I stared at the person I never thought I’d meet. I stared at her hour glass figure and elegantly dressed fashion and then looked at my dark blue sweatshirt and white shorts. I instantly felt insecure. I couldn’t even blame Bryan for falling for her. She was drop dead gorgeous.
I blinked a few times, hoping she would disappear. But she didn’t in fact she was coming straight at me.
A cherry topping to my already bad day. Awesome.
I debated with my inner self on whether I should just turn away and walk off, acting like I never saw her or stand there and hear her heart wrenching words. Something inside me stopped me from moving, my legs didn’t seem to cooperate at all.
“Joanna.” Her voice was surprisingly soft but the snide smile on her face screamed fake.
“Anastasia.” I greeted back with the same fake smile.
“I thought I would never get a chance to meet you.”
“Oh?” I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I thought and hoped it too. Why was she being polite and nice?
“How is Bryan?” She asked, some creepy emotion swimming in her eyes, it strongly resembled triumph.
My fingers gripped Janice’s bag so my palm wouldn’t just come in contact with her cheek bones. “Great.”
She smirked. “Has he told you about me?”
I nodded my head, grinning scornfully. “He told about how you cheated on him with Sean and what a bitch move that was.”
Her face clenched at the name of Sean. “I never liked Sean.” Her eyes narrowed. “Did Bryan say the bitch part?”
I shrugged, giving a twisted smile. “I am sure he meant it.”
She growled lowly. “I am sure he didn’t.” She then pretended to look at her nails innocently, they were painted in red and had delicate white design on it. It reminded me about my now half broken nails. “Has he met you in the past two days?”
My heart froze for a second. She knew something I didn’t, I could feel it. “No.”
She smirked, her eyes staring right into mine with viciousness and victory. “He was with me.”
Don’t kill her. Don’t kill him. Don’t kill them. Let the sharks do the good deed. “Wow.”
She scowled at my neutral response. “Do you love him?” She asked blatantly.
I bit my lip. Who the fuck she thinks she is to ask that? And why the fuck would I answer her? “I may.”
Her lips twisted into a frown. “You may? I am sure about my feelings.”
My hold on the bag tightened even more, hoping the handle didn’t break. The ‘am’ part didn’t go ignored. “Yes, precisely why you cheated on him. Nice way of showing your love.”
Her eyes blackened further at my taunt but she bit her lip from snapping. “Does he love you?”
I paused, my heart beating unhealthily fast. “He never told.”
Her lips spread upwards over her powdered face. “He told me.”
“Great.”
“He told me so many times.” She smiled fondly at the memory.
Now it doesn’t take much to make me pissed but when I do try to control, I actually try. This female, Anastasia whatever-the-f-her-surname-is seemed to bring out the worst in me. She makes me think deadlier plans than Jack the Ripper would have ever come up with.
“Yes he may have but you were the past. P-A-S-T. Previous Asset Successfully Thrown. And I am the present and the future. So I don’t care how many girls he banged or said lovely things to. What matters is that he is with me now and you lost your chance when you kissed Sean and most probably fucked him too, I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. And he will tell me he loves me but you on the other hand he won’t ever tell that to you again because I’ll repeat, you are his PAST.”
I turned to go ignoring her shocked face but then turned back. “And as for your previous question, yes, I do love Bryan and you cannot do anything about it. So move your nose out of my business or I will stick it into your fat ass.”
From the corner of my eye I saw Janice grinning and walking to the exit after jumping up and down, literally. I flicked my hair and started walked behind her leaving the dazed Anastasia behind. Let her rot in hell for all I care.
Just as I went, I heard Anastasia say. “Don’t break his heart. I will be around to make him mine.”
I fisted my hands, ignoring the urge to turn back and kick her to Jupiter. “I doubt he goes for sloppy seconds.”
“Was that your boyfriend’s ex?” Janice demanded the second I stepped out.
“Unfortunately.” I answered solemnly.
“She’s beautiful.”
I gave her my best glare. “Well go talk to her then.”
She put up her hands in defense. “She’s beautiful but nothing compared to you.”
I rolled my eyes. “I am in no mood for flattery Janice.”
She sighed. “Don’t let her affect you Joanna, you are too strong for that.”
I pressed my fingers to my forehead, massaging it. I could already feel a headache coming. “I know it’s just that -” I stopped not knowing what to say. Why was I so pissed off? Maybe because she really was too beautiful to be forgotten. Or maybe because I was afraid Bryan would go back to her. Or maybe because he still hadn’t expressed his feelings for me or told me the three words, admitted it was too early for that.
“You’re scared because he didn’t tell he loves you yet.” Janice said, reading my thoughts. “And it’s not his mistake, he has been hurt by a lot of females, he’s now afraid that you’ll hurt him too. He just needs time.”
I pressed my lips together. “Yeah, you’re right.”
Just then that bitch passed us and Janice promptly turned to her and raised her voice. “I thought animals weren’t allowed here, what’s this bitch doing inside?”
