Derek turned to Hayden with suspicion in his eyes.
Hayden scratched his head in embarrassment, “When I was in a relationship before, my ex-girlfriend said that women didn’t necessarily mean what she said.”
Derek smiled. “Are you saying that men have to be shameless if they want to win their women over?”
“To some extent, that’s true. Mr. Darion, I know you don’t like to play up to others. After all, you are such an honored man. But it’s not about honor when it comes to women. It’s all about love.”
“All about love?”
“Look at those emperors from ancient times. Some women could even break their hearts and make them suffer. It’s the same thing. Mr. Darion, why not try to be less self-conscious? Besides, you still have the girls. I’m sure you can win Mrs. Lambert back.”
Derek nodded. “Let’s go to the mall.”
“Go to the mall!” Hayden immediately told the driver.
The car soon reached the largest shopping mall downtown. Hayden got out of the car along with Derek. They headed for the fifth floor, where all the maternal and infant supplies were sold.
There were all kinds of children’s toys. Many women came with children, some husbands came with them, and even some pregnant women.
A pregnant woman soon caught the attention of Derek. She was alone, with no family around her.
The woman stood at a counter of baby products, looking for a baby’s bottle.
Because her belly was big, she had to prop up her waist with her hand. She could only select the bottle with the other hand.
Derek couldn’t help but relate to Serina. When Serina was pregnant, she must have been like the pregnant woman.
Serina must have gone to buy those baby supplies alone. She must have had great trouble because of her belly. She was expecting twins back then, so she must have had more trouble than those women expecting a single child.
With that, Derek couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Serina. No wonder she said that she didn’t need him anymore.
Looking back, when Serina was pregnant, Zoe went out of her way to attack “Queen Serina.” At that time, life must have been extremely difficult for Serina.
Serina had already gone through the hardest time. What was to worry about?
“Mr. Darion, look, isn’t that the giraffe toy Miss Cherry mentioned?” Hayden pointed at the door of a toy store and said.
Derek gained his senses back and looked in the direction Hayden was pointing.
There was a tall giraffe at the entrance of the shop, and some little giraffes were hanging on the neck of the big giraffe.
Derek walked over with Hayden. Derek touched the giraffe toy’s head when a salesperson walked out.
“Sir, are you looking for a toy? This is the treasure of our shop. There’s only one of its kind.”
Derek looked around the store. There were all kinds of toys of different shapes and colors. The giraffe toy was the only one that was displayed outside.
“Only one of its kind?” Derek asked.
“There’s another one, but a little smaller than this one. Let me show it to you. Our giraffes sell very well. However, many parents think that this one is too big for their homes. They all asked for the smaller ones.”
As the salesperson spoke, the shop owner carried out another giraffe.
The giraffe toy was then placed together with the one at the door. It was smaller. The two looked like a couple when placed together.
“I’ll take both of them.” Derek smiled.
Hearing that, the salesperson then looked at the expensive suit Derek was wearing as well as the assistant-look man beside Derek.
The salesperson then said, “Sir, are you buying it for your kid? Would you like to take the little giraffe toy with you? Look at the two. They look like a couple. If you take some little ones as well, they will look like a family together! How lovely that will be!”
The salesperson tried hard to sell the giraffe toys.
Looking at the little giraffes hanging on the neck of the big giraffe, Derek smiled as well.
Hayden said before Hayden did, “We’ll take two more little ones.”
“Make it four,” Derek said with a smile.
Hayden was dumbfounded. “But Mr. Darion, you only have one pair of twins!”
Derek glanced at Hayden and did not speak.
Hayden slapped his forehead, “Oops! I see! Mr. Darion still wants another pair of twins! I heard that twins are controlled by genes. Perhaps Mrs. Lambert can indeed give birth to another pair of twins! It would be better if she could give birth to a pair of boys!”
The salesperson immediately nodded and went to the warehouse to get the giraffe toys. After a while, she came out with only one little giraffe in her hand.
“Sir, I’m really sorry. These little giraffes sell too well. There is only this one left. Including the two outside, there are only three in total.”
Hayden immediately said, “Please try harder! It’s a pity to ruin the meaning!”
The salesperson looked troubled. “These are all we have. Why don’t you take these three first and leave us your number? We’ll contact you when we have the little giraffes refilled.”
Hayden was about to say something when Derek raised his hand. “I see. It will work.”
In the Children’s Hospital.
Serina let Cherry have her phone and asked her to watch cartoons with Blueberry on her phone, while Serina sat in the corner of the ward, writing her novel.
“Cherry, Blueberry, stay away from the screen. Don’t get too close.”
Serina stuck her head out to remind the girls and continued writing her novel.
Blueberry and Cherry were watching cartoons when Nora suddenly showed up.
“My dear little Cherry! Are you feeling better?”
Nora was carrying a plastic bag filled with snacks.
“Ms. Nora, what brought you here?” Serina immediately got up and put her laptop aside.
“Hello, Auntie Nora!” The two girls greeted Nora politely.
Nora looked at Serina’s laptop and gave her a thumbs-up. “What a hard worker! You’ve gone beyond my expectations now!”
“Save it. If I don’t go on writing the novel, the girls and I will all be starving!”
“But Derek…”
Serina immediately put her finger in the middle of her lips, and Nora immediately shut her mouth. Nora didn’t say the rest out.
“Cherry, are you feeling better?”
“I’m feeling much better, Auntie Nora!” Cherry replied with a smile.
“That’s good news. Try not to make your mom worried anymore. You freaked me out as well.”
Nora didn’t stay for a long time. “Serina, why don’t you see me off? I happen to have something to talk about with you.”
“Okay.” Serina turned around to check on Cherry and Blueberry. “You two stay here and watch the cartoon obediently. I will send Auntie Nora off.”
With that, Serina and Nora walked out of the ward together.
“Nora, what are you gonna say? You are being weird.”
