Damon Chase, if you asked me who he is six months ago, well let’s see, famous playboy with an insatiable sex drive. Loved an easy woman and the thrill of fast cars, also multibillionaire with a ruthless business drive. In a man’s world, the perfect man but in a woman’s world, depending who you ask, a man whore.
Never did I know what love is let alone being in love. I never thought anyone would ever make me smile, laugh and capture my heart. Never did I think I will fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time. Whether it was fate or karma, love found me and I found love.
My journey has come far, at times I did not understand it and at times it was really hard. My love was questioned and my patience tested. I have learned that people aren’t perfect, that relationships aren’t perfect. What I have learned is it is the ride that matters and who you have by your side.
Today is our rehearsal dinner, yes it is a week before the wedding but seeing that there is a definite possibility that Skye’s father is going to floor my father, we opted to have it early in case there needs to be time for a blue eye to be healed.
Damon ~”Bunny you have changed dresses six times. That one you have on now is perfect.”
Skye ~”Baby, I am trying to color coordinate with you.”
Damon ~”Baby unless you want to wear black to your rehearsal dinner, you are never going to match.”
I twirl her around in a circle.
Damon ~”You are so damn gorgeous, I forgot to tell you how much I love you.”
I lean into her, with my one hand holding the small of her back, I bend her backwards.
Damon ~”More than I ever thought that I could love someone.”
I kiss her and it feels like the world falls away. The kiss is as delicate as a butterfly. It is slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. There is something unique about this kiss, and it is that we love one another down to our souls. It is a sacred bond between two minds, two bodies and two souls. As we part I see her eyes sparkle and lips curve up into a smile and I can’t help but smile back.
Damon ~”Come beautiful, let’s go knock them out.”
Skye ~”Hahaha that is what my father is going to do to your father, knock him the hell out.”
Damon ~”Oh my god, don’t remind me, I can just see how this night is going to end.”
Skye ~”Hey at least we are providing them with entertainment.”
Damon ~”Maybe I should have built that mud pit here in the back.”
Skye ~”Come before I throw you in a mud pit.”
Damon ~”Do you have the keys to the building?”
Skye ~”Yes and the house keys too.”
We have not told her dad about the company or the house yet, the renovations ended up taking a bit longer than we anticipated. So her dad has been staying with us for the time being and he has been helping Jo at the coffee shop. We plan on giving it to him tonight. It is going to be a fun night full of drama.
The setting for the rehearsal dinner is in lush garden. The trees has lights wrapped around and hanging from it. It is simple but yet beautiful.
There will be caterers with waiters that will serve food and drink during the evening. A band will be providing the background music, place has been made for those that wish to let loose and dance. And lastly a professional photographer that will capture all the memories.
Just before six, the guests start arriving.
Everyone is seated around the table. What is peculiar at this stage, is that Matthew and Richard has not said a word to each other yet BUT the night is still young and everybody is still sober.
We get the welcome and thank you speeches out the way first. And of course my bunny gets stage fright so it is left up to me to deliver.
Damon ~”I am going to leave all the big speeches for the wedding so I don’t bore you to death.”
Brody ~”Thank god because we don’t feel like listening to your whining voice.”
Mason ~”Or watch a grown ass man cry.”
Damon ~”On second thought maybe I should tell everyone how I met Skye.”
Brody ~”Fuck we all know that.”
Mason ~”In fact we all played a part in that.”
Damon ~”You two assholes are really stealing my thunder here.”
Matthew ~”Thunder is what you are going to feel if you don’t get on with it.”
Damon ~”Where was I?”
Skye ~”About to finish your stupid speech.”
Damon ~”Do you want to come do it bunny?”
Skye ~”No you can carry on.”
Jo ~”Tell us why you call her bunny?”
Damon ~”Cause she is a little speed freak. She is the only woman that I know that can go from zero to sixty in two seconds when it should not even be possible.”
Skye ~”Hey my dad taught me really good. Hey daddy?”
Matthew ~”Yes my pumpkin.”
I collect my marbles and carry on.
Damon ~”The thing is, that if it was not for every one of you that did it in some way, I would have never met this wonderful woman.”
