He went back to his seat with a smile in his cold eyes and started the car.
Arien sat there with a blushing face. Her head was so low that she looked like an ostrich. She didn’t dare to lift her head up.
The car drove for some time.
After about 15 minutes Arien got where they were heading to.
It was… the lover’s tower again!
Arien involuntarily blushed. Her face and neck were flushed red like a ripe tomato. The scene of her kissing him came into her mind.
Devian stopped the car and came over to Arien’s side. Opening the car door he bend down and picked her up.
“I can walk… Devian” Arien pushed him lightly but he still pretended not to listen to her.
He walked to the tower. Arien was only able to look at his defined chin. She didn’t know that he was indeed smiling.
“It’s late at night and the place would not be open” Arien said with confusion.
But to her surprise it was open and Devian walked straight into the lift.
Arien noticed something. “Why don’t you have to buy a ticket?”
Devian smiled and looked at her.
“Why do you think I call before coming here?” He said.
“Did you book this place?” Arien spoke. “Haha! How can that be? It must be a coincidence, isn’t it?”
She thought it to be impossible for Devian to book such a place being the owner of only a small Visight company!
“Why, if I say I bought it for you?” He looked at her studying her every expression.
The lift opened and Devian walked out. The night sky was full of stars, beautiful and romantic. The breeze blowing was refreshing.
But Arien was at first in a state of shock, then confused then finally laughed. “Don’t you joke a lot Devian?”
She thought it to be a joke. How can he buy it?
“Listen, you don’t need to buy everything to stay happy.” She said holding back her laughter.
“But if it’s for you, I’ll do anything” he said in his usual voice, very low but Arien heard it clearly.
“… Devian?” She didn’t understand why he suddenly said that but her heart started racing. She could feel his heart beating faster as well. “Did he really bought this place?” She thought.
“You…. Can put me down” she said.
“Nope, your legs would hurt.” he replied.
“We can sit there. I won’t feel pain if I sit?” Arien pointed to a bench.
Devian made her sit on the bench and sat beside her. Arien didn’t make eye contact with him. She was still blushing.
“So do you like our date?” He asked.
“A date?” Arien was shocked. “Shouldn’t you have asked me before taking me out for a date?”
This man is really unpredictable. He bought her to a date just like that?
Oh man! her leg is sprained! Come on!!!
They both sat there quietly for a while looking at the stars.
Everything seemed to be at peace.
Arien glanced at him from the corner of her eyes.
“You Pervert!” She suddenly shouted. “Why are you doing this to me? Why do you have to? Can’t you just be as you are and not show so much care and concerns for me. I don’t want to get used to these thing. I don’t want to get used to you, Devian! Stop doing this!”
Tears filled in her eyes but she still didn’t dare to look at him. She was looking at the ground all the while she spoke.
“You’ll have to stop doing this.” She shouted and two crystal clear drops of tears fell from her eyes like broken beads.
Devian didn’t know why she started shouting. He didn’t even know how to console her. He just let her complete.
“Just stop being so good to me okay?” She finally looked at him with her eyes filled with tears.
“And why should I?” He asked looking at her.
“Because…. Because we’ll go our own ways after a while, right? Why to wait for that time. Moreover you shouldn’t lie to your parents regarding your marriage ‘coz they care about you and your life. Tell them that it’s a lie, our marriage and everything, it’s just a show. They love you and they won’t be mad at you. If anything happens, I’ll take all the blame okay? But we need to stop pretending now.”
“If we keep acting like this, I’m scared I would… be used to it and I won’t be able to leave you. Do you get that Devian?” She kept speaking. Her voice changed from shout to whisper. “I even heard you were taking to someone about marrying somebody the person likes. What about me? Am I a toy for you?”
“But what if I won’t want you to leave?” He kept his hand on her.
“There is no if’s Devian!” She stood up shouting and accidentally hurt her leg.
“Ahh!” She felt that she would fall and closed her eyes waiting for the expected pain to come.
But unexpectedly she didn’t feel any pain. She fell in a warm embrace. Devian held her and pulled her closer, supporting her to stand.
Arien opened her eyes slowly only to see his frowning face.
“Can’t you be a bit more careful?” He snorted.
“Why do you care?” She looked at him.
“Why can’t I?” he answered her with another question.
“It was not the answer for my question” she felt her heart beat increasing gradually.
“Devian, don’t care about me so much. I don’t want to make it a habit!” She said sadly.
Devian bend down and kissed her lips. A soft and warm kiss in a moment that was only their. His kiss was overwhelming like a beautiful trick designed by nature to stop speech when their words became superfluous.
Arien was lost in his unexpected act and she didn’t realize when she started reciprocating to it.
Devian didn’t know how to express by words but he believed in action. He showed what he wanted through this kiss.
After a while he let her go. He caressed her swollen lips with his finger.
“Now you know” he spoke in her ears.
Arien was flushed red. She could figure out what he was saying but to avoid any misunderstandings she still asked “What should I know?”
“You still don’t understand?” He raised his eyebrows.”Or you’re enjoying my kisses?”
“Huh!” Arien never thought he would say something like that.
“I don’t understand that’s all okay!” She shouted again.
“When you lie, you shout. It’s your habit Mrs Lyle.” Devian smiled.
“Can you please make it clear?” Arien was not in a mood to joke.
“Arien…” After a while of silence Devian finally spoke. “I want you to consider our marriage. Just stay with me and I promise I would never let anyone bully you. I would take your care and responsibilities. I would give you all you want.”
Devian was expressing himself yet his face was expressionless.
“And about the marriage you were talking about?” She asked.
“Silly girl!” Devian rubbed her head “I was talking to my grandmother. She was a bit angry because I married just like that. That’s all” Devian paused for a moment and then added “And… consider our marriage”
He had never spoke words of love or affection to anyone so he would have had a hesitation but he still spoke without stopping. His voice was firm and full of commitment.
“Devian, umm… Are you sure.” Arien still didn’t want any confusion so she asked again.
“Yes.” Devian said looking straight into her eyes.
“You know what, Devian.” Arien looked at the sky and spoke “I wanted to….”stay.
“Look a shooting star!” She pointed at the sky.
