Chapter 30

Book:The Love In Marriage Published:2024-5-1

It was just after five when the couple reached home. Keerthi jumped into the shower immediately. She felt the soothing water wash over her as she hummed to herself.
She felt good spending time with her husband, despite minor disagreements.
They had spent some time with the family after dinner, before retiring to their room, calling it a night.
Keerthi gazed at her shorts longingly. Though she was desperate to wear them, she didn’t want Vikram to feel she was trying anything. She wasn’t. It was just too hot.
She felt like wearing shorts now was like a huge green signal banner. Though she was fine with it now, she didn’t want Vikram to think she was seducing him.
Keerthi snorted, Seduce him in shorts?
She switched to her normal pajamas, which covered her head to too. She was nervous.
Tonight could be the night. She knew her husband wanted it. And now that she felt neutral about it, she knew it would happen if she didn’t object to his advances.
That’s the reason she wore her most conservative night wear. She didn’t want to seem like she was trying something.
If Vikram wanted to try anything because he wanted to, well, she could deal with it.
Keerthi’s stomach churned in anticipation. She knew she was just assuming things.
There was a probability they won’t make love today either. But they were so into it in the morning. It was foolish to disregard the idea.
She didn’t know if she was ready. But she also knew, there was never a perfect time to be ready. Previous times, she knew she didn’t want it. But now, she only felt neutral. She was fine either way , even if it happened or it didn’t.
Vikram was on the couch, shuffling through a random magazine when he saw his wife fussing with her hair, tying it in a ponytail, as his eyes ran over her.
She was wearing a loose night dress, a green striped top, the sleeves extending to her wrists , the him resting inches below her ass and a black pant. He was disappointed the pant wasn’t tight fit either. But then, she usually didn’t wear tight clothes to bed.
She wore baggier clothes than usual though. Was his wife sending him a message?, Vikram wondered.
It was possible, since they had gotten a little closer in the morning. So he decided to wait for his wife this time, to take the lead, give him some hint. If she was uncomfortable with affection, he couldn’t do anything except wait.
Keerthi felt sleepy. Why didn’t her husband come to bed already. She wanted to cuddle.
She was tired, if her husband had plans for her, he had to make it quick.
“Aren’t you coming to bed?”, Vikram heard his wife.
She was standing at an arm’s grasp Vikram wanted to pull his wife into his lap and kiss her.
Vikram cleared his throat,”Yeah. Coming.”
When Vikram didn’t get up from his position, Keerthi shrugged, getting under the covers.
Vikram went into the washroom to jerk off.
He didn’t know if they would fuck today. And he didn’t want to sleep with blue balls everyday. It was becoming a pain.
Keerthi yawned as she waited for her husband, her eyelids drooping, fighting a losing battle with sleep.
Why didn’t her husband come out already?
Vikram was surprised to find his wife asleep when he came out, thinning his lips in disappointment.
He was glad he had jerked off.
He wanted to bang her already, though. Imagining her naked body under his wasn’t enough anymore. He hoped his wife caught up with him soon.
He got under the covers softly, pulling his wife towards him, staring at her face, settling on her lips.
He didn’t even kiss her ‘Goodnight’.
Keerthi was at the brink of sleep when she shifted, cuddling closer to her husband as she settled her head on his shoulder and her hand on his chest.
Vikram was tempted to kiss his wife.
Dammit. Why did she have to go to sleep?
He sighed, smothering her face against his chest as he kissed her hair. “Goodnight”, he murmured.
“Goodnight”, Keerthi mumbled in a sleepy haze. She wasn’t completely asleep, but she wasn’t awake either. She was floating at the margin.
The last thing Keerthi remembered before she slipped unconscious was the slight discontent she felt that nothing happened, after all.
**
Keerthi frowned when she woke up, confused when she didn’t find her husband. He was neither in bed nor the bath. She was puzzled. He had gone downstairs already? It was just after seven thirty.
She groggily walked to the washroom when her eyes fell on a sticky note on the mirror.
Left to office. 8’o clock meeting.
xx.
Keerthi glanced at the message, lips thinning in disapproval. He could have woken her up, though she blushed, her eyes lingering on the xx.
She got ready, wondering if Vikram had his breakfast as she had hers.
She typed him a quick message, blushing at the last letter of her text.
Good morning. Breakfast?
x.
Keerthi sulked as she drove to her workplace. She didn’t get her ‘Bye’ kiss.
Keerthi was busy with her work when she glanced at her phone.
She pouted to herself. Vikram hadn’t texted back.
Vikram smiled at his wife’s text, checking his mobile after his meeting, feeling nice, as he typed a brief message.
It was after eleven when Keerthi heard her phone ping.
Morning. Done.
Keerthi shook her head at her husband’s text, smiling. He was even more to the point than her.
Vikram was engrossed in his work when he heard a knock on his door.
“Come in”, He ordered.
“Sir, there’s a parcel for you”, Vikram’s PA informed.
Vikram frowned.”What is it?”
“No idea Sir”, Priya, Vikram’s PA stated.
“Fine. Just leave it on the couch.”
Vikram walked to his couch, confused, confusion turning into something when he realized it was the negligee he got for his wife.
He placed it in his laptop bag, getting on with his work.
Keerthi deliberated calling her husband. It was after eight in the evening. He was usually home by seven, at the latest.
She jolted in place when her mobile rang.
“Hi”, Keerthi answered.
“Hi”, Vikram greeted,”I’ll be a bit late.”
“Oh. What time?”
“Depends.”
“What about dinner?”
“I’ll have something here.”
“Oh”, Keerthi said dumbly.
“Yeah. Bye”, Vikram cut the call, intimating the same to his mother.
Keerthi had a quiet dinner. She missed her husband a little too much, having spent the almost entire day together the previous day.