Jo ~”Don’t forget the girls had the same bet as the boys.”
Damon ~”Yes you and Amber were just as bad as these two here.”
Mason ~”Who was the one that really started it from the beginning?”
Damon ~”That crooked brother of mine.”
Rowan ~”Don’t look at me.”
Brody ~”The man was taken bimbos home, we had to save him.”
Tajsa ~”Like you did not take bimbos home.”
Brody ~”But look I got you.”
Tajsa ~”Are you saying I am a bimbo?”
Brody ~”No baby, not at all.”
Damon ~”Who just got whipped?”
Richard ~”You kids make our old men look like angels.”
I got side-tracked again, this might take a bit longer than I thought.
Damon ~”Okay, let’s move on.”
Skye ~”Are you giving a speech or just talking shit.”
Damon ~”Bunny they keep interrupting me.”
Brody ~”Who got whipped now?”
Matthew ~”There is an awful lot of whipping going on here.”
Damon ~”Matthew wait until Jo starts her whipping.”
Jo ~”Why on earth would I do that?”
Skye ~”Agh come on Jo, we saw you two kissing in the back.”
Matthew ~”You absolutely wrong.”
Skye ~”Daddy you won’t lie to me, will you?”
Matthew ~”No pumpkin.
Skye ~”Then just admit it.”
Damon ~”Bunny don’t put your dad on the spot. Will you please go get those things in your bag?”
Rowan ~”What things does she have in her bag?”
Brody ~”Are we playing a drinking game?”
Damon ~”Brody, you will give poor Maggie a heart attack.”
Maggie ~”Believe me son, I already had one. You boys are naughty shits.”
Ashley ~”I agree with you there Maggie.”
Leia ~Me too, these boys have been up to no good since they were fourteen.”
Mason ~”Hey I was good.”
Brody ~”Yes cause you were too busy chasing poor Tajsa.”
Mason ~”It was only flowers man.”
Damon ~”Stolen flowers if I may add.”
Skye comes back with her bag.
Damon ~”Before I finish my speech that you keep interrupting, I would like to say something else.”
Skye ~”And shut the fuck up until he is finished.”
Damon ~”You tell them baby.”
Skye ~”Damon that means you to.”
Damon ~”The lady has spoken so I won’t mess around. If there is one person I need to thank then it is Matthew, we would not be here if you did not give us your blessing.”
Matthew ~”She is just as stubborn as her mother, she would still have until I said yes.”
Damon ~”You have given both of us a gift that cannot easily be returned. Now I strongly believe that you would not like to hear our attempts at making grandchildren.”
Matthew ~”Okay I so did not want to hear that but carry on.”
Damon ~”Sadly when Amber passed away, we had to make the difficult decision to sell her house but then when we got you back we still had not sold it. So, we want you to have her house. I have taken the girly stuff out and made it in a man cave for you.”
Skye ~”So daddy here is the keys. Damon and I will go show you were it is tomorrow.”
Damon ~”That is if I don’t have a hangover.”
Skye ~”Damon.”
Damon ~”Okay bunny I will still do it even if I have a hangover.”
Skye ~”Good, I see you are learning quicker everyday.”
Brody ~”Whipped.”
Tajsa ~”Brody.”
Mason ~Hahaha you both got whipped.”
Leia ~You are going to get smacked.”
Skye ~”I said shut the fuck up until Damon is finished.”
Skye’s dad stands up and walk around to where we both are standing.
Matthew ~”Damon, my pumpkin, I don’t know what to say.”
Skye ~”Daddy you don’t need to say anything. Ambi would have wanted it this way.”
Damon ~”We just fixed up the kitchen and bathroom because it was a bit too pink.”
Matthew ~”Thank you. You two have really done a lot for me. I don’t think I even know how to repay you.”
Skye ~”But daddy wait, there is more.”
Damon ~”Bunny do you want to do it or must I?”
Skye ~”Baby you can.”
Damon ~”Matthew we all around this table know what you have been through. We know how it started and how it ended. I said to Skye that I want to give you back what you lost.”
