Seeking help

Book:The Alpha's Enslaved Mate Published:2024-6-3

Cilla’s POV
I could not bring myself to tell the twins the story of our parents’ death but they deserved to know it. Since I couldn’t do it, I decided to delegate to someone else. The only person who could help me was Cara.
While I was eating, the twins asked about our parents again. I looked at Cara for help and she understood me without hearing a word.
“Okay, kids. Your sister is not yet well. Let’s go outside and I’ll tell you everything about your mom and dad.”
“Did they really kill them?” Ren asked.
“Let’s go outside,” Cara said, standing up and leading them out. “Your sister is not well, and this might stress her out. Do you want to send her into a coma?”
“No,” Rose said.
Cara was gone for about an hour. I was more stressed than I thought I’d be. Waiting was wearing me out. I wanted to know how they had taken the news but no one was there to give me updates. All I could do was wait.
Cara returned alone.
“I’m sorry, they did not take it too well.”
I sat up quickly. “What happened? Where are they?”
“They’re at the infirmary,” she disclosed. “Kylena gave them sedatives so they can rest. It proved to be harder than I thought. I’m very sorry about what’s happening, Cilla.”
“It’s not your fault,” I said. “They should have been told about this a long time ago. They would have grieved at once and it would be over. This is just putting them fresh pain but it needed to be done. What am I going to do, Cara? I know nothing about parenthood. How am I going to take care of these kids?”
“I will be there with you every step of the way. We shall figure it out together, I promise. We shall learn as we go along. It’s very good that alpha Ridian decided to bring them back. Which reminds me of the fact that you have not yet thanked him.”
I sighed. “I don’t think I have the strength to go look for him now. I just want to go to the infirmary and see the kids. I’m very thankful to him but I can’t go to him right now.”
“I understand,” Cara said. “You go, wash your face and return when you’re done. I will take you to see them.”
“Thank you so much, Cara. I don’t know how I will ever repay you for everything you’ve done.”
“There’s no need to repay me for anything. This is what friends are for. One day, I’ll be down and it will be your job to lift me up.”
I smiled. “Of course, I will do that.”
Getting up, I went and opened the door before heading to the bathroom.
Rose and Ren were sleeping when we got to the infirmary. They looked so peacefully, as if their world hadn’t just been destroyed after being repaired. I touched Rose’s cheek and smiled sadly. She was the one that had a personality like my mother. Had she grown up while mother was around, they would have been twins in character.
Rose was soft spoken and had an even temperament. She was a peace maker and loved with all her heart. She had been very dependent on our mother. Although she had lived without her for long, she always had hope that they would reunite. Now that hope was all gone, shattered by a few words.
The first few days were very hard for the twins and everyone involved, especially Cara and I. We tried our best to give them all the comfort and assurance they required. After some time, they began to adjust to their new reality. They began to get used to the other kids in the pack, including Katy and her brother who they spent the most time together at the slave quarters.
They resided in a room next to mine so I was very comfortable and assured that they would be safe as long as I was around.
After the humiliation at the party, Jane still remained in the pack. Even when she was booted out of the alpha’s floor and sent to live in our building, she did not leave. I no longer had to work for her which was a big relief. Instead, Jane had to work in the farm with other pack members. She looked so funny in her outfit which composed of overalls, a hat and boots.
Meanwhile Ridian and I became closer. It all started when I went to thank him for bringing back my brothers. After thanking him verbally, I felt like hugging him because I was feeling emotional. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, we were rolling in the sheets, fulfilling each other’s deepest desires.
From that time, we began to talk more frequently. Sometimes, he came to me to inquire about the kids, how they were coping up, etc. We took walks around the pack while talking about different subjects. As I got to know him better, I realised that there was a lot we had in common. He was actually nicer than I had thought him to be. I realised that I’d judged him too harshly at certain points. He made some decisions because he was trapped and could not figure out other ways to sort them out.
Since our relationship was now public, it was so much better. Neither of us had to sneak around in order to do anything. People began to view me differently as well. I was no longer just a slave. I was the alpha’s mate. I could be the future Luna.
Ridian’s mother was not happy about the bond, but all his siblings seemed okay with me. I may not have been the best choice for the position, but I was better than Jane Willow, according to Brody. We joked about our encounter and I forgave him for what he did to me.
Camilla was very nice as well. She gave me a tour of her small facility and introduced me to the young girls she was working with. It was very kind of her to dedicate her time to empower those young women yet she was a rich princess that could afford to just spend all her life traveling and meeting new people. Camilla was so different from her mother and littles sister. She was very similar to Ridian and Brody also. The two brothers had some marked differences, but also a number of similarities.
I had always wished to travel to the city where my parents had taken me when I was the twins’ age. They had not yet been born. When I told Ridian about it, he said he would take me there. A few days later, he had me and the twins pack our stuff. Of course the twins did not know about the history of the place. I couldn’t tell them when they were just recovering from the shock. Now wanting to reopen old wounds, I just told them we were going for a fun tour. It was a relief to see the happiness in their faces.
When we were getting into the car to leave, I saw Jane Willow leaning against a tree at a distance. She was watching every move of ours like a hawk. I suspected she was planning something. She had been too calm lately, and for a person like her, that was not a good sign. Regardless, Ridian and I got into the car after the twins and it drove off. Ridian and I were seated on the middle seat while the twins were at the back, playing a hand game they had learnt from Katy.
I was sure Ridian had noticed his ex-girlfriend watching us but he decided not to say a thing which was okay with me. I knew that she was still a sore subject. She had hurt him when he needed her the most. That’s something people rarely forget.
The city was spectacular, even better than I remembered. Ren and Rose were very excited and that was everything. I knew that mom and dad where happy watching us at peace, finally. They could now rest since I had found a mate who would protect and provide for me like a real man.
I glanced at him and found myself smiling. How did I get so lucky? He decided to act like he had not noticed me, and that made me smile further. After driving through the city for about ten minutes, we came to the hotel we were going to stay in for the next few days.
It was a beautiful modern building with grey walls and blue windows. It had about five stories. As the car pulled in to the hotel, I turned and kissed the love of my life. I already knew we were going to enjoy our stay there.
