When the plane landed at Zurich it was just at sunset. The beautiful scenery of a foreign land made me temporarily forget the worries that had nestled in my heart.
As I stepped off the plane, into the pickup car, and watched Calvin continue to talk on the phone, my heart suddenly tightened.
Calvin realized my face was wrong, he reached out and took my hand and comforted me with his eyes.
My heart calmed down a little, but when the car stopped in front of a luxurious and gorgeous mansion, I couldn’t help but clasp Calvin’s big hand tightly, so nervous, really nervous.
“It’s okay, follow me!” Calvin led me out of the car.
It was already night, and the dim street lights in the mansion were on. I looked at Calvin, who was walking beside me, and calmed down.
Yeah, what was there to be afraid of? With him by my side, as long as he still loves me, that’s enough!
The servant opened the door, and I saw the two of them sitting on the sofa. I knew from the outside that they must be Calvin’s parents. They looked so much alike.
“Hello, Auntie,” I greeted anxiously at first.
But Mrs. Smith frowned and quickly interrupted me, “Call me Mrs. Smith!”
I looked embarrassed, but I knew her attitude, she didn’t like me. Calvin squeezed my hand and led me to her seat across from him.
“She’s the woman who made you miss her for six years?” Mrs. Smith’s voice was still low.
“Yes!” admitted Calvin.
Smith’s father glanced at Calvin, then his eyes fell on me, ” I don’t recognize your marriage!”
I wasn’t expecting that scene so soon.
“Papa! She’s my love, as long as I love her, I don’t need your approval.” Calvin was not afraid of his father.
“I see many women like her, but they are only because of your family background and wealth. If he was just a poor boy, would you still say that?” Owen Smith scoffed.
“Mr. Smith, it seems that you don’t care about your son. If you understood what happened between us, you wouldn’t say things like that!” Thinking I can no longer pretend to be weak, I smiled anyway, “I can say that even if he’s poor, but as long as we love each other, I’m willing to go with him.”
“Who believes that!” Owen Smith looked around and saw that the servants standing around were looking at the woman in front of him with shocked eyes. His eyes narrowed and there was anger in his voice. This was the first time someone dared to provoke him.
“Is it a lie? Let time prove it!” I shrugged.
“Do you know what happens when you talk to me like that?” Owen Smith stood up angrily and took a step forward with a cold expression.
I was taken aback and quickly hid behind Calvin, “Hey, Mr. Smith, calm down!”
Calvin shielded me behind him, stood up and faced his father, he wasn’t a kid anymore.
“Tell me how you and Calvin met.” Fiona Smith pulled her husband back onto the sofa and said softly.
But Owen Smith seemed angry and walked away.
I didn’t expect the subject to change so quickly, I scratched my cheek, a little embarrassed, not sure where to start.
“For six years!”
Fiona Smith seemed to see what I was thinking.
I thought about it for a while, not hiding it, and briefly recounted what had happened then.
Fiona Smith listened uncomprehendingly, then asked, “I heard you turned him down?”
I was stunned and didn’t know what to say.
“You don’t like him!” continued Fiona Smith, “You have someone in your heart, and even when he’s in such a good place, you look down on him!”
I don’t know what Fiona Smith means. I frowned and replied, “I didn’t like Calvin at first, but-”
“But then he was willing to spend money on you, so you fell in love with him!” Fiona Smith interrupted me in a cold voice.
This was a total slander to me. Abruptly, I stood up and tried to explain.
But Calvin was faster than me and he was very angry.
“Mom!”
Fiona Smith was not surprised when she saw Calvin’s angry look. She raised her eyebrows, “I was right!”
“Mom, can you stop guessing!” Calvin became angry.
“I’m just telling the truth!” Fiona Smith still sat gracefully, holding the teacup in his hand and taking a sip.
“That’s not the truth!” “I only accepted Calvin when I really fell in love with him, it has nothing to do with his life experience!”
Fiona Smith scoffed, “It doesn’t matter? So if he was just a slutty tramp like when you first met him, you’d still fall for him?”
“That assumption is not true!” I was also irritated by Fiona Smith and said angrily, “And I didn’t think he was a slut then!”
“But you didn’t fall in love with him then!” said Fiona Smith coldly.
I laughed angrily now, “Mrs. Smith, there’s a problem with what you said, I’m not a pervert, I’m not going to fall in love at first sight lightly!
Fiona Smith tilted her head as if she was thinking. After a while, she nodded, “Well, she’s very talkative. The reason is funny.”
