“Keep me posted eh Tony. I need to… I need to get some air,” she said, needing to get out of that place. She refused to have a breakdown in front of all these people, family, friends, or whatever. She didn’t care.
“Lily, are you alright?” Andrew asked and she nodded, leaving the room and the building towards her car. Just as she reached it, she heard someone following her. She turned and sighed, seeing it was Ginger. Not Now! She was so not in the mood for this.
“You,” she spat and Lily turned back to her car opening it. “This is all your fault! Those enforcers are dead because of you, that guy is dying because of you! James nearly lost his arm all because of you,” she snarled at Lily. Lily shook her head and got out the duffle bag and laying it on the hood. Her heart started to pound and she could feel her skin tingle with adrenaline that started to flow through her veins replacing the anxious tremor of before.
“Don’t you ignore me you monster,” Ginger growled at her “I won’t let you hurt him again! He’s mine now and you better stay away from him!” Keep your mouth shut. Don’t say anything. She can’t help being that stupid, Lily told herself as she unzipped the bad. “I said don’t ignore me!” She yelled and grabbed Lily’s arm. Lily growled grabbed Ginger by the neck.
“You don’t get to touch me!” Lily snarled at her. “Listen to me and listen to me good. You want James, want to claim him as yours? Go ahead. I’m not trying to make him mine. I’ve told him before I don’t want him as a mate or a boyfriend. Don’t come yapping at me because he wants me and not you,” Lily snapped at her and brought her in closer.
“And yes, I know this is all my fault! I have more blood on my hands than I can admit to even myself,” she continued. Lily breathed in and let the darker sides of her come out. Her fangs elongated so much they couldn’t fit into her mouth. She could feel her eyes change, and her nails on her hands grew long and sharp.
“You’re right about another thing. I’m a monster! I’m a thing of nightmares! If you ever touch or threaten me again. Hell if you dare to even try to talk to me again I’ll peel the flesh from your bones and make you watch as I eat it for a snack then drain you bit by bit till you look like some ugly ass raisin! Got it,” Lily hissed at her and with wide, fearful eyes Ginger nodded. Lily tossed her away from her and went back to the duffle, strapping on knives and guns along her hips, thighs, and arms.
Once she had everything, Lily turned to leave when Sandy came out. Ginger sobbed to the once alpha female of the pack, gushing about how Lily threatened and nearly killed her. Lily winced hearing the panic and distress in the woman’s voice but lifted her chin and started to down the street. “Lily, stop! Where are you going? What is going on? Why did you attack Ginger?” Sandy demanded and rage filled Lily.
She slowly turned to face her adoptive mother, doing her best to keep control. “Weren’t you listening to the poor Ginger? I’m a monster that’s why! Take her back inside, let her cry to James and have the doctor check her out. Screw the rest of your questions,” Lily snapped and turned back around, walking down the street. She must have looked fearsome because everyone who saw her coming either ducked inside a building or crossed to the other side of the street.
Reaching the meeting hall parking lot Lily kneeled and took in a deep breath through her nose, testing the scents. She could see why James didn’t notice the lycans in with the vampires. All of the werewolf scents were tainted with vampiric tones. It was so bad she almost didn’t recognize the scent. The vampires must have feed the lycans their blood. Lily scanned the area, wondering why they’d give them vampire blood.
Maybe it made the persuasion stronger or simply made the lycans stronger and would have a better chance against James. Lifting up her head she tested the scents in the air. She caught the attacker’s scents and was pretty sure she’d be able to follow them. Following the trail, Lily entered the woods that swallow the whole town but she stayed on the edge just out of sight.
It seems that Tony’s pack’s idea of building their properties all on the edge of the woods was coming to bite them in the ass. It was giving the vamps a good way to attack them. The trail was pretty strong and easy to follow till it reached the highway. At the highway the scent just ended. Lily sighed and swore softly, knowing it meant they’d taken a car to get there. Which in turn meant she couldn’t follow them back to where they were hiding.
She was just about to turn and go back when she picked up the fresh scents. There were more vampires out tonight. As if summoned by her mere thought Silvano walked out of the woods with four vampires at his back. “My pet,” Silvano greeted her and she scowled at him but relieved that she didn’t have the desire to jump him like a dog in heat. “Come it’s time to finish the bond,” he told her and she grinned at him.
“Actually I think I’ll pass,” she told him with a flat bored tone. Silvano hissed at her softly, showing his long fangs.
“So it’s true, the chucho has marked you as his,” he said and Lily tensed for a moment. How did he already know? “Then we’ll just have to see whose bond is stronger. Come,” he demanded and she felt his power wash over her but with Qin Xuan’s charm on her neck the persuasion could do nothing to her.
“Again I think I’ll pass,” Lily told him and Silvano’s eyes narrowed at her, the anger was visible in his body.
“Come here or you’re family suffers hybrid,” he demanded and now it was Lily’s turn to glare at him. Furious she walked to him, hating that her family was vulnerable to him. “Drink,” he commanded and held out his bleeding wrist. Lily lowered her mouth to his wrist, the smell of blood waking her hunger. She bit down and took a long pull from his wrist. The blood was cool but warmed her.
“There I drank you, vamp,” she snapped at him, dropping his wrist and taking a step back, ignoring as the warmth and slight euphoria spread through her. The vampire king looked very displeased as he cleaned off his wrist. “It didn’t work, your plans have failed. I’m not going to be your little slave Silvano,” she told him happily and noticed only too late the step towards her he’d taken. The butt of his cane hit her hard across the cheek and sent her flying to the ground.
Lily blinked, trying to regain focus through the pain but she felt cold fingers snake through her hair and she was pulled up quickly to her feet. The rapid movement made her dizzy and she would have fallen down if she wasn’t being held up. “Stupid Hybrid,” Silvano hissed in her ear. “Bound to that beast or not you’ll still be mine!”
“Sure whatever but could you not breathe on me. Haven’t you ever heard of brushing your teeth?” She told him with a smirk and he just hissed at her again then shoved her back to the ground slamming her face into the pavement. Her head exploded with pain and her vision went white. Lily felt the warmth of her blood coat side of her face. She tried to pull herself up, but fell back to the ground, her world growing darker as she slipped into unconsciousness.
Lily groaned, her head feeling heavy and like it was full of fire ants. The smell of disinfectant and sanitizer made her nose wrinkle. The smell of hospitals, she thought with disgust. Or at least, something medical, she added, feeling a tinge of panic. This was how Xavier Thompson’s little secret lair where he’d turned into a hybrid smelled. She could almost hear his cold, cruel voice ring in her ears.
“I know it’s painful my dear girl, but it won’t take too long,” Xavier told her in a soothing voice. Tears fell down her face as she squirmed on the metal table and pulled against the restraints her as cries turning into screams.
“Please,” she managed to croak and the doctor smiled coldly at her. “Make… it… stop,” she begged him, panting like a dog on an extremely hot day.
“There is no stopping it Lily, this is your gift,” he told her and another scream ripped through her throat, rage and pain kept growing and growing to impossible limits. She lurched against the restraints again feeling her mind become flooded with pain, she couldn’t think or feel anything that wasn’t pain.
Forcing her eyes open and out of the memory, Lily had squint harshly at the fluorescent lighting, she looked around. Her panic swelled as she saw that she was in fact in an examining room. Holding out her arms, she quickly looked at them and sighed with relief. There weren’t any tubes or marks of injections on her arms. At least, Silvano hadn’t taken blood or worse played with her already screwed up genetics.
