“Actually yes he would Andrew,” James jumped in. “The first time I met him he jumped at the chance to tell me what a loser she was. How she lied, how she tried to get Tony to sleep with her, how she is nothing but trouble,” he told the ex-alpha.
“He was just concerned about her being a human amongst werewolves. He’s seen the ugly side to humans and rarely the good,” Andrew justified. “But warning you against her possible failings is quite different than instigating violence against her which is what the enforcer is suggesting,” he said, his lip curling into a slight scowl. Keon eyed Andrew and started to argue, but Tony held up his hands.
“Enough, bickering about what my uncle is capable of doing or not doing. This is not going to get us anywhere. I respect Keon’s opinions Dad so I’ll bring in Hunter to see what he has to say as far as instigating violence against Lily and lies about some vampire king,” Tony explained and James cleared his throat.
“Actually that is sort of truth,” James stated.
“What do you mean that is sort of truth,” Tony demanded, using his alpha factor and James flinched under its power. He explained what Lily had told him and when he was finished Tony was furious.
“Damn it, Lily! I’m getting tired of her God damn secrets! How long have you known about this James,” he spat, once again pinning James with a glare. James had to resist the urge to growl at his friend.
“I learned about it last night. The pack isn’t in danger from Silvano. If he actually shows up, he will only be concerned with Lily, not the pack,” James told him, allowing his own anger to show. “Don’t forget that Lily works for them. She was ordered into silence. This is supposed to be a low-key mission. I found out by accident,” James snapped.
“But Silvano agreed to not touch her if she didn’t lose control,” Andrew argued and James did growl now.
“Well, he lied. Did you not know he has the biggest chip on his shoulder when it comes to hybrids,” James told him sharply.
“James, watch your tone towards my father,” Tony ordered and James had to clench his jaw tight to keep from saying something he knew he’d regret. “Keon, bring in my uncle immediately. Thanks to him now I can’t officially involve the pack to help my sister from being slaughtered by some corpse king,” Tony barked and Keon nodded, leaving.
“I hate to say this dad,” Tony started with a much calmer expression as he looked at his father. “But if Keon is right and Hunter is causing discord in my pack, I’m going to have to give him a final warning. If he says another negative thing about my sister, he’ll have to leave. I don’t care if he hates Lily, has a bad past with humans, or whatever is his excuse is, but he must accept that she’s a part of this pack! She’s part wolf, my sister, your daughter, and James’s mate!” He finished.
Andrew’s eyes were narrowed and his whole body was tensed tightly, but he nodded quietly. “Do you think you could get me to see the leader of the Aequivalere team here and please tell me it’s not my sister,” Tony asked with a hint of a smile and James returned his smile.
“No, as Lily told me, her job in this mission is to do nothing but play bait. It’s up to the other members to do the dirty work,” he told the alpha which looked as surprised and unbelieving as James did when she told him. “I’ll talk to Lily about getting something set up.”
“Good, it’s about time my job quit being so cushy,” Tony said with a laugh.
“Well as you did pretty much say it the day she came back. Lily sure does know how to make life interesting,” James told him and Tony laughed again, agreeing with James Once the meeting with Tony was over James went straight to the Roberts home. Not only to set up the meeting but he had to be the first to tell Lily about the new turn of events. If she heard it from anyone else, he was sure she’d think he had lied to her and let out the secret.
He knocked on the door and Lily answered, looking surprised to see him. “Shouldn’t you be working?” She asked with a pointed look as if she caught him skipping class or something.
“Something came up and I wanted to be the first to tell you so you didn’t get the wrong idea,” James started and Lily frowned. “The pack and Tony know about Silvano,” he told her and she gawked at him.
“What? How… James, you said you wou-,” She exclaimed and he cut her off, knowing she thought exactly what he was afraid of.
“It wasn’t me…. it was Hunter,” he demanded and Lily was clearly taken back.
“Hunter?” She repeated with an air of stupefaction.
“Keon heard him trash talking about you last night and happened to mention that you were putting everyone in danger because you were being hunted by a vampire king,” James explained and Lily was silent for a moment then he could see anger take over her expression.
“That son of a… why won’t he ever leave me alone,” She growled. “How could he have possibly known about Silvano?”
“I don’t know, but Tony’s called him in to be questioned. I need to let your team leader know what’s going on and Tony wants to talk to them. He’s a bit miffed they didn’t let him know what is going on, but I think he wants to help even if thanks to Hunter, he can’t officially get involved,” James explained.
“Right now communications are slow due to that they’re on Silvano’s trail as we speak but if I can get that technophobe of a succubus to learn how to use a freaking cell phone, then I’ll see if I can’t get in touch with Jessie. She’s the one leading the show,” Lily explained and James did his best not to scowl. He didn’t like Jessie or her tendency to make Lily armed and dangerous.
“Thanks Lily, and I’m really sorry about all this,” James told her. She shrugged and walked out onto the porch, closing the door behind her.
