Soon Nathan left and Brisa said to Yanis, “I think Nathan is a nice, hardworking, capable and kind young man, and he must have a sense of responsibility.
Yanis looked at Brisa with some impatience, and Brisa immediately said, -It doesn’t matter, he’s gone anyway.
Yanis pretended not to hear Brisa’s words, as elders always do.
For a few days Yanis was a little down, until Jack arrived at the restaurant and Yanis could hardly smile, so she talked to him for a while.
-Aunt Yanis, if you’re not busy, can you go out with me? -Jack took Yanis’ hand and cuddled.
Yanis paused and looked at Jack, -Where do you want to go?
-The playground.
Jack never went to the playground, he didn’t like what the other children liked. But Yanis used to ask Jack to go with him when he was abroad.
She was always so excited about the roller coaster and the pirate ship that Jack looked down on her and said, -Don’t be so childish, Aunt Yanis, you’re all grown up, I don’t understand why you like children’s rides.
Yanis grabbed his ear, -What? I came to play to relax…. You see, I’m not the only adult here.
Jack slapped Yanis’ hand painfully, -But they’re here for the kids.
-And so am I!
-But I didn’t want to come. If you grab my ear again, I won’t be with you anymore!
Yanis let go and smiled and blew on Jack’s ear, -Sorry, honey, does your ear hurt? Will you come with me next time?
-The other time!
Jack gave her sleeve a tug and Yanis snapped back to reality.
-Aunt Yanis, shall we go?
-Yanis nodded.
She knew Jack had suggested the playground to make her happy.
After saying goodbye to Brisa, she and Jack went to the nearby playground and stayed there until evening.
When they got home, Yanis fell asleep on the couch and Jack went to the bathroom to get hot water to wash Yanis’ face, when Brisa came out and saw Jack.
-Good boy, let me do it.
After Jack washed Yanis’ face, he went to bed. Yanis rolled over and nearly fell off the couch.
Brisa immediately tried to help her.
But Yanis rolled over again and fell on the cold floor.
Then she woke up in pain and sat up, covering her knees, not knowing what had happened.
-Go to sleep in your room, you’re too old for me to carry you, child.
Yanis looked at Brisa and blinked, remembering what had happened during the day, then nodded silently and went back to her room, where Brisa became even more worried.
Brisa had seen with her own eyes how sad Yanis had been that night, but lately she had been very quiet, as if she was holding back all her emotions.
This was not going to work.
The next day
Yanis had to work even though she was tired. When she came out of the kitchen, she saw Brisa talking to Cristina.
She wondered, “What is Cristina doing here?”
Cristina saw her and immediately stepped forward. Brisa didn’t even stop her, so she had to follow her with a bit of disgust.
-You already have your own restaurant at such a young age, and you’re doing well, aren’t you?
Cristina didn’t say anything else, so Yanis smiled at her.
-Thank you, would you like to try the noodles?
-That would be great, thank you.
-Okay, you can sit down.
-Okay.
Yanis had just entered the kitchen when Brisa followed her.
-What are you doing? -Do you know why she’s here?
-Why? She walks around every day because she’s bored.
Brisa realized right away that Yanis didn’t know the truth and explained, “He wants to introduce you to a man.
Yanis was surprised.
-What?
-Do you think he’s doing it just for the noodles? Are the noodles that good?
-Of course, you know.
Brisa was speechless. Yanis’ noodles were very good, so the restaurant was doing well.
-Well, you’re right, what if he comes every day?
Yanis looked at Brisa, “That’s good.
-What? What if he doesn’t pay?
-I don’t accept freeloaders, so if he doesn’t pay, no food.
With that, Yanis left with the noodles.
