Elisa frowned and soon understood what was going on.
The minor was probably pregnant, and the parents wanted the child to have surgery. But the child didn’t want to.
“What about the director of their department and other doctors?”
“They haven’t come yet, so Dr. Saline is there to deal with it. Dr. Saline has no choice. But I thought it would be convenient if I came directly to you with this case.”
Elisa quickly entered the office, put down her bag and quickly changed her white coat. “Let’s go, is this case still en route?”
“Hmm.”
**
The two ladies went downstairs from the safe passage, and before they reached the floor where the obstetrics and gynecology department was located, they heard violent screams and rattles.
Annie swallowed saliva and looked at Elisa White with a little worry.
Elisa walked out of the safe passage expressionless, turning a blind eye to the chaotic corridor, and said coldly, “What is this for? If you want to fight, please change the venue and where it can’t affect other patients.”
Ellen Saline suddenly breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Elisa. She said softly to the patient, “Please be calm, please go back to your beds to rest.”
The patients gathered in the corridor were helped back to their wards by nurses.
Elisa White walked to a red-faced middle-aged couple. “Please come into the office and talk, don’t influence others in the corridor.”
“What else can you doctors do except say something nice?” The woman shouted discontentedly.
“There are many things that can be done. However, your current identity is the patient’s family. We are doctors. We don’t discuss matters to anyone unless it’s from an immediate family of the patient. We respect the discreet, and secrecy of cases we have in this place. But first, let’s solve the current things first.”
The husband and wife looked at Elisa White with a calm and fearless face, they nodded slowly, and followed her into Ellen’s office.
Elisa naturally sat down at Ellen’s desk. “I have just listened to my assistant, and now I want to hear your demands. After listening, our hospital will discuss with you more effective ways to deal with the patient and as well as you, the parents.”
The man spat on the ground. “Bah! I don’t trust you!”
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t trust. If you can’t trust it, you can go through the discharge formalities and find a hospital that you trust more. This way is also feasible. It is inappropriate for you to make such a fuss. I don’t need to explain this.”
The man was severely stunned by Elisa White’s words.
The woman thought Elisa was not as complacent as Ellen, she was unconsciously putting on a soft voice, and saw Elisa’s chest plate, “Dr. Elisa, we didn’t mean to transfer, we put our trust in Westmead Hospital. My husband and I are just anxious for our daughter. Our daughter is only 14 years old and attends key classes in key high schools, but suddenly she got pregnant, which is a slap in the face to us and our child. The hospital has been slow in coming up with a solution. We are in a hurry, and our emotions are a little irritable and vulnerable. We absolutely don’t mean to embarrass you.”
“I understand what you’re feeling. There are rules and regulations here in the hospital, and it is definitely not deliberate delay. I am not an authority on obstetrics and gynecology, but I can tell you briefly about the operation process of the hospital. Generally speaking, we will be very cautious when minors do abortion. Mainly manifested in three aspects, one is worried about ectopic pregnancy, the other is massive bleeding, and the third is the patient’s usual health.”
Elisa White saw that the husband and wife were listening to her carefully, and continued, “You think we deliberately delayed the operation time and wanted you to stay in the hospital for a few more days. This got it all wrong. This afternoon’s examination is a routine, and the chance of accidents during the operation is observed as much as possible. If you can provide your daughter’s usual medical report, we can omit the third aspect as appropriate and try to operate on her tomorrow morning. Do you understand where we are coming from? ”
“Now we do understand, thank you, doctor.”
“Next, let Dr. Saline communicates with you about the pre-operation matters.”
“Good.”
Elisa White looked at Ellen, and Ellen Saline nodded.
Elisa left with Annie.
Annie blinked a few times. “Sister Elisa, aren’t you afraid of the two couples beating you?”
“Well. If they do, I’ll fight back as well. I won’t beat around the bush. I shouldn’t be afraid of what?”
“That’s true.”
Elisa White paused and said, “To take an active position in the doctor-patient relationship, it must be in advance without any mistakes in our work. This requires excellent professionalism and excellent professional skills, which you should remember.”
“I remember.”
“But we must remain vigilant. The media are on our tails if we make one wrong move, the families and patients have lost their basic judgment and being logical because of what comes to them, so it’s possible for them to be erratic. Though it may be possible to get injured or get mulled at this line of work. But remember we need to be above them and understanding at all times.”
Annie nodded.
Elisa would rarely talk to her seriously, but once she was serious, she was really advising her.
She didn’t have Elisa’s skill and aura. If she met with patients or family members who wanted to hurt her, she couldn’t handle it well.
**
On a busy morning, Elisa called Ellen Saline when she got off work and asked her to eat in the canteen of the hospital.
When they arrived at the canteen, Annie had already ordered for them.
Saline Ellen’s eyes were red, and she obviously just cried.
After taking the tray of rice, she couldn’t eat it.
Annie took her tray and went to find the nurses.
Elisa ate two meals and couldn’t help but say, “You, there is this placard written all over your face that says, ‘I am so kind, come and bully me!’ No wonder you are bullied all day.”
Ellen Saline was smoked by her words. “Really?”
“White lies. I don’t know how you understand the position of doctor. My understanding is that within the scope of my job description, I must do it well, so that people can’t find any mistakes. Outside the technicality level, whoever dares to bully me, I will swing my arms and pull it back! Especially in the face of patients and their families, our attitude must be tough.”
Dr. Saline nodded, the sound of defeat, she replied. “Elisa, we are different. You are settled here in the hospital. That even if you resigned now, you still have the support of your family and William, it won’t make a difference. Me on the other hand, is not from Australia so whenever I’ll lose my job, my family will call me out, and disown me!”
Elisa put up a sentence, “Even if you are resigned, I can help.” Then she swallowed some rice.
It was always easier to persuade Ellen. She and Ellen have different personalities and family circumstances, and look at things from different perspectives.
However, she really didn’t feel how difficult it was to deal with several patients’ families occasionally. Ellen was too sensitive.
Everyone and everything was strange there.
The more careful you did not want something to happen, the more likely that it would happen.
