Keerthi blinked her eyes open to find her husband smiling at her, making her lips curve upwards automatically.
“Good morning”, she whispered.
“Morning”, Vikram yawned, pulling his wife closer.
Keerthi flushed, shuffling towards her husband. She felt sleepy, it was too cozy and comfortable.
Vikram smiled, running a hand through his wife’s hair as she molded her form into his arms, fitting perfectly, as he held her tight, drawing lazy circles on her back.
Keerthi sighed after sometime, they had to get up, or they would be late. She looked up to find her husband staring into space, probably thinking something. She placed a hand on her husband’s chest, silently asking him to look at her.
Vikram gazed at his wife, tucking a strand of her behind her ear. She looked beautiful in her bed hair.
Keerthi didn’t expect her husband to kiss her when he dipped his head low, his warm lips moving against hers’ slowly, as though they had all the time in the world, their lips in perfect sync as they explored each other’s mouths.
She could hear the harsh palpitations of her heart when her husband pulled away, their foreheads resting against each other. The fluidity of the kiss made her too shy to look at her husband, as he roved his hand over her form, over her neck , shoulders, side of her breasts, waist, and then resting on her hip.
It was only her heartbeat came back to normal that she looked at him.”We should get up now.”
Vikram teased,”I am not stopping you.”
Keerthi flushed at her husband’s words, untangling herself from him , as she got up, only to be pulled onto her husband’s chest.
“Vikram!”
Vikram placed a hard kiss on Keerthi’s mouth, his hands in her hair, as he pulled her towards him. Keerthi balanced herself by placing her hands on her husband’s shoulders, as their lips moved urgently over the others’, their tongues meshing and colliding with the other.
Keerthi breathed heavily, her chest heaving rapidly. What a kiss it had been, her lips throbbed.
**
Keerthi typed at her keyboard , the events of the previous night and this morning flashing before her eyes. Her husband was one of a kind. The mere thought of him brought a smile to her face, she just liked him so much, she grinned to herself.
A part of her was anxious though. What if she couldn’t fulfill her husband’s needs? She knew how girls shopped before their first nights? Did.. Did Vikram expect something like that too, from her?
She wanted to do something. No wife wanted to displease their husband in that aspect. Though the idea made Keerthi uncomfortable, she didn’t know if she should do anything. She wore plain clothes and comfortable inners usually, not the type to seduce a man. But she wanted to look beautiful for him. She wanted him to find her sexy when they were under the sheets. It was getting hard though, Keerthi didn’t have the guts to carry lingerie elegantly. She never tried.
Keerthi quickly placed her phone down, her face heating up.
She didn’t know there were so many types of women’s nightwear and lingerie. There was no way she could even try any, her cheeks flaming at the thought of Vikram seeing her in anything like that.
She tuned her thoughts out. If Vikram wanted to make love, he just had to adjust with her plain black bra and panty with her usual pajamas, Keerthi decided , as she got back to work.
As Vikram scrolled through his laptop, he wondered if he should just book a honeymoon suite. He rubbed his chin. He could just take her out to dinner and then to the hotel suite and leave later in the morning. Yes. That would work.
He didn’t find the idea of having sex with his wife for the first time at home appealing.
Keerthi’s heart pounded as she read her husband’s message.
Let’s go out for dinner tonight. Pack clothes for tomorrow morning.
He might have as well screamed the word to her. It was so blatantly obvious.
Keerthi couldn’t concentrate on her work after the text. Letting it happen in the heat of the moment was one thing, planning was another.
She went home after some time, her thoughts not letting her work peacefully as images of what might happen tonight turned her head mush.
Anxiety was making her palms sweat as Keerthi made way to her room. She hoped Vikram wasn’t there already.
Keerthi sighed a breath of relief when she found the room void of her husband. She took a quick shower, after shaving the necessary areas.
Keerthi dressed in a green sundress, tight till the waist and flowed freely downwards, resting just above her knee.
There was sweet anticipation in every breath she took as she got ready. Making love or not, she looked forward to spend time with her husband.
Keerthi looked at the time when she was ready. It was ten minutes to seven. Vikram would be here any moment now. She took a deep breath, calming herself.
She scrolled through Instagram feeds to keep herself occupied. She had already informed of her mother in law of their plans.
She strolled around the room, bored when it was almost an hour of waiting.
