“Conversation with our favorite ones are not just conversations, they are emotions. Sometimes silly, dramatic, sometimes emotional and deep, they are a package full of memories. They make our souls smile.”
……
Kathleen walked towards the Cafeteria to have her lunch. Her dance session for the day came to an end. After lunch, she had classes to attend. Her head was hurting like hell without proper sleep.
Kathleen was wondering how EJ understood her when she remained silent. She was consumed deeply in her own thoughts, while Robert popped in front of her out of nowhere.
“Hey, Barbie!! Wondering about me, right?”, asked Robert, with a grin.
“Jeez, you scared me!”, signed Kathleen.
“So, it’s been a long time since we had a proper conversation”, stated Robert.
“What’s there to talk?”, enquired Kathleen, arching her brow. She was still furious towards him about that Cafeteria incident.
“Come on, I’m sorry!! You can’t stay angry on me, for the incident that took place a week before”, claimed Robert.
“Fine, you are forgiven!”, announced Kathleen with a poker face. Robert grinned at her comment.
“You are a part of dance committee right?”, asked Robert, kathleen nodded.
“And how is it going?”, enquired Robert.
“Achuuuuuu! yes, great”, she sneezed.
“Barbie!! Are you sick?”, Robert gazed at her with concern.
“No, achuuuuu”, she sneezed again. Kathleen couldn’t stop sneezing.
“Here, have it!!”, Robert gave her a handkerchief as she didn’t have one of her own.
“Achuuuu, thanks”, she replied with a sneeze.
“Maybe, we should visit the clinic in the campus, you look terribly sick”, suggested Robert. Kathleen’s nose turned red and her headache was getting worse. But she rejected on going to the clinic.
“No, Robert!! I’ll be fine. It’s just a flu. I’ll be alright soon!! Achuuuuuu”, said Kathleen rubbing her nose.
“No, I’m not leaving you alone!! Let’s go to the clinic”, stated Robert.
“I’m fine!! I have classes to attend after lunch. See you! Achuuuuuu”, kathleen waved him bye and ran towards the Cafeteria.
After having lunch with Laura, she marched towards her classroom and attended classes for the evening.
…………………
She enters her room to find it empty. There was no trace of Laura or Janice. Laura’s bed was neatly made-up. The room was tidy and Kathleen guessed that Laura would have left a few minutes ago. She always liked keeping everything clean and tidy.
Kathleen looked at Janice’s bed. It was clean as well. She noticed new toys on her bed that she hasn’t seen before.
After few hours of sleep, she wakes up to find Laura and Janice doing their own stuff. Kathleen rubbed her blurry eyes and her headache turned out to be severe after the nap.
“Hey, are you alright ?? You look sick??”, questioned Laura.
“I’m fine. Achuuuuuuuu”, she sneezed.
“That doesn’t look fine!!”, said Janice, and walks towards Kathleen’s bed.
“I’m having rhinorrhea, which means runny nose!! I’ll be fine soon. Achuuuuuu”, replied Kathleen.
“Want me to get something from the clinic?”, questioned Janice, waiting for her to say something. But all she did was sneeze.
“No, Jay!! I don’t want to trouble you”, stated Kathleen, rubbing her nose with a tissue.
“Why is she so dramatic all of a sudden??”, Laura rolled her eyes.
“Isn’t she losing her mind due to sickness?”, teased Janice. Kathleen made a noise that sounded wooffff.
“Maybe people who gets sick while turn out to be dramatic like kath”, laughed Laura.
“No stupid!! I’m not having any trouble in getting you medicine. I’ll be back”, assured Janice and she left the room.
…………………
Janice gets some medication from the clinic and returned back to the girl’s dormitory. On her way back, she spotted Doris arguing with Gerald few meters away from her. Janice was losing her temper on seeing them together. She knew that Doris would never let him alone. Janice walked away from that place in anger.
Gerald witnessed Janice and ran towards her leaving Doris behind.
“Jay, what are you doing here??”, he asked her and glanced at the medications she was carrying.
“Are you sick?? Is everything alright?”, questioned Gerald, placing his hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
“I’m fine”, replied Janice and snapped his hand away.
