Two days later, Lucius Bradford agreed to help Emma. Everyone in the pack had asked him not to do it, but he decided to help her anyway. They were able to communicate with Emma’s friends Shelly and Isaac of West Crescent pack. They sent some warriors who joined the few warriors of Blue Moon pack.
The plan was to lure Axel white away from his pack. Axel had about 20 warriors who were more than those of blue Moon and West Crescent pack going against him. Going into his territory would be too risky. Emma had never really found out what kind of defenses he had.
The chosen location was a lake called Sanos. It was in a no-man’s territory and quite close to Venom pack. The lake stretched a long way and the trees close to it had been cut down leaving behind lush vegetation. Emma looked around the beautiful lake as she put her feet into the cold water. She looked past the large lake and saw Lucius walking around with his men. Emma sighed.
He was so good looking, and quite charming. He had a really nice smile that Emma liked to see. She wished she saw it more often. She knew she wanted him. Unfortunately, Lucius already had a mate.
Granted, she was the biggest b! tch Emma had ever met. She was horrible to everyone at the pack except Lucius and they all seemed to dislike her but couldn’t do anything. The woman was their future luna and they had to respect her. Lucius didn’t seem happy with his mate either, and they seemed to argue a lot. Emma wondered why he still stayed with her despite everything.
He was a bit rough around the edges but he seemed to be a very kind man. The fact that he had decided to help her despite knowing how risky it was said a lot about the man. He could have just sent his warriors but he decided to come along as well. As Emma watched, the men sat down on some rocks and continued to talk, strategizing for the battle.
Ten minutes later, Emma got into the boat and crossed back to the other side.
“I have to go,” Lucius told her. “There has been a vampire attack at my friend’s pack and I’ve got to help him. I really wanted to be here but I can’t.”
“It’s okay,” Emma said. “You have done more than enough for me already. I really appreciate you taking this risk.”
“Alright,” he said, looking directly into her eyes. “I hope you get your friends back. You deserve to be happy.”
“You deserve to be happy too,” Emma told him.
His eyes narrowed a bit but he smiled. “Thank you. No, tie her up. Axel’s men will be here soon. We have to make them believe we’ve captured and her willing to surrender her.”
“Okay,” the leader of the warriors, Commander Jeffries said.
Two men tied Emma to the tree and sat near it. The others went into the woods and hid there, some climbing up leafy trees. All except the two with Emma had masked their scents. After Emma’s escape, Axel had told his trusted friends about it and word had travelled. Lucius had formulated a plan to trick Axel.
They had made people in the neighborhood spread rumors that a certain pack had taken her and had her near the river. They wanted Axel to send some of his men to come and reclaim her. If they were able to kidnap Axel’s men, they would be able to negotiate for the release of the other rogues.
When thirty minutes passed, Emma began to sweat. Axel hadn’t rose up for nothing. He was very crafty and strong. What if he had hatched his own plan that would lead to their defeat? What if everything went wrong and she ended up getting taken back to venom pack. Axel would surely torture and kill her for making a fool of his pack, and taking Ken with her.
Suddenly, Emma could sense new scents. The men near her stood up and got in position. When Emma looked up, she saw Axel with only 6 of his men all armed. Her heart raced. She had not thought Axel himself would come.
“Give her to me,” he said. “That little slave is mine. Let her go, gentlemen.”
Suddenly, the other men rushed and started fighting with Axel’s men. Emma looked at Axel and saw that he did not seem scared that he was outnumbered. The men fought bravely but within a few minutes, it was clear that Axel and his men were winning.
Suddenly, a blast of fire exploded in the area. Emma saw one of Axel’s men lifting his hand. Axel had brought a warlock with him. One of the men who had tied up Emma quickly untied her. “Run as fast as you can,” he said. Emma started running and the man followed her. The battle behind was getting more serious as the warlock increased the heat. The men who were fighting started running away from the fire that had started to burn everywhere.
Emma saw Axel running after her and increased her speed. Her heart was close to exploding and her chest was burning. The man she was with turned and shot out an arrow. It landed on Axel’s shoulder. Axel grimaced as he pulled the poisoned arrow out of his shoulder and continued to run after them. He started shooting at them with a gun that had silver bullets.
Emma and the men increased their pace and soon came to a thicker part of the forest.
“We need to separate,” the man said. By now Axel couldn’t see them but they could sense him going after them. “I’ll distract him. Run and hide in The Brennon caves. I know where to hide around here.”
“Are you sure you’ll be safe? Maybe it’s better to just give me up. I can handle it.”
“No, you go. I’ll be okay.”
They parted ways. Since her scent was hidden, Axel could only smell the man. Emma hoped that the man would be safe. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her.
