In the Norris’.
It was already late at night. Sammy was about to go home after sending Clara back to her bedroom. Just as they passed by the study, the door was opened.
Serina went out of it. When she saw Sammy and Clara standing in the corridor, she straightened her back and walked to them with a swagger.
“Serina, are you alright?” Clara asked with concern.
“Thanks to you, I’m good.” Serina looked at Clara with contempt.
Her eyes were full of hatred and resentment, as if there was a raging fire burning. Clara was frightened.
“That’s good.”
Clara stepped back and hid behind Sammy in fear.
“Serina….”
Serina cast a glance at Sammy and then walked straight towards her room.
“Let’s go, Clara. I’ll send you back. I’ll be on my way.”
Like a startled deer, Clara said, “Sammy, did you see the way Serina stared at me? It was as if she wanted to kill me. I’m so scared.”
Sammy said with a smile, “It’s fine. Perhaps she is just upset because your father scolded her. She is not angry at you.”
“However, Serina has been picking on me ever since she came back. She glared at me both at the dining table and in the corridor. I’m scared. Sammy, stay with me. I’m pregnant now, and I’m afraid that….”
“Serina is just like that. Although she is a little willful, she won’t harm you. Besides, you’re her younger sister. Don’t worry.”
Sammy comforted her.
“Sammy, I know that she won’t hurt me on purpose. But she has been hating my guts. What if she accidentally bumps into me?”
“Well…” Sammy was convinced as Serina had been acting recklessly from childhood until now. It was a part of everyday life for her to hurt herself.
“Stay with me,” Clara pleaded.
Sammy nodded, “Alright.”
In Serina’s bedroom, she lay on the bed and had sweat on her brow. Her back hurt so much that she was unable to move.
Given Serina had been mischievous since she was a kid, it wasn’t the first time Andrew had hit her. However, he had never beat her this hard as she was his only daughter.
Andrew was exceptionally furious today. Serina used to admit her mistake and shed tears before he slapped her.
But today, she gritted her teeth and remained silent, trying her best to hold back her tears.
Andrew kept asking her whether or not she admitted her mistake, whereas Serina was stubborn and insisted, “I’m not wrong.”
Thinking of this, Serina started to weep uncontrollably. She cried not because her back hurt but because she felt miserable.
She had been the apple of Andrew’s eye since she was little. How could he give her such a bitter beat?
As she cried, Serina fell asleep. And she didn’t hear her phone ring.
The next morning, Serina woke up early as her back was painful. She opened her eyes and felt that her eyes hurt. She gradually pulled herself up and got to the bathroom, looking into the mirror.
Serina was shocked.
Her eyes were so swollen that she could hardly keep them open. If Clara saw her, Clara would laugh at her!
Serina had come back to make things difficult for Clara and others. But in the end, she was beaten up, and her eyes were swollen. It turned out that she was the one who suffered.
She miscalculated!
No, she had to leave. Otherwise, Clara would mock at her!
But when she tried to open the door, she discovered that it was locked.
