Keerthi swung her legs in boredom as she rotated her head.
It had been sometime her husband had left for his meeting.
She lied down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She was tempted to go to the beach.
It was long since they had reached Mumbai and Vikram left for work.
Though she wanted to go to the beach , her husband left for work after a ,”Don’t go out alone. It’s not safe”, speech.
She wanted to beat him up.
He shushed her when she asked him to book separate flights for them, his to Mumbai and her’s to Delhi.
He had only said a “Shut up. I know what I am doing.”
She had only rolled her eyes then.
She made a call to her mother, updating her of her whereabouts and briefing about the places they visited.
Amritha Verma smiled as she spoke to get daughter. She seemed happy.
“I am so bored”, Keerthi stared at the wall in front of her,”I feel like I’m just in hotel rooms the last few days.”
Amritha laughed, shaking her head.”When are you returning?”
Keerthi shrugged, though her mother couldn’t see it,”No idea. Depends on Vikram. It’s anyway weekend tommorow. So I don’t have a problem.”
“Oh”, Amritha acknowledged,”How is Vikram?”
“He is good”, Keerthi chirped, swinging her legs on the bed,”He left for work like ten hours ago”, she rolled her eyes.
Amritha Verma smiled,”He must be busy.”
“Yeah. He is. That’s why I don’t really want to bug him too much. He seems troubled as it is.”
Her daughter’s statement made Amritha smile wider, she could clearly hear the fondness her daughter had for her husband, silently thanking God.
“I miss home food so much”, Keerthi said after some time.
“You are such a foodie.”
“I’m not. Though I like Italian, I like our cuisine better. I am craving some Chicken Biryani.”
Amritha snorted,”You and your demands.”
“I don’t even demand that much. And Vikram will probably pull his hair out in frustration if I ask him to take me out for dinner now.”
“Finally”, Keerthi muttered to herself when the door to their room twisted open.
“Finally what?”, Amritha frowned.
“Nothing. I think Vikram is here”, she glanced at her husband.
“Oh. Spend some time with him. We can talk later.”
“No”, Keerthi protested,”It’s alright. Vikram won’t mind.” She hadn’t spoken much to her mother the last few days.
She mouthed ‘Mom’ when her husband gave her a questioning look, smiling at her husband when he kissed her forehead.
She admired her husband’s back as he went to freshen up,”It’s not nice Keerthi”, Amritha scolded her daughter.
“He is not very stereotypical”, Keerthi argued,”It feels so long since I saw you.”
“You met me the day before you left”, Amritha pointed out dryly.
“That’s like around two weeks.”
“It’s not even that much time.”
“For me, it is.”
She snuggled into her husband’s chest as she spoke to her mother for some more time.
Vikram muffled his laughter, smirking at his wife when he heard a,”How does he put up with you?”, on the line.
Keerthi quirked an eyebrow at her husband,”Similar to you”, she said slyly, grinning at him.”And he doesn’t exactly put up with me. It’s the other way round”, she smirked at her husband, muffling a shriek when he pinched her waist.
“Feed Vikram something. He must be hungry.”
Vikram turned to his wife, munching on his protein bar.
“I don’t have to. He is already eating”, Keerthi laughed, slapping her husband’s chest when he tsked.
“Okay. Take care. Call me when you return home.”
“You don’t want me to call before that?”
“Bye. Don’t skip your meals”, Amritha Verma advised.
“Bye”, Keerthi mumbled, cutting the call.
“Meeting Okay?”, Keerthi turned to her husband, giving him a quick kiss in greeting.
“Yeah. Though we’ll know the complete ongoing tomorrow.”
“It’s a Saturday tomorrow”, Keerthi pointed out.
“So what?”, Vikram shrugged arrogantly.
“What kind of boss are you?”, Keerthi laughed.
Vikram raised a brow at his wife,”I like to think I’m Okay, until someone fucks it up.”
“Right”, Keerthi nodded.
“What did you do the entire day?”
Keerthi sighed dramatically,”You mean after you locked me in here?”, she teased.
Vikram gave his wife a look.
“Nothing much. I just chilled”, Keerthi shrugged.
“So you can chill tomorrow as well?”
“I’m doing some shopping if it’s the same case tomorrow”, Keerthi announced.
“You are not”, Vikram scrolled through his phone.
“You think you have a say?”
Vikram shrugged,”You’ve shopped a lot already. And you are not exactly a shopping person. You can’t shop for more than two hours. You start getting whiny, oh, and also hungry.”
Keerthi glared at her husband. How dare he be right?
“I could go to the beach then.”
Vikram shrugged,”Just don’t stay out too late.”
Keerthi stared at her husband. Psycho.
” You scolded me in the morning when I suggested the same thing.”
“I didn’t exactly scold you. And me saying anything is not going to stop you. Both of us know it”, Vikram looked at his wife, smirking when she gave him a sheepish look.
“How do you know it? But, I just went for a stroll.”
Vikram shook his head, sighing.
“I was honestly so bored. And it’s suffocating to be in the same room for the entire day, a hotel room especially.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“Why do you have that look on your face then?”
“What look?”, Vikram teased.
“The ‘This girl is impossible’ kind of look.”
Vikram laughed,”Am I wrong?”
Keerthi pouted, poking her husband’s chest.
“Just don’t stray too far. Be available. That’s all.”
She ginned at her husband, saluting,”Okay boss.”
Vikram rolled his eyes,”Did you have your dinner? I am hungry. I’ll order only for myself if you already ate.”
“What are you planning to order?”
“Prawns Biryani and starters”
Keerthi nodded her head grimly,”I am hungry then.”
Vikram laughed, shaking his head.
