“Are you sure you don’t want to eat or drink anything even?” he asked me like a true gentleman that he is.
“I’m not hungry. Let’s get down to the business, shall we?” I replied to hum in an all business tone which shocked him but he looked at me with a surprised smirk on his face .
He raised his brow, and nodded his head and said, “OK.”
“I asked my lawyer to prepare the contract. You can take a look at it. You can also study about the contract. And then we can go to the notary to finish the business.” He said in a tone that matched mine. He looked at me all the time. As if he will understand my reasoning just by looking at my face.
His scrutinizing gaze was getting really hard to bear.
“Notary, what notary? Why do I have to go to notary?” I asked absently, as I have not gotten married before.
“How can there be a contract without a notary?” He asked me a as if I should already know the answer to it. I looked at him with a blank expression. I really did not know any thing about this shit. I am really getting my self unto a big mess here.
“OK,” sure I said exasperatedly.
“Look over here the most important point is the payment. For obvious reasons. This right here is your advanced payment and this will be a salary after the work is done. And this is the amount you will receive after six months. Over here is the total sum of money I’ll be giving you.” He told showing all the place the about was written. Just then his scent of his perfume got me with full force. And, I nearly fainted. It was a little spicy and manly.
“Excellent, that’s good for me. Anything else that You would like to add?” I told him complete ly distracted by his perfume but I did not let it show through.
“We will get divorced once my business is settled and you cannot ask anything after we are divorced. But we have to draw up a another agreement for that. It will be another separate agreement. ” he informed me.
“OK, sure” I said. So far the agreement has been good.
“And one more thing Eva. You can’t tell anyone that this is a fake marriage. Not even to the closest person in your life.” He told to me sternly. So, now this will just our dirty little secret.
“Anyone?” I questioned. “What about those whom I trust?” still trying my luck as to not feel like a complete whore.
“Nobody.”
That one word was enough to shut me up. So, I just pouted like a child that I am.
“OK, as you say. I said grumpily.
“Do you agree to it then?” Sean asked me again looking into my eyes. Why does he shares right at me? It is so great shortening. I have trouble breathing when does these things with his eyes.
“Agreed,” I replied with a confident voice shutting up my in ward turmoil completely.
“Excellent.” He nodded at me.
He took out the pen and said. “Come on, let’s sign the contract then.”
“I agreed to signing the contract, but I have a few requirements as well.” I told him.
He looked at me with a shocked expression as if he was surprised that I have a few requirements. But, then he swallowed and nodded for me to proceed.
“But then he said. OK, what are they?” he urged me.
“You won’t ever touch me. I don’t want to feel like a. I am broker or some kind of a prostitute for taking this money. We won’t ever sleep in the same bed.” I said to him. This was important as I did not want to feel like a trash or a prostitute for that matter.
“OK, well of course. As you wish Ava.” But his under lying disappointed tone was not missed by me.
“If you want I can get it written in the contract. And then we can sign it.” he quizzed me.
“No, it’s OK. That’s not worth it that time. We both know about it and it’s fine. It is enough for us to know.” I replied my lips thinning in due to the bile rising up my throat.
“OK. Then,” he turned around and took an envelope. Out from his vest. And handed it to me. I did not take it from his hand. And he looked at me ruefully.
“Please yeah is your advance payment. You can also ask for anything else. If you need when you are married.” He said to me as if that explains everything.
“Not now after we go to the notary & up the contract, I can take it.” I told him. It feels no, right to take money from him right now.
“OK, then we should go to the notary and finish this matter.” He told me. I wondered why so early.
“OK, let’s go the notary and end this matter.” I agreed regardless of the disrupted emotions in me.
We bought caught up and started to leave, but I remembered something so I asked him.
“I have a question for you.”
“Yeah, shoot. What is it?” he replied playfully? J really like this Sean he is not overly serious.
“Why do you trust me?” I questioned him not so playfully.
He looked at me for a while minute and again his eyes were pulling me in his direction, so I stood in front of him so close that I can feel his breath fanning my face.
“Why do you trust me? I can ask you the same question after. After all, you’re getting married to me.” He replied by not quite answering my question. Hmm…. Interesting. He is being vague about it. Does he even trust me?
“It’s not the same thing you’re letting me in your family. What if I’m trapping you into this marriage?” I asked him doubtful expecting a distraught reaction. But, I did not get any.
He looked at me with a surprised expression. But then it changed into a smirk and then a full fledged smile which was so beautiful that my whole world tilted onto ash access. His smile was war ending. I never realized that he does not smile very often but, I sure as tell would not forget his smile this time. Then he shook his head and smiled at me and said.
“I know what it’s like to be trapped into a marriage and you are a good person Eva. You will never do that to me. All my family for that matter. You are trying to help stray animals and orphan children in your free time and if you have money. You could have taken this advanced payment I was giving you and left without saying a word and ran away with the payment. But you instead said that you will take it after you sign up the contract at the notary. That is enough for me to know a person’s character. And I know for a fact that you are a good person even.” He said to me explaining the reasons and I was impressed by his reasoning skills.
” Oh,” I blushed and looked down at my feet. “That’s great,” I mumbled. I am not very comfortable when some one actually praises me truth fully.
“You definitely cannot be tracked with a smart head like yours.” I said complimenting him. I smiled at him and bit my lip. And, for a second I noticed how he started at my lips. My lips parted in a so unless gasp.
“Is that how you say it?” He asked me pulling him self out of the trance we had going when ever we were around each other.
I just shrugged to him in an agreement to that statement.
“Come on, let’s go to the notary before it is closed and the matters will be settled. Though I want to inform you, it might take time and will be all out at the night. They can also discuss other details on our way.” He told me and led me out.
“By the way, I think I have a shocker for you.” He said on our way out of the lobby of this big hotel which I would never have visited if it weren’t for Sean.
“What is it shoot me,” I asked him with excitement.
“The wedding is tomorrow.” He announced. And I felt any head spinning around as if I didn’t hear him correctly.
“What tomorrow?” I exclaimed with my eyes wise in my face.
