Marco looked at her hands and said, “We look so alike, and no one will be suspicious even if there are really some differences between us.”
“Others will certainly see through your tricks!” Serina roared at Marco indignantly.
Though Serina was quite angry, she couldn’t spot any flaws. Ernest knew Serina quite well, but he couldn’t find anything different either.
Serina didn’t know if Derek could see through Marco’s tricks.
“I also used to be worried about this, so I had always been quite careful. There was indeed something different between us.”
Marco pinched Serina’s ears and said, “I had got my ears pierced then, but you hadn’t!”
Serina grew more frightened. “What?”
“This is all thanks to your clever daughter. If your daughter hadn’t told me that she distinguished me from you through my pierced ears, I would still be blind to such a difference between us two.”
Serina froze.
“What a stupid girl you are! You chose to get your ears pierced just because the makeup artist said a few words to you! How could you so easily fall into my trap? Why were you so good to me?”
Again Marco burst into laughter.
“Marco! Whatever I’ve done, I’m your sister! How can you be so cruel to me?”
“Sister? Serina, I’ve never seen you as my sister! We are twins, but why can you live a wealthy life ever since you were born while I have to suffer?”
Marco tugged at Serina’s hair. “Derek and I had got a feeling for each other before you came out to disturb us. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have been his wife! You’ve just said you’re my sister, right? If you really take me as your sister, you should go away and give Derek back to me!”
“But the one Derek loves is me! And we’ve already got two kids!” Serina bit her lips, trying to endure the pain caused by Marco’s violent tug at her hair.
“Would he still love you if it weren’t for me? He might not even throw you a glance!” Marco roared with gritted teeth.
“Serina! You got everything you have today from me, so you should be grateful!” Marco flung Serina’s hair violently aside and released it.
“You can’t blame me for this because I’m just taking back what belongs to me. Don’t worry, I will take care of your daughters. No, they are now my daughters!”
“Thank you for giving birth to the adorable twin daughters for me!” Marco pinched Serina’s cheeks.
“Bitch!” Serina felt rage boiling up in her, but she knew it’s no use being angry.
“I will also give birth to a son for Derek. In the future, Derek will give everything he has to my son, and your daughter will get nothing!”
Marco looked up at the sky and laughed again.
“You’re back, Mar,” Brodie said as he walked out.
It looked as if Brodie had just woken up. Brodie rubbed his sleep-clogged eyes and walked towards Marco.
“Brodie, I need to go now. Please keep her under control.”
“Don’t worry, Mar. She won’t be able to untie herself even if I give her a knife!” said Brodie with great confidence.
“You’re always quite reliable.” Marco gave Brodie a knowing look.
“Be careful, Mar. Don’t let Derek see through your tricks,” Brodie reminded Marco.
“I see,” Marco said in a soft voice which formed a striking contrast with her ferociousness when she spoke to Serina.
Serina looked at Marco and Brodie and felt the relationship between them quite unusual.
Marco checked the time on a mobile phone. Serina could see clearly that it was her phone.
“Alright, it’s time to go to the kindergarten to pick up my two lovely daughters,” Marco said and cast a triumphant glance at Serina.
“Okay, be careful,” Brodie nodded and said.
“Goodbye, my dear sister!” Marco smiled brightly and left.
Serina didn’t even have the strength to roar.
She had been overwhelmed with despair.
Brodie also went out of the factory. A few minutes later, he came back with a dead rabbit in his hand.
After setting up a bonfire in the factory, Brodie skillfully skinned the rabbit and began to roast it.
Serina felt sick as she saw the bloody rabbit. ‘What a savage man he is!’ Serina thought.
Brodie glanced at Serina and said, “Grilled rabbit is a rare delicacy! When I was on a mission abroad, I had nothing to eat but the rabbit!”
Serina tried to vomit but failed.
Soon the roast rabbit was done. Brodie cut a leg off the rabbit and handed it to Serina, but Serina turned her head away.
“Well, then I’ll eat it myself. I even begrudge you the delicacy!” Brodie glanced at Serina and started to gorge on the roast rabbit.
“Aren’t you afraid that the smoke will attract people’s attention? It seems that you’re also quite stupid.”
Brodie snorted and said, “The factory is rather big. Even if the smoke can drift out, it will soon disperse. No one can notice it.”
Serina was rendered speechless. She knew that Brodie had taken into consideration anything she could think of.
‘How did I end up in his hands?’ Serina thought.
“I’ve got some bread for you. I’ll make you eat some after I finish my meal.” Brodie gave Serina a sideways glance and continued to eat his rabbit.
When Brodie was full, he went into the small room and took out a loaf of bread. He walked to Serina, tore a small piece off the loaf, and handed it over to Serina’s mouth.
Serina hesitated at first, but she was really hungry then. ‘What if I get a chance to escape?’ she thought.
Serina knew she had to eat, otherwise she wouldn’t even have the strength to run away.
She opened her mouth and ate the piece of bread that Brodie handed over to her lips.
“How can you place so much trust in me? Aren’t you afraid that I will poison you?”
“You have easier ways to kill me. Poisoning me causes you too much bother,” Serina said as she chewed the bread in her mouth.
Brodie grinned. His dark skin set off his white teeth to their best advantage.
“You’re quite smart, aren’t you?”
Serina struggled to swallow the bread in her mouth. Seeing Serina’s agonized look, Brodie took a bottle of water and started to feed Serina alternately water and bread.
When Serina was full, she cast a glance at Brodie.
“You like Marco, don’t you?”
Brodie took a gulp of water. “What? If I like her, how can I give her to Derek? Stupid girl!”
Serina noticed that Brodie fidgeted his legs in an unnatural way, which confirmed her suspicion about his feelings for Marco.
“There’s a type of person who is particularly selfless. If he likes someone, he will be happy as long as she lives well. He will work hard for everything she hopes to get even if it means he should sacrifice his own happiness.”
