Jace
I am face to face with the most hated individual of my life. The nightmare I have always loathed is happening right now. My life is on the verge of being ruined completely. My family has put itself in danger so as to find my soulmate and get her out of here. I can’t let them down and let Dwayne defeat me. I am going to do this for the people that I love most.
“What do you want from me, Dwayne?” I inquire from him for the fifth time since I reached here. He chuckles and shakes his head slightly, a habit I have always hated about him.
“You have everything, you know. You already took everything from me. Why take Amy? She has nothing to do with us. Let her go,” my voice keeps raising as I talk to this irritating jerk.
“First of all, you are in no position to tell me what to do. Second of all, I am not letting the human girl go,” he says.
What the f**k!
“I thought you wanted me. Here I am. Now let the girl go,” I shout at him. I am now fuming with fury. I think I am going to combust. How dare he?
“The girl is agreeably pretty. She looks like a real Luna, wouldn’t you agree?”
“What the hell?”
“As you can see, I don’t have a Luna. The human girl would be nice to breed if she gets turned,” he smirks. i won’t be able to stand my ground and promise to have a civilized talk with Dwayne if he keeps spitting nonsense like this. In a blink of an eye, I lurch towards him and punch his jaw with my clenched fist. He staggers backwards having been caught unawares. He groans and winces while trying to regain his balance.
“I suggest that I restrain you if you can’t keep your hands to yourself,” he says with pure anger in his eyes.
“You better keep your damn mouth shut if you won’t stop talking shit about Amy,” I roar at him.
At that moment, his guards walk into the room like timid chickens. Dwayne raises his hand to stop them and they obey.
“I should warn you that you should keep your damn thoughts off my mate because she will never be yours. Even the moon goddess knows how evil you are. That is why she never gave you a mate of your own. You could never treat a female right,” I continue firing at him, not minding the fact that his guards are watching.
“What? That you are the one that knows how females are supposed to be treated? What could you possibly give a female?”
“Love,” I respond in a firm voice.
“Love?” he laughs.
“Yes, love. I can love her because I know how it feels to have someone that loves you. You don’t know how it feels because all these people around you just obey you because of your bullshit power and wealth you never worked for.” His jaw tightens as he tries to contain his anger. His eyes are blazing with an urge to transform into his wolf, and so am I.
“Shut your damn mouth!” he commands but I don’t shudder. He is not my Alpha so I can’t just submit to him when he commands. I stand unshaken in front of him without showing any sign of shutting my mouth.
“Why should I? My words are not daggers? I don’t think words could do any harm to a beast without a heart. I am just saying what I should have said a long time ago. That is what everyone should have told you. All this bullshit excuse of you being an Alpha has just kept them quiet,” I am breathless when I finish.
“Good thing you know that I am a beast because I am not affected by what people think of me. I get what I want how I want and when I want,” he says while walking slowly around me.
“You think you are so great because you have a lot of love to give everyone. Well look at Amy. You just entered her life a few minutes ago, and what is she going through right now because of you?”
I have already blamed myself for Amy’s current situation and hearing Dwayne use it against me really pushes my buttons. It takes all my self-control not to land another blow on his cheek, and this time burst his lips.
“You can’t just blame me for what you did.”
“I am sure the girl has a brain brilliant enough to decide on whether she still wants to be yours.”
“Amy would rather be alone that with a beast like you.”
He snorts with a mocking laughter.
“Why won’t you just accept the fact that no human being in her right state of mind would agree to love a wolf. You will still be an animal, Jace. At some point the thought will cross her mind and she will regret…”
A hot blow lands on his jaw cutting the talk short. I hold him by the collar and look him in the eyes. His guards dash towards us but he doesn’t give them a signal to stop me.
“I told you to remove your damn thoughts off, Amy. Don’t you ever talk about her like that!”
Another blow right to his left check and blood oozes out of his bursted lip. My wolf is on the verge of surfacing because of the adrenaline rush. I do my best to keep him at bay.