Keerthi sat in the balcony, letting cool breeze tickle her hair as she swayed on the swing. She was getting restless when the clock struck eight forty five.
She picked her phone, twirling it in her hand as she debating calling Vikram. She let it be though. Maybe he was on the way.
Keerthi went outside, bored of being cooped up in her room when she saw her mother in law.
Sakshi was surprised to see her daughter in law still home. Hadn’t they left?
“You still didn’t leave?”, Sakshi asked.
“Vikram’s not home yet.”
“Okay”, Sakshi smiled, walking past Keerthi.
When it was nearing ten, Keerthi wondered if Vikram stood her up.
She jumped when her mobile vibrated in her lap.
Busy day. Let’s do dinner some other time.
Keerthi’s face fell at her husband’s message.
She felt like crying, all her excitement and anxiety going down the drain.
Sakshi was surprised to see the lights in her son’s room switched on when she went to shut the doors, to go to bed. She scolded her son in her head for being so irresponsible and wasting electricity.
However, she was surprised to find her daughter in law sitting on the couch, having changed into her pajamas.
“Is Vikram not home yet?”
“Um. No Mom”, Keerthi was startled, as she stood up. She didn’t hear her mother in law come.
“Did you have dinner”, Sakshi asked though she guessed Keerthi didn’t.
“I am not hungry”, Keerthi said.
“Keerthi”, Sakshi scolded, just like she would scold Vikram and Vihan,”It’s not healthy to skip meals.”
“Really”, Keerthi forced a smile, kicking herself for not lying that she ate.
“Come on. I’ll serve you something”, Sakshi gave Keerthi a pointed look, making sure she followed.
Keerthi trailed behind her mother in law reluctantly. She didn’t really feel like eating though she was hungry.
She forced a few spoons down her throat though. Her mother in law seemed determined to make her eat. It was only when she had minimum food that Sakshi let her go back to her room.
Keerthi lay on her side of the bed. Though she was tired, sleep was far off.
She didn’t like having so many expectations on Vikram. Expectations hurt. Always.
She was upset though, that Vikram ditched her last moment.
Keerthi sighed, forcing herself to keep her mind blank. She didn’t want to think so much. She just stared at the wall in front of her.
Vikram slowly opened the door to his room, to find his wife in bed. He threw his laptop bag on the couch, eyeing a dress on it. He felt bad.
But Vikram couldn’t do anything. He had sudden meetings back to back. He was too busy, the date slipping out of his mind. It was only when he had dinner that he remembered about their plans, when he typed his wife a text. He felt Sorry to stand her up like that, but he couldn’t help it. He even had to cancel the suite he had booked. It was inevitable. Some days, he just couldn’t make time.
He made his way to bed after he changed, discovering his wife was awake. By now , he could tell from her body language if she was asleep or not. He wondered if he should talk to her now. His gut told him it was a bad idea, they’re just going to fight.
He would explain his situation tomorrow.
It was late, and he was tired. He wasn’t in a mood to have an argument. Vikram wanted to hold his wife though.
Keerthi stiffened when she felt Vikram pull her towards him, nuzzling his nose in the crook of her neck, as he placed a kiss on it.
Though she was upset with Vikram, she liked having his arms around her. She shifted closer, hiding her face further into her husband’s neck. Vikram was surprised at his wife’s action. He was almost sure she would pull away.
He pushed his luck, kissing the area in his vicinity, below her collar bone, his stubble grazing the area above her breast, as he skimmed his lips on it.
“I was very busy the entire day. Barely had any time. There were back to back meetings”, Vikram explained.
Keerthi shifted her head a little back, so she could see her husband.
“It’s fine”, she nodded.
“I am Sorry we couldn’t go out today”, Vikram apologized sincerely, wishing for his wife to accept his apology and not throw a tantrum. He couldn’t deal with it now.
“It’s alright”, Keerthi smiled at her husband, her heart suddenly feeling at peace. She liked that he made an effort to talk to her and apologize instead of letting her be.
“Really?”, Vikram was surprised.
“It’s Okay”, Keerthi shrugged a shoulder gently.
Vikram gave his wife a small smile, pressing his lips to hers’ for a moment.
They parted after a few seconds, smiles on their faces. Vikram yawned, rubbing his eyes, after some time.
“Goodnight”, Keerthi wished, tucking her head under her husband’s chin, as she placed a kiss on his chest.
Vikram smiled, squeezing his wife in his arms as he closed his eyes.
