Ava is sitting in my office. I can not believe that she is ready to be my wife. Yes, I am going to pay her for that. But, I can not help but think what mad ever change her mind. I was very shocked because of the deal. But, I pulled my self out of the trance and focused on the lady in front of me. I do not have any problem in making a deal with her.
“Ava.” I called her out with so much determination that I saw her flabbergasted look just as I took her name out of my lips. Does she like that I took her name. This is certainly not the first time i said her name, but every time seems like it is the first time. Her name is very unique just like the lady in front of me.
“Listen to me.” I said to her in an all business tone. She nodded at my voice like a good girl taaht she is. And, now this good girl will be mine.
” If we make a deal together, I have one request for you.” I told her and she waited patiently for me to go on and looked at me, intensely I think she is thinking what i could ask of her. She is definitely not sure about this deal. But, I will give her any assurance that she needs.
“You will not question anything about this. Or why am I doing what I am doing? The reasons the results everything concerns only and only me.” i said to her, sternly. She should have no problem agreeing with this as if the things she was thinking was much worse than. The actual condition.
“That is completely fine with me,” she says with a nod of her head. Looking straight into her eyes. All of this feels very professional to our previous meetings, but it is what it is, right. This is the right thing to do to move on like professionals. Not get stuck on each other feeling like. Children. I want to be more to her. More of everything to her.
“But I request that you don’t ask as well as to why I accepted your offer.” She said to me with a raised brow. And with an expected cooperation in this as well. She knew i was going to accept it, but she still raised her brow In challenge. Always the rebel she is. I wanted to know why she took her this offer. But, if she doesn’t want to say anything about it it’s fine to me. Maybe I will pry about it later.
“So how long is a marriage going to last?” she asked me. And I don’t know the exact answer. I want to know but I don’t. Just for assurance as I don’t know the exact time frame.
I was not very sure about how long we have to carry out this drama of fake marriage. Maybe a few months or. As few years. But, I need to give her an assurance so I say.
“It can take anywhere up to six months to a year.” I answered me with calmness again. This calmness. I don’t know what to do with his calm and cold personality. My voice is betraying my inner turmoil.
I wanted Ava and her friendship all to my self all the time we will be married to each other but it is going to be very difficult for us to live together as my family will be super pissed off.
The friendship we were starting to have is getting burnt somewhere but that’s unacceptable because I want her laughter I want her sadness all for my self.
“We will live together for the time period. We are married and everyone should know that we are married. And nobody, not a single soul should doubt it. Once all my Matters are settled Then we both moved to a different path and will never meet each other again.” I told her to make sure she is well informed about it.
This version of Ava is so much different than the one she was at café. We were both very carefree at the café. We talked out brains out. And laughed so much together.
“But from time to time I have to go to meet my brother at my own home.” she told me. As if that will become a problem but I just nodded. In understanding.
“We can come up with an excuse for it, don’t you worry. It is nothing to worry about.” i said to her with assurance in my voice.
“Anything else that I should be known of ahead Of the fact that we get married?” she asked me.
“Another important topic is my mother.” I informed her, contemplating her expression and looking at her face constantly to see if she flinch under my. Stare. She did not flinch at all.
She is a string women. Much stronger than I thought she would be. She started in my eyes with nothing but co operation.
“What about your mother?” she asked me with curiosity, lacing her voice.
I took a deep breath and looked at her with that undying calmness and said, “Ava, My mother, Matilda Dell, is a very domineering and complex woman.” I said to her as if that is something to be scared of. Because, it is. She should be scared of my mother. She is the only person who will be against our marriage even more than Tia.
I realize that she hase already met my mother and she wasn’t very keen on her but it anyone can handle my mother it us Ava. Because, she is strong, stronger and one arrogant human being can shake her courage. I still remember that day when she stood up to me and fought back with so much fire.
She narrow her eye at me and said to me with a smile, “You mean to say that she is just like you?”
I laughed at that and shook my head, Because she is not. Completely wrong. I almost agree with her on that. I and my mother are very alike. But one thing is for sure, I like Ava more than my mother.
“I just want To inform you that she must be against a marriage and she’ll be very angry at us. She will not accept you or our marriage. So yeah, it is going to be very difficult for you. It won’t be easy at all. I want you to make a decision knowing this fact that it is going to be difficult.” I informed her because I don’t want her to get hurt because of my mother. I know my mother will be not very pleasant with her and will find ways to degrade Eva as much as she can.
“Don’t worry, I know for a fact that I can handle your mom. I can endure her impatience with the patience of my own, and if not, I’ll try to behave my best with her. I’m sure I can stand her, I mean. Other people have it worse.”She said to me, with so much enthusiasm leasing in her voice that I. Actually thought that she is happy to marry me. Which shouldn’t be true as she didn’t want to do it just 24 hours ago.
“Any thing else?” She asked me.
“Nope, I’ll apply for an contract and then you can check it up later and we can both go through the contract once before signing it.” I told her to inform about the legal aspects of the contract. I’m not sure she knows much about this. After all it is both of ours first time signing up for something like this.
“Okay, that’s good for me.” She said to me with a peaceful smile and something wrong spread through my body. After seeing that smile. I didn’t realize how beautiful her smile was until now. And I would move heaven and hell to see it on her face plastered 24/7. She is so optimistic and positive. Everything that I am not. She’s going to marry a complete stranger. For some bizarre reason, and yet she looks happy about that, and she’s optimistic about it. That must say a lot about her personality. I should learn from her on how to solve my problems peacefully.
She left my office very soon after that and I missed her presents already. But even if she left office or presence last year. I could feel the nervous taps of her legs. One of those nervous glances.
She seemed to be imprinted on my soul like a stamp on a paper.