“Then what are these for??”, enquired Gerald.
“Do I have to tell you everything? Because you don’t seem to be telling me everything that happens around you”, hissed Janice with a smirk and glaring at the direction that Doris was standing in.
“Oh, hey, that was nothing. Doris was just creating some mess”, replied Gerald.
“Great!! This is also nothing!”, announced Janice and walked away from him. That was their first fight. She felt bad for treating him like that. But he didn’t give her any kind of explanation or did anything to console her.
………………
Janice enters the room and could see Laura reading some book and Kathleen playing some sort of game in Laura’s phone.
“Take this after dinner!”, Janice gave her the medications.
“Now, what happened to you? Left the room with a happy smile but you return back with a poker face!”, questioned Laura, putting down her book.
“It’s Gerald. Saw him with Doris near the clinic!”, grunted Janice.
“Achuuuuuu!. Oh!! Why were they doing together?”, mumbled Kathleen.
“That’s a million dollar question”, signed Janice and took a book from her shelf and started to read it.
Kathleen dozed off again without having her dinner or her medicine.
…………………
Kathleen wakes up and the room was empty. She was confused on seeing the rays of sunshine falling over the window and she couldn’t understand what was happening to her. She felt like she slept for a eternity. Her headache was better, but she was tired for no reason and her runny nose hasn’t cured for good.
She finds the time to be 12 PM and it’s noon. She had dance session to attend for the day.
“WTF!! Janice and Laura let me to sleep till noon”, shouted Kathleen getting up from the bed, but she had no energy to walk further.
“I’ll kill them once they get back!!”, yelled Kathleen and got ready to attend the dance session.
After few minutes, she took a look at the mirror. She looked horrible with those swollen eyes, red runny nose and her pale lifeless face. She walked out of her room at a snail’s pace. She was feeling dizzy.
She reached the dance studio and finds it semi filled with students. Few were practicing individually and some were busy chatting. Kathleen sat at the chair that was used to place bags.
She felt weak, she didn’t have anything for breakfast or lunch as well. She drank up some water to keep her hydrated. EJ looked at her and found that she was sick. He walked towards her.
“You better rest for the day!! You are sick!!”, he suggested. Kathleen looked at him.
“No, I’m fine!! I can do it”, she said rubbing her nose with a tissue.
“I know it’s useless to say you something!! Because you do what you want to”, scowled EJ walking away.
“Why do you care!!”, yelled Kathleen, walking behind him to the practice area.
After few hours of continuous practice, the session comes to end. Everyone except Kathleen left the room. She couldn’t walk.
Kathleen was at the verge of fainting. She stumbled and was about to trip over but EJ caught her by holding her waist and shook her right arm.
“Hey, what’s up!!”, he asked looking at her pale face. Her eyes remained shut.
“God!! You are burning up!”, yelled EJ. He placed his hand in her forehead, she was having a high temperature.
“Hey, how can you practice with such a temperature”, he yelled at her. But she gave him no reply.
“Tell me your room number!! I’ll drop you by the dorm”, he suggested.
She wasn’t giving him any reply. She leans against his chest as she could no longer stand. He was surprised at her action but later found that she has fainted.
She lost consciousness, EJ lifts her up.
“This little fool”, he carried her to the chair.
“Wake up!! Wake up”, he shook her but still there was no response. She leaned against his shoulders and slept like a baby.
“Okay, I have to do this!! You left me no option”, he said carrying her out of the dance studio.
…………………
Kathleen wakes up and she couldn’t see clearly. Her blurry eyes watered up when she tried to open them. She rubs her eyes and looks around. It’s not her dormitory.
She was shocked and she froze on seeing the new place. The room was big, actually very big. The room was clean and things were arranged in a orderly way. There was a huge book shelf at the right corner of the room.
The lighting of the room confused her and made her wonder whether it’s a day or a night. She was lying in a large bed with a damp towel on her forehead. She takes it off and looks around to find where she was.
“Hey, sweetheart!! How do you feel now?”, enquired a angelic female voice, entering the room. She looked beautiful and very young.
Kathleen couldn’t understand what’s happening around her.
