Serina pushed open the door of Derek’s room.
Derek was leaning against the bed, reading a book foolishly. This was the book that Serina had found for him from the book room.
“You are back.”
Serina closed the door, walked to the bedside, and sat down. “What do you want to eat tonight? I will make it for you.”
“I’ve been lying in bed for so long and haven’t moved at all. I’m not hungry.”
“OK, then.” Serina was a little disappointed.
Derek could see her through at a glance.
“Are you unhappy?”
Serina shook her head.
“Did your mother scold you?”
Serina shook her head again.
Derek reached out and held Serina’s hand. “Then why are you unhappy? You were fine when you went out.”
Serina smiled. “I’m fine. Women are all like this, too emotional. You have known women. Don’t you know that?”

“I’ve never touched them, will you believe me?” Derek looked at her affectionately.

Serina pondered for a moment and looked up. “Haven’t you ever touched them?”
“You just said you didn’t believe it, so why are you asking?”

Women were two-faced. Serina had believed what Derek had said, though she said she didn’t.
“Then why did you bring them over every few days?”
Hearing her ask this question, Derek knew she believed him.
“That was my mother’s arrangement.”
Serina did not ask any further.
It was not that simple in a rich and powerful family. A mother could send a woman to her son to sleep with. Such a family!
At night, Derek was not hungry and Serina was not in a good mood. Both of them did not want to eat much, so Serina prepared two simple dishes. They didn’t finish the meals.
The night seemed to be very long. Serina took her childhood photo album and shared it with Derek.
When she was a child, Serina was not as slim as she was now. Her chubby little face made her like a doll in the painting.
“I was so fat when I was a child.”

Serina flipped through a page of the photo album and did not continue the topic. “I’m done! I’m going back to sleep.”
Just as she was about to put away the photo album, Derek suddenly grabbed her hand. “Stay with me tonight.”
Serina was a little dazed. Was he pleading with her?
“Stay with me tonight.”
Derek repeated his words.
Serina couldn’t help but blush. “You want me to stay with you tonight?” She wondered what Derek meant by saying that.
“What are you thinking about? My ribs are broken. I can’t do anything to you.”
Serina laughed awkwardly. Well, he simply wanted her to stay with him!

“How is it?” Derek asked.
“My mother is very strict with me. She won’t let me sleep in your room.”
“Didn’t you tell her that we are husband and wife now?”
“I did, but my mom thought I was too hasty. Besides, our registration was just a mistake.”
“Forget it,” said Derek. A trace of disappointment flickered in his eyes.
“You should think about how to soften up your mother-in-law. It’s better not to upset her now.”
“I’m going back to my room. Good night,” Serina said as she gently patted Derek on the shoulder.
She bent down and kissed him on his face.
Then, she left reluctantly.
She lived next door. She did not feel sleepy at all.
She turned on the laptop and opened the document of her novel.
Perhaps, her mother was right. If she wanted to be with a man for a lifetime, she would have to be a match for him.
He had his career and Serina also needed one which she was proud of.
Serina typed quickly.
