Stephen’s POV
.
Yesterday, after all the drama, I reached 3in Ryan’s office when he told me, ”Beta Stephen, I found something.’
“What’s it? I hope whatever it is, and it should be useful.”, I said, recalling my insult again and again.
“Well, it is.”
“Finally, I found a proof against her.”, I muttered, waiting for him to confirm the same.
“Actually, it is not any proof against Ms. Williams.”, he said reluctantly, looking at me to read my expression.
“Then?”
“It’s against Luna of Silver Moon Pack, in short, her mother.”, he said and played the recording in which she had talked with some vampire named SILAS to kill Evangeline.
It meant that the attack was never for Daniel. It was for Eva and Daniel fell in it. Why didn’t I think in this way before?
But why would she want to kill Eva in the first place?
I played the recording again. She had not mentioned Aleena’s name anywhere. So, was that possible that I doubted her for no reason? Maybe she was really innocent, and I treated her like a criminal.
The single thought made me feel remorse.
Just like everyone says, ‘It is better to let the crime of a guilty person go unpunished than to condemn the innocent.’
“Do you find anything else?” I asked him, on which he shook his head. “Keep a tab on her phone all the time. I will have to stay ahead of her planning in case she plans something against Eva because she is going to be the Luna of the pack and my brother’s mate. And on the top, Eva being a hybrid adds one more reason why someone will want to kill her. I don’t want to see Daniel in the same situation in which I was once. Because I know how hard it is to stay without a mate.”, I said, recalling Diana, my fated mate. It had been five years, five fucking years without her. I barely got a chance to know her when we met at a ball dance party arranged by the werewolves king to invite all the unmated males and females so that they could find their mate.
I remembered how lost and broken I was then when I found my mate’s lifeless body between the hundreds of dead bodies. I shook my head, trying to push those memories away from distracting me from my work.”
“I got it. What about Ms. Williams? Are you sure that she has nothing to do with her?” he asked.
“To be honest, I’m not sure right now. Maybe she was involved in this situation, maybe not. Because an appalled doesn’t fall far away from the tree. As for now, we don’t have any proof against her because she might be using the mind link to contact her mother. All we have to do now is to lay a trap.”, I said, thinking about the situation.
As per Eva, no one knew about her being a hybrid except her father.
It meant that they weren’t planning to kill Eva because she was a hybrid.
And recalling the recording of that call, the vampire approached that place because they were asked to kill a human, not a hybrid.
So, what else could be the reason behind planning her murder?
“If anyone asks about me, then tell them that I went out for some word.”, I said to Ryan and picked up the phone to dispatch to its original place. Everything should look normal just like before because if anyone would find out that something was fishy, then they would be alert, and that was the last thing I wanted to happen. Taking that scent hiding perfume again, I left the pack.

I came to know that Daniel was mad at Eva because she didn’t say a word to her sister when she was insulting me.
Like seriously?
Were they spoiling their relationship because of Aleena and me? I didn’t rub my nose on the ground to see all this. I could just hope that this wasn’t serious because I seriously didn’t want to be the reason for their fights, and then I looked at that Powerpuff.
What did she think when she brought Eva between everything?
Was she really wanted her sister to reject her own mate?
But why would she do anything like that?
I didn’t get a chance to think about this when Daniel’s mind linked all of us, ‘Angel has mistakenly used salt instead of sugar in the cake. So, make sure that no one will tell her anything about it and hurt her in many ways. Her Lycan, Ivory, can sense the lie, so compliment her efforts that she put into preparing the cake or compliment the cake design or flavor of it in such a way that it wouldn’t be actually a lie. In short, we don’t have to lie but to hide the truth.’
Everyone agreed to it. ‘And I swear if her sister tells her the truth, then I will throw her out of pack house, right now, right here.’ Roman growled in anger since she wasn’t from our pack, so we couldn’t share what we had decided.
But thankfully, she didn’t tell her the truth and went with the flow.

After Dinner!!
‘Stephen, Both Eva and me will leave from the pack tomorrow early morning.’, Daniel informed me through the mind link.
‘Okay. But where?’
‘I have to meet with her family.’
‘Her family as in Alpha Francis Williams’s pack, right?’ I asked.
‘No. Her real family.’
‘What do you mean, Daniel? Just don’t beat around the bush and tell me the truth.’
‘Her parents and her brother along with a few other vampires.’,
‘You’re joking, right?’ I asked as if he had gone insane. And how come Eva’s family members were the vampires in the first place?
I must say that the Luna of the pack had a lot of secrets.
I didn’t ask anything about her family members from him but being a werewolf, and he was going to meet vampires, our enemies, who wanted nothing but to kill us at mare sight of us.
‘Don’t worry about me so much, Stephen. They are my in-laws. Moreover, before marrying Eva, I needed to talk with them as well. I’m sharing all these things which you so that you won’t freak out like others, and at the same time, being a beta, you should know where your Alpha is going.’
‘Are you sure that you want to risk your life? Because vampires loath us.’ I asked again for reconfirmation.
‘As pretty much as sure that I will be marking my mate the day after tomorrow night after proposing to her.’, he said, getting excited.
‘Fine then! But you will have to problem me that you will update about you being alive after every one hour and not just that I needed to know where are going!!’
‘Noted, father.’
‘Just come in one piece, okay?’
‘I promise. I will. Eva trusts them, and I trust in the faith that she had in them. Otherwise, even you know that I’m not a big fan of vampires too.’
‘Okay.’
‘Good night, now. My mate is glaring at me because I was ignoring her because of you.’, he joked before closing the mind link. I didn’t want to get jealous of him but seeing him with his mate was making me realize that now there would be no one by my side to hang out with. Not that I wanted Daniel to leave her mate and enjoy his time with me, but I knew along with time, everyone was going to settle with his or her mate and then with their children, and I would be left alone to deal with my loneliness.
I shook my head from that part and got back to work mode.
‘Ryan, did you find something?’
‘Not yet. Don’t worry about it, Beta. I will not miss a single second to inform you when I will find anything. She is a werewolf. I’m sure half of her work can be completed through the mind link itself.’
‘I know, but at the same time, I doubt that someone from Silver Moon Pack will think of hurting Eva, knowing that she is Alpha’s favorite child, but again, expectations are always there. We can’t trust anyone.’
‘Agree.’,