I let out a loud laugh, slapping my hands with Janice’s.
“Oh I just thought they were allowed since I saw you two.” She gave us a cold smirk held with unspoken promises, actually scaring me a little and then walked off without giving us a chance to reply. I breathed out in frustration.
Why did Bryan have to fall for her? Because he’s a brainless mutt.
^^
“So I met your ex-girlfriend who by the way is a certified bitch.”
Ace spat out the coffee he was drinking. “An-Anastasia?”
I raised an eyebrow. “How many exes do you have?”
He gulped. “Only one, her.”
“Exactly.” I snapped, looking back at my phone. We were in my room, he was watching some football game while drinking coffee and I was just going through the comments on the book I had written online, still fuming with rage.
“Did she say anything?” He hesitantly.
“Um other than the fact that she loves you tremendously and still wants you back and that you were with her for two days? Nah… Nothing.”
“Uh yeah, we had met.” He coughed out.
I closed my phone and stared at him blankly. “You didn’t reply or contact me for three days. Three. From that two days you were with your ex. Doing god alone knows what? And then the remaining one day maybe you needed space to think about her boobs and legs or something like that. Which is fine, absolutely fine but what I don’t understand is, I gave you almost one hour to confess that you were with Anastasia, instead you sat here watching guys in boxers kick balls. Why would you do that unless you didn’t want to tell me? And on top -”
“Joanna.”
I paused and looked at his stressed and guilty face. “What?”
“I was the one who called her.”
I froze and then my lips turned into a scowl and my eyes narrowed. “For what? Playing Monopoly?”
His fingers went through his hair in dismay. “No! Why would I play Monopoly with her?”
“What the hell do I know? Apparently naked Monopoly is in demand now.”
He sighed. “No we were never naked nor were we playing Monopoly. It was about the gang, a few are still out and we needed to put them behind the bars before they kidnap you.”
My mouth formed and ‘o’ as realization sunk in. But why would Anastasia help me? She would rather kidnap me herself, wrap me up like a Christmas present, sent it to the kidnappers and even help them hide my body. But I kept my thoughts wisely to myself.
“So did you two find them?” I asked giving him a sweet smile.
He shook his head. “Only three we could trace, five are still in open. But the search is going on and these five aren’t really dangerous. So there’s no hurry.”
“You should have told me.” I scolded, turning back to my phone. Still a little pissed on him and his previous choice of girlfriend. Well, at least he upgraded!
“Are you angry on me?” He asked, coming closer to me.
I shrugged in response. He peeked through my shoulder to see what I was doing.
“Is that the book app which you’re extremely addicted to?”
I nodded my head.
“What’s the name?”
“Don’t want to tell.”
“Ugh. Fine. Can you read 50 Shades of Grey on it?” He asked, looking intently as I surfed through the What’s Hot list.
“No, these books are written by aspiring writers, a few good ones are published.” I answered.
“Oh so do you write and publish here?”
My thumb froze on top of a book as I thought about the answer. “No.” I lied. My self-consciousness made me shy from telling friends about it. Only Janice knew about my writing abilities and that I posted on the app. The worst part? She wasn’t a huge fan of reading romance books unless they had some astrology in it. Talk about great support!
“Well you should. You’ll be a good writer.” He said, snapping me out of the daze.
I turned to look at his face which was surprisingly close to mine. “You think?”
He smiled, showing half of his perfect white teeth. “I know.”
I smiled back, my inner self debating if I should tell him or no but I wasn’t ready to share my books with the people I knew yet. I was content writing for unknown friends.
He leaned towards me and lightly gazed my lips. “Don’t think too much it makes a simple life complicated and our lives are complicated anyways.” My giggle was lost when his lips pressed into mine, consuming them with a frenzied voracity. I eagerly returned back the favour, realizing that I had missed them . . . a lot.
His hands dug into my hips and I felt my phone fall on the bed as I shifted to straddle him, my hands wrapping around his neck, pulling his face closer to mine. Our lips molded perfectly and lips fought for dominance, previous thoughts of Anastasia flying out of my head.
I bet we both suffered from Basorexia- the overwhelming desire to kiss.
I didn’t realize when his hand went inside my top until his thumb brushed along my navel, creating ripples all over my body. I felt my body bow down to him as his lips assaulted mine and his fingers roamed around my stomach and hips producing unknown emotions in my blood and head.
Our lips separated for a well required breath but his lips latched on to my neck, kissing and biting with a wildness I had never known. An involuntary moan left my lips when his lips bit right under my ear. Liking the response he lightly bit again, grinning as another strangled moan left my lips.
“Why me always?”
We shot back from each other, making a pillow fall on the ground.
“Fuck off Max!” Ace shouted, throwing a pillow but Max quickly shut the door before it could hit him. His evil laughter coming clearly through the closed windows.
“Tell them to use Vanilla flavour. Joanna loves it.”
“Fuck off Logan.” This time it was me who shouted.