“Why can’t you just fight me like a real man, huh! Why should you use my girlfriend to shake me? I am not the little boy that hid under the table while you slayed my parents. I am capable of handling my own battles and this one is one of those that I very much intend to win.” I release his collar and he straightens his caught with a disgusting smile.
“So you think you are man enough now to fight me? Just because you landed a few blows on my jaw doesn’t mean that you can beat me up boy. You need more than that, boy. You need more than you to take me down. Not even your small family will be enough,” he says with a smirk.
“Don’t you dare bring my family into this!” I bark at him and he laughs.
“Me? You are the one who dragged them here, aren’t you?” he cocks his head to one side study my facial expression.
I look around the great hall and my eyes go wide when I see Ellen standing at the entrance between two men holding her like a captive. She is tied with her hands behind her back and. I was so high with the adrenaline rush that I didn’t hear them enter. Fuck! They have got Ellen. I hope all the others are okay.
Ellen was supposed to offer a distraction if Sophia found Amy. Did Sophia find her? Is she alright? Having broken away from the pack, we can not communicate through the pack mind.
“We found her trying to find where the girl is?” one of them says.
“Really? This is so pitifully, don’t you think?” he looks at me with mocking eyes and I clench my fists tight, ready to land another blow when I get the chance.
“Did she find her?” his eyes don’t leave mine.
“No, she didn’t. We found her still roaming in the corridors.”
“I don’t think she is the only one on the rescue team. Go check if she is still there,” he commands and two of the guards immediately climb up the stairs.
I dash towards Ellen and one of the guards stands in my way to stop me. I shoot him a warning glare and stands aside. I bet he didn’t want to be shoved into the wall.
“Are you alright?” I inquire from Elle who nods in response.
“I am fine. You don’t have to worry about me,” she responds in a whisper. There is no need to whisper around here. Everyone around is a werewolf and they can hear the smallest of whispers with there high senses. I want to ask her if Sophia found Amy but I know everyone will hear. I hope she found her and the boys haven’t got into trouble.
“I thought I made the point clear that you should come alone. Don’t you have any regards for your family’s safety?” Dwayne cracks from behind me.
“We are not that selfish to stand back and let Jace go through all this on his own,” Ellen tells him.
“Nice. So you prefer I kill you along with your entire family,” he says looking at me.
“We are not going to let you win this time, Dwayne. We are going to stand our ground and kick your ass off the Alpha’s throne,” Ellen shouts at him before I can respond.
“Fascinating female aren’t you? So tell me. How do you plan on kicking my ass? Do you have an assembly of robots or your pathetic little family?” he says with a mocking smirk.
“My family is not pathetic. You are the pathetic one. Kidnapping an innocent human and using her to win against Jace. You think you are so strong and unbeatable, but the moon goddess is high above you. With a snap of a finger your rule will be over and forgotten,” Ellen tells him. He shrieks with laughter and throws his head back to laugh louder.
“So you are going to use the moon goddess against me. Is this a joke? If she was that powerful, I wouldn’t be alive. I have done so many evil things and I don’t think kidnapping a little human is going to wake her up,” he says.
At that moment, the two guards climb down the stairs with fear on there faces. The stand in front of Dwayne who looks at them in confusion.
“What happened?” he asks them.
“Sir. The girl. She is gone,” one of them responds between stammers. A hot slap lands on his face and he staggers backwards onto the floor. Dwayne clenches his fists in fury and the next guard prepares himself for his wrath. Dwayne kicks him in the guts and he winces in pain.
“We are so sorry sir,” the guard pleads with him.
“How could that happen. Where are the men that were supposed to guard the room?” he roars with eyes wide, almost popping out of their sockets.
“We found them down sir. They were dead. There heads had been cut off.”
“Damn it!” he curses while pacing about.
“Find her and whoever took her. If you can’t bring them alive then bring me their bodies,” he commands and guards ran up and down to look for them. I don’t know whether to feel more relieved that Amy has been found or to worry that Dwayne has ordered for her to be killed with Sophia.
