Derek said nothing and left in a hurry.
Yolanda was lecturing Serina, and Serina muttered, “Mom, he must have something urgent. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry to leave. Stop saying anything more.”
“Anyway, I can’t let you be with him.”
“He has kneeled before you! He never did this before.” Serina was unhappy.
As he spoke, Henry walked over and said, “Mrs. Derek, Mr. Derek told me to bring you back to Polaris City. What do you think?”
“What, Mrs. Derek? Who is Mrs. Derek?” Yolanda didn’t like this address at all.
“Mom, Derek, and I haven’t divorced yet. Of course, I’m Mrs. Derek.” Serina turned to Henry and said, “I’ll go back to Polaris City with you.”
Derek’s arrangement was reasonable. After all, there were many apartments and people there, and the security was good. If Lauren wanted to make a move on Serina, she wouldn’t do it in Polaris City.
“Mom, do you want to stay at my place for a while?” Serina looked at Yolanda.
“Please go together. The place over there is big enough.” Henry hurriedly invited Yolanda.
“Alright then.” Before this matter was resolved, Yolanda could not leave Serina for the time being.
Henry sent a car to bring Serina and Yolanda back to Polaris City.
After a busy day, Yolanda was indeed tired. She rested in the guest room upon returning to Polaris City.
Serina had no mood to rest because she did not know what had happened to Derek and was concerned about him.
She did not dare to call Derek, worried that it would cause trouble for Derek, so she called Ernest.
“Ernie! Do you know what happened to Derek?”
“What happened? I’ve done all the work, and I’m heading back,” Ernest replied.
“Is that so? Then come to my place. Polaris City.”
“Alright.” Ernest was confused. Didn’t she want to divorce Derek? Why was she asking about him?
An hour later, Ernest arrived.
Ernest sat on the sofa after lunch. Serina was eating a bucket of potato chips.
“Stop eating! Look at how fat you are!” Ernest grabbed Serina’s potato chips and ate one piece.
“Return it to me!” Serina immediately snatched it back. “I’ve been vomiting for the past few days. I’ve almost vomited my intestines out! Luckily, I’m in a better mood today and have an appetite.”
“What happened to you? Did you always throw up? Didn’t you go to the hospital for a checkup? How is it?” Ernest asked eagerly.
Serina then touched her belly, “Congratulations, you are going to be an uncle!”
“Be an uncle?”
Serina touched her temples. “No, I’m wrong. The child of Derek and I should be your … brother! Or sister!”
“What? What nonsense are you talking about?” Ernest failed to understand.
Serina rolled her eyes at Ernest, “Ernie, are you overwhelmed by filming? Don’t you understand?”
“I’m pregnant!” she said, pointing at her belly.
“What? You’re pregnant?” For this news, Ernest was very shocked!
She got Derek’s child…
“Aren’t you going to divorce him? Didn’t you say that you were not willing to be anyone’s substitute? Now you…”
Ernest couldn’t accept the fact that Serina was pregnant.
Serina sat up, patted Ernest on the shoulder, and told him the cause and effect of the matter.
Stroking her belly, she smiled happily. “I intended to have an abortion today, but as soon as the anesthetic needle stuck into my body when I was lying in the operating room, I regretted it! I immediately pulled the needle away and scared the doctor. Fortunately, I was injected just a little bit. Otherwise, it would hurt the baby.”
“Serina! Are you kidding me? Are you going to be with Derek and give birth to the child?”
“Yes, I told the doctor in time that I couldn’t do it. I absolutely couldn’t do it! Maybe it was because of the telepathy. Derek came and said he loves me.”
Thinking of the scene of Derek kneeling to Yolanda for her, Serina felt her heart soften.
Ernest lowered his head. The hope that had just been ignited was suddenly shattered.
Serina suddenly patted Ernest on the shoulder. “Hey, don’t tell him yet. I guess he might think I’ve done the abortion. Even my mother thought so when she saw me coming out of the operating room. They’re in the dark now.”
“Why?”
“Yolanda doesn’t agree with me being with Derek now. She thought that I had aborted the child, so I had to hide it first. When she agrees, I’ll tell him the good news to cheer him up.”
“It’s up to you.” Ernest’s spirit was dampened.
“Don’t blurt it out!”
“Got it!” Ernest responded listlessly.
“You should be happy because you’re going to be a brother. Why are you so listless?”
“How old am I? A brother, not a father!”
“If you want to be a father, find a girlfriend!” Serina scolded. At this moment, she acted like Ernest’s aunt. “By the way, what happened to Derek?”
“How would I know?”
“Why don’t you ask?”
Just as Ernest was about to speak, his phone rang.
He turned on his phone and saw that it was Derek calling.
“Speak of the devil,” Ernest answered the phone. “Hello, Derek.”
“Ernest, where are you now?” Derek’s voice was very low.
“I’m … here with Serina.”
“Come to Central Hospital right now. The intensive care unit. Your grandfather is … dying. He wants to see you.”
Ernest opened his mouth but said nothing, looking at Serina.
“What did he say? Give me the phone!” Serina snatched the phone from Ernest’s hand, but the call was ended.
“He hung up? Hey, what did he say?”
“My grandfather is dying. He wants me to go to the ICU immediately.” Ernest swiftly got up, “I have to hurry over!”
Ernest ran away as fast as he could.
Serina was left alone, not knowing what to do. Derek’s father was in the intensive care unit, about to die.
Derek’s father…
No wonder Derek’s expression was so terrible that he left without saying anything.
Ernest drove to the hospital and came to the ICU.
Derek was outside the door, and Lauren was standing beside him.
“Derek…”
“Hurry and go in. Your grandfather is waiting for you.”
Ernest nodded as he walked into the ward.
“Derek, you go in too.” Lauren gave him a look.
Derek shook his head, “I won’t go. Let my dad talk with Ernest for a while.”