Skye ~”I asked him how can he bring mom back or give you all those years you were away back too.”
Damon ~”I told her I can’t, I can only give you something that will give you purpose, to make you feel like a man again. Matthew this set of keys opens up a big office building that has been fully renovated, has support staff on standby, all it need is a name and a CEO.”
Skye ~”Daddy that is your building, your company. It is a gift from Damon and me. We can’t give you your life back but we can give you a future.”
Skye’s dad stumbles a bit back and is nearly knocked over but Jo is there to catch him before he falls. There is tears brewing on the brink of his eyes. He is trying to stay strong but falling apart now is the only option.
Matthew ~”Damon when you came to ask for her hand and to offer me help, you said to me that you are nothing like your father andyou have proven it to me again. You better stop now son cause at this rate I will never be able to repay you.”
Skye ~”Daddy it is a gift, all we want is for you to be happy.”
Matthew ~”There is one thing I want to say though and it is to Richard. I know that everyone is waiting for me to knock the shit out of you. Believe me I want to but that makes me no better than you. What you and Giselle did is unforgivable but you know what I am not going to walk with anger in me and make myself a bitter man. We are unfortunately family now so we just need to learn to live with each other.”
Matthew and Jo go sit back down. He is still crying but I think it is tears of joy.
Damon ~”Okay now to finish what I wanted to say.”
Skye ~”Just make it quick, I want to drink.”
Damon ~”Thank you for all of you for being here and I will see your asses in Bora Bora. We are flying on Saturday morning which for you two idiots are in two days’ time.”
Brody ~”But the wedding is only in a week.”
Skye ~”If you don’t want to have a week in the sun then I will cancel your flight.”
Tajsa ~”Can you shut the fuck up?”
Brody ~”Yes baby.”
Skye ~”If someone says whipped then I am going to smack him.”
Damon ~”I will save the real speech for the wedding. So eat, get drunk and make an ass of yourself on the dance floor and that includes you Maggie.”
Maggie ~”You very cheeky today, I will make you come dance with me.”
Damon ~”Hey I am not afraid, I am still young, I know how to shake my ass.”
Skye ~”Giselle come sit here by us girls, the boys can keep each other entertained.”
Fuck I love this woman, she has got such a heart of gold. She is willing to see past their differences and make this family work.
The rehearsal dinner goes off as a breeze, everyone gets drunk and end up on the dancefloor doing some shit called line dancing, and yes we all look like a bunch of synchronized idiots.
Saturday morning comes and it is absolute chaos around the house.
Skye ~”Damon Chase! I told you to pack last night! Now I have to do it again! If I forget something then it is your fault.”
Damon ~”Bunny if we forget something then we just buy it there.”
Skye ~”You always have an easy answer for everything.”
Damon ~”But bunny.”
Skye ~”Don’t but bunny me. Go shower and get dressed, you just standing here and irritating me.”
Damon ~”But you love me.”
Skye ~”Yes I do, but you are driving me crazy. Get that sexy ass in that shower.”
A half hour later she is finished packing and getting dressed.
I finish up in the shower and get ready myself.
I hear her shouting from the kitchen.
Skye ~”BABY THEY ARE HERE!”
Damon ~”I AM COMING BUNNY.”
I grab what I need of the dressing table, most importantly, her ring and make my way downstairs to the kitchen.
Brody ~”Come bitches let’s get going.”
Mason ~”The honeys on the beach are waiting.”
Skye ~”I am going to tell Leia that.”
Mason ~”Hey I am just joking.”
Brody ~”Let’s load the shit and get going. We have to go pick all the old people up.”
Damon ~”You two have way too much energy. How many whiskeys have you have?”
Mason ~”Two.”
Brody ~”No I think it was three.”
Skye ~”And you?”
Damon ~”Uhm… two.”
Skye ~”Damon Chase what am I going to do with you?”
Damon ~”Marry me?”
Skye ~”Well get this shit in the van so that we can go do that.”
After picking the rest of the group up, we off to the airport. The mood and atmosphere is energetic, everyone is happy and excited. This is going to be the best week of my life.
I am off to Bora Bora to marry the love of my life.