I was about to defend myself when Calvin took my hand and shook his head at me.
“So, now tell me, what do you love about Calvin?” Fiona Smith not seeming to want to let go of me, she continued to ask.
“Love doesn’t need a reason.” AlexiaI responded quickly, not letting it get to me. If I were to list the benefits of Calvin right now, I’m sure Fiona Smith would find the difference.
“Really?” Fiona Smith gave a sideways glance.
“I…” I was about to disagree, but Calvin held me in his arms and stopped me from speaking.
Calvin took me in his arms, then turned to Fiona Smith and said coldly, “Mom, I know you don’t want to see me, but please don’t target Alexia. I’m going after her from start to finish. Forcing her, she’s fine, if I didn’t have her I would not have been in this world a long time ago. I love her! I love her more than I love myself! I will never let her go !”
I hadn’t expected Calvin to stand up to her mother for me, because his words made my heart tremble violently and my eyes were so sore.
“Then you know you could lose your inheritance rights for marrying at random!” Fiona Smith ‘s expression was impatient.
“I don’t care!” Calvin smiled indifferently, with a trace of boredom, “Without me, there would be nothing in the family, haven’t my father and you already decided? Why are you using my marriage to threaten me?”
Fiona Smith stood up abruptly, gave him a resounding slap, Calvin tilted his head slightly.
I cringed and unconsciously raised my head to look at Calvin, with both hands I clutched his shirt, Calvin shook my hand and comforted me quietly while smiling Fiona Smith at me.
“What are you laughing at?” mocked Fiona Smith, his eyes full of sternness.
“I took the initiative to retire, mother, what are you not happy with?” Calvin did not reply Fiona Smith.
“Just for her?!” Fiona Smith pointed sharply at me, her expression no longer graceful.
I was so confused, I didn’t even know what they were talking about.
“It has nothing to do with her!” Calvin pulled me back and covered me with his large body.
“I’ve had enough of me. Because of this, my sister almost died. If it wasn’t for me, I wouldn’t be insisting on it at all. So far, you know better than anyone, don’t you, Mama?”
When Fiona Smith heard Calvin mention his sister, her face was no longer cold as before, but sad. Her eyelashes half drooped as if she was thinking about something, and she didn’t speak for a while.
I’m completely confused. Is the reason why his sister became a vegetative not a natural disaster, but a man-made disaster?
“Mom, I know you don’t want to see me, I’m leaving tonight!” Calvin took a deep breath and looked very depressed. After saying this, he hugged me and headed towards the door.
I kept getting the feeling that something was wrong. I wanted to ask Calvin. When I saw that he was making a bad face, I could only put it on hold.
Calvin took me to his room, and I didn’t want to watch it because Calvin was pale and a little weak. It was the first time I had seen him at such a fragile moment. I helped him sit down and asked, “Is it okay? ”
Calvin took my hand and hugged me, sitting down on his lap. He buried his face in my neck, “I’m sorry.”
I was surprised, “Why?”
Calvin looked up and glared at me, “Don’t assume what my mother said!”
I couldn’t care less, I shook my head, “Your mother-”
“My mother talks like that, actually she’s not malicious, you have nothing to worry about!” Calvin stroked my cheek, but seeing the doubt on my face he asked again, “What are you thinking about?”
“I was thinking about what you said to your mother.” Calvin and his parents understood each other in a strange way.
“What?” asked Calvin.
“Your sister …” I asked, sighing in my heart that being a rich person isn’t easy.
Calvin was silent for a moment, seeming to consider what to say. I could tell he was embarrassed so I reached out and squeezed his lips, “Don’t say it if it makes you uncomfortable, I just want you to be safe.”
Calvin took my hand away, frowned slightly and said in a low voice, “There’s nothing uncomfortable to say, I didn’t tell you before, I’m afraid you’re worried and afraid-”
“What are you afraid of?” asked I.
“Afraid of being rejected by you!” Calvin sighed and said helplessly, “You hate me so much. If you know the dirty things in my house, you need to turn your head and run!”
I gave Calvin a blank look. “I’m not that shy!”
“It’s not a happy thing to be born into a family like that. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been constantly studying. I haven’t had time to play like normal kids. And I left home when I was five years old. So the relationship with her is very ordinary. On the contrary, she loves her daughter very much. When I was young, I saw that she was so good to her, but so strict to me, so I was very sad, so I tried to show myself more. ”
Calvin began to tell. His voice was as indifferent as ever. If it weren’t for some information, I thought he was talking about something that had nothing to do with him.
