Blueberry covered her Cherry mouth as she watched the car stop and start the engine.
Along with the headlights, Blueberry read the license plate.
“It’s Daddy’s car!” she shouted out.
“Really? Did dad come to pick us up?”
Blueberry stood up from the bushes and shouted in the direction of the car, “Daddy!”
Cherry also got up. “Daddy!”
Tired and hungry as the twins, their voices were faint.
The car still moved.
Blueberry and Cherry chased after the car and shouted, “Daddy!”
Derek, in the car, worried and anxious, heard someone calling out, “Daddy.”
“Hayden, did you hear children’s voices?” Derek thought he might hallucinate with voices.
“No, Mr. Darion. It’s late at night, and it’s in the suburbs. How can there be some children? You just got off the plane. You might be too tired.”
Hayden turned his head and said to Derek.
Derek nodded and did not care too much about it, thinking that he might be too anxious.
Another “Daddy” sounded.
“Stop!” Derek shouted.
The driver stepped on the brakes.
“Mr. Darion, are you alright?” Hayden turned his head once again.
“I heard Blueberry and Cherry!” Derek turned around and saw the twins running towards the car.
He quickly opened the door of the car and went to the twins.
“Daddy!” Cherry first threw herself into Derek’s arms, Blueberry followed.
Derek held the twins in his arms and burst into tears.
“Don’t be afraid. It’s all right, you’re all right! Daddy is here.” Derek comforted the two children.
Cherry was crying so hard that she was shivering in Derek’s arms.
“Daddy, go and save Mommy!” Blueberry pointed in the direction of the factory and said.
“Is Mommy still inside?”
“Mommy pulled that woman and let me and Cherry escape first.”
“I see!” Derek immediately carried the children to the car and ordered the driver to go in the direction of the factory.
Derek called the police as soon as he got off the plane. He reported the situation and the specific location to the police, hoping that they would not alert Zoe. She might have hurt his wife and children.
The police were on their way there.
But Derek was so worried about Serina and the twins that he rushed over with Hayden.
The car stopped near the factory. Derek did not let the driver approach, worried that this would anger Zoe.
While they were in the car, Cherry kept crying and Derek could only learn about the situation from Blueberry.
“Hayden, stay in the car and watch over the twins. I will go over myself,” Derek instructed.
“Mr. Darion, why don’t we wait for the police to come and see what we can do?” Hayden looked at Derek worriedly.
“No, now that the twins have run out, Serina is dragging Zoe alone. I am worried that Zoe will take the risk or get angry and hurt Serina! You stay in the car and watch over the twins. I will go first. When the police arrive, you can explain the situation inside to them.”
“Alright.” Hayden nodded.
Cherry was still crying very hard. She was scared out and held onto Derek’s arm, refusing to let him go.
“Cherry, wait here for Daddy. Daddy is going to save Mommy.” Derek held Cherry in his arms and gently comforted her.
“Cherry, don’t cry anymore. Mommy is still in that bad woman’s. Remember?” Blueberry said.
Cherry sobbed. At that moment, she could no longer hear anything.
But time waited for no man!
Derek pried open Cherry’s hands and stuffed her into Hayden’s arms.
Cherry cried out again.
“Cherry, wait for Daddy. Daddy will be back soon.”
Seeing his daughter cry sadly, Derek felt sorry. But he had to harden his heart and open the car door. The moment he got out of the car, someone grabbed his clothes.
He turned around and saw Blueberry.
“Daddy, I’ll go with you.”
“Blueberry, you’re still too young. Stay here with Cherry.”
“No. Cherry is fine. She is just scared. She will calm down soon. I want to find Mommy,” said Blueberry calmly.
“No, it’s too dangerous inside. Wait here, I will save Mommy.” Derek stroked her hair.
“But I’m worried about Mommy. Daddy, just let me go. Don’t waste any more time. I won’t cause trouble for you.”
Derek hesitated for a moment before finally nodding.
He carried Blueberry out of the car.
Blueberry insisted on walking on her own, so Derek had to let her go on her own.
The father and the daughter slowly approached the factory.
The car stopped at the back of the factory. It was late at night and there were no lamps. Derek did not dare to use his phone or flashlight to illuminate the place.
“The door is over there.” Blueberry pointed.
“Really?”
Blueberry nodded, “Cherry and I came from there. I’ll take you there, Dad.”
“Good job.”
It was only at this moment that Derek realized that it might have been the right decision to take Blueberry. She was very smart. She had escaped from it. She knew the situation inside better than him.
Derek held his breath and listened carefully to the voice inside. There seemed to be no sound inside.
“Hope everything is alright,” he thought.
Blueberry took Derek to the front of the factory, where she and Cherry escaped.
“Daddy, this is the door where we escape.” Blueberry pointed.
“Blueberry, wait for Daddy here, okay?” Derek asked as he squatted down.
“I want to go in and save Mommy,” Blueberry shook her head.
“But you are still too young. It will be better when you grow up. Daddy needs to save Mommy. I can’t protect you at the same time.”
“I don’t need Daddy to protect me. I can protect myself. I can run.” Blueberry tilted her little head, her eyes filled with determination.
“Alright. Stay behind Daddy. If anything happens, you have to listen to Daddy, understand?” Derek gritted his teeth.
Blueberry nodded.
Derek walked in front, slowly approaching the door.
Just as he was about to reach the door, he suddenly heard a shot from inside!
A gunshot broke the silence of the night!
Derek looked at the door in horror.
“Serina?”
He immediately strode towards the door. “Serina, you must be alright! Please!”
Blueberry was also frightened. She had seen Zoe shoot Serina’s leg. She knew the sound just now was a gunshot.
Derek walked to the door. The door was tightly shut.
