you’re so near and I can’t do all the things I want with you drives me crazy.”
His eyes were turning dark with desire. Emma felt hazy and weak, just looking at them. She had never felt that way with anyone, even her former mate Axel. “Let’s go away from here. I know a town where no one will find us. I want to wake up next to you. i…”
It was too tempting. Emma tried to pull away but his grip was tight.
“Please, let me go.” She begged.
“Why should I do that when you want this too? Why are you making us suffer?”
“Please, Lucius.”
When her pleas failed, Emma decided to trick him.
“Your mother is coming. She looks angry.”
Lucius loosened his hold but didn’t move. Immediately, she broke off and started running away. He looked at the direction she had pointed to but there was no one. He shook his head and just stared as she ran off to the other direction. Emma did not stop running. She was too preoccupied that she forgot about the dangers in the forest.
Every part of her was telling her to turn and get back to the man she loved but her legs pushed her onward. After some time, she got tired. She saw a spot surrounded by some shrubs and went to sit there. Now that she was a bit relaxed, she remembered the dangers of the forest for a lone young woman. There were vampires prowling all over the south. Emma didn’t understand why the werewolves did not unite to fight off vampire aggression. Did they even know what the vampire king was doing, creating hybrids that he would use to defeat all other creatures?
The grass was dry so Emma decided to lie down and stare at the sky. The sky was covered by white clouds moving slowly while occasionally blocking the sun. The atmosphere was still warm but Emma could tell that it would rain soon. She closed her eyes and imagined Lucius’ hands on her body. She felt her body shuddering and imagined his handsome face getting closer to hers and kissing her lips. A warm current went through her body and let out a moan.
Then she felt hands on her body. That scent. It was different. Emma’s eyes popped open immediately and she came to face with her worst nightmare. It was the vampire who had kidnapped and Katya. Emma screamed out in terror and the man’s palm landed on her lips.
“Did you think I would not get you?” the man asked. He smiled evilly showing his rotting teeth.
Emma struggled to move but he had straddled her. Trying to get up just got her body in contact with his nether regions which disgusted her. Before she could lift her hands, he grabbed them and started tying them together with a strong rope. Emma used this chance to scream as loud as possible, hoping that someone would hear her.
