Clara sat on the chair and took out a tissue to wipe the water stains from the corner of her mouth.
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“You can’t go on like this. Look at all these movies I set you up with.” Mia shook the documents in her hand, “Especially the one that is about to start shooting. This movie has a big budget and the director of the movie has made quite a few female stars famous. You have to seize this opportunity.”
Clara subconsciously touched her belly, “The baby is just over a month old now. I should be able to finish filming this one, right?”
Mia glanced at Clara and said, “It will take about two months. It’s not a chick flick, but an action movie. You are a heroine in it. You need to be on wires in many scenes and you need to do many martial arts. I’m covering for you now. But if the director knows you’re pregnant, he will definitely fire you!”
Clara sighed, “I know.”
Mia put the information on the table. “Clara, you are now in the upward phase of your career. Although your marriage with Sammy can bring you some fame for a while, you still need some representative works!”
Clara was also clear about it.
“After you get married, you should immediately join the crew and work hard. Sammy can pay a few visits to the set. When that time comes, I’ll arrange for a few interviews with reporters. People would start to know you even before the film is released. You will definitely be popular after that.”
Seeing that Clara was lost in thought, Mia patted the back of her hand and said, “Clara, I have been through this. Your status in your husband’s family will be determined by your fame. In the end, men are unreliable. Women still have to rely on themselves.”
“I understand, Mia.”
“Good. Of course, it will be perfect to have both love and a career.”
Clara nodded and put a hand on her stomach, “I have to find the perfect time to announce that I’ m pregnant.”
Just as the two of them were talking, Clara’s phone rang. Seeing the number on the screen, a sinister smile appeared on Clara’s face.
—
Love Café.
Clara came here in a private van, wearing big sunglasses. When she got out of the car, she was shocked to see two Rolls-Royce cars parking side by side at the door.
She didn’t expect to see such nice cars in a remote place like this.
Clara glanced at the Rolls-Royces and walked straight into the café. As soon as she entered, a man in a suit walked over. “Ms. Clara? Madame is waiting for you upstairs.”
“Madame?”
“Ms. Serina.” The man smiled.
Clara immediately got puzzled. Since when had Serina been called Madame? Did she get married in such a short time? It must be some kind of trick.
As she was thinking about the questions, Clara followed the man upstairs into a private room.
As soon as she went in, she was frightened by what she saw inside. Serina was leaning against the sofa with her legs crossed. Beside her stood two people. One was wearing a black suit with a briefcase in his hand, and the other was wearing a white coat and a pair of wide-rimmed glasses.
“Serina, didn’t you say that it would only be us two? Who are these two gentlemen?”
Serina beckoned to Clara, “Come on, let me introduce you. This is my private lawyer. After I leave this room today, if I am sued by someone, or if there is any malicious slander in the media, I think the lawyer would help me.”
Clara’s face turned pale.
“And this is our family doctor. You’re pregnant now. I can’t afford to let anything happen to you. Therefore, it would be more convenient for me to bring a doctor here.”
Clara awkwardly brushed her hair, “Serina, it seems like you think I would hurt you.”
“No, I’m not afraid of you hurting me, I’m afraid that I would hurt you!” When Serina said this, her eyes narrowed slightly.
Clara couldn’t help but be vigilant. “Why did you say that? We are sisters. Why would my big sister hurt me?”
Serina gestured Clara to stop and handed her phone to the man who had just brought Clara in. Then, she stood up and took a spin in front of Clara.
“I don’t have any wiretaps on me and my phone has been taken away. There’s no need for you to pretend to be nice anymore.”
Clara glanced at the two people beside her, and Serina immediately understood, “They also don’t have anything on them. If you don’t believe me, you can go search them.”
“I believe you.” Clara had no reason not to.
Serina snapped her fingers and said, “Bring this lady a cup of milk tea.”
Clara looked at the table. There was already a cup of coffee in front of Serina. The cups in this café seemed to be very unique.
There was a cartoon car on the frosted porcelain cup. The eyes of the car were bright and lively.
The milk tea was served soon and placed in front of Clara.
“Serina, that person just called you Madame. When did you become a Madame?”
“When my good sister stole my fiancé! My husband is very rich. Did you see the Rolls-Royces downstairs? They are mine.”
Clara was quiet for a moment, then she smiled, “I didn’t expect that you have the ability to find yourself a sugar daddy. Our parents still don’t know about this, right?”
“I expect you will go home and tell everyone about it today, won’t you?”
Clara stirred her drink and smiled.
“I don’t want to beat around the bush. I just want to ask you, Clara, did you do anything to make Sammy sleep with you on my birthday night?”
That day at the bar, when Sammy said that he was drunk and was unable to control himself, Serina started to suspect that this wasn’t a simple drunken mistake.
Someone may have planned all this!
“How is that possible?” Clara was very calm, “Sammy was drunk. Isn’t it normal for a man to do something wrong when he is drunk?”
“Sammy is different from other men! I know him too well! Normally, when Sammy drinks too much, he would feel a headache and want to vomit and sleep. How could he sleep with you that night?”
Clara shook her head, “Serina, there are exceptions to everything.”
“Not for Sammy! I’ve known him for 22 years. He wouldn’t do such a thing in normal circumstances. Be honest with me. I’m married anyway, so I won’t do anything to you. I just want to know how it happened!”
Serina didn’t want to waste any more time.
Clara took a sip of milk tea and said, “Since you want to know the truth so badly, then I might as well tell you. The wine Sammy drank that day was drugged by me.”
“It really was you!”
“So what? Do you want to know something else? I can tell you everything.”
