40 minutes later, the people who had been causing trouble at the club today were taken to the police station, a group of screaming drunks who wanted to keep drinking and a few who had done something to Yanis were separated for questioning.
Yanis had already cooperated with them in taking a statement, and now she was huddled alone on a bench with a sore face. When a kind policewoman brought her a towel wrapped in ice and put it on her face, and Yanis thanked her and curled up quietly with the ice.
Although they had been saved, his mood still had ups and downs. What had just happened was so horrible.
If Miguel hadn’t shown up, today would be….
At the thought, Yanis closed his eyes, not daring to think again.
However, the phone rang at that moment and Yanis was surprised, she pulled it out and looked at the caller ID, it was from the ramen store.
They must have been worried when she hadn’t returned after being gone so long.
Yanis took a deep breath and answered the phone.
-Hello?
-Yanis? Are you okay? Why haven’t you come back after being gone so long? Did something happen?
Brisa stood by the phone and made several anxious inquiries, Mateo, standing beside her, listened and urged her, -Ask your daughter where she is now.
-Yes, yes, yes, Yanis, where are you now?
Yanis looked around and lied to her parents.
-Mom, I’m fine, I’ll be right back, you and dad are in the store, aren’t you? Don’t worry.
She hadn’t been crying, so her voice was normal when she spoke, and she didn’t sound any different at all, except for the slightest hint of escapism in her tone.
-Is she really all right?
Even though she knew the other party couldn’t see, Yanis still flashed a smile, though that smile looked worse than crying.
-It’s really okay mom, don’t worry, I just passed by a jewelry store and found some nice things there, so I plan to buy some more, don’t blame me for being lazy, I’m hanging up now.
Having said that, Yanis hurried to hang up the phone, fearing that if he said too much it would be revealed.
Shortly after hanging up the phone, the sound of slightly hurried footsteps rushed towards her, and Yanis didn’t think much of it, continuing to lightly compress her face with ice and looking at her toes with her eyes lowered.
The next moment, however, a pair of shoes suddenly appeared in front of her, and she was stunned when she raised her head.
The man’s hormonal scent immediately enveloped her, and Yanis looked blankly at the man holding her by the shoulders, who was looking at her seriously.
-Are you all right?
Yanis’ pale lips trembled as she stared incredulously at the man appearing before her.
Handsome in outline, his eyes were normally calm and steady, they were now more than anxious, and his breathing was obviously very unsteady as he spoke to her, exhaling hot breaths that spat in her face.
It was Zain.
Yanis pronounced the visitor’s name in his mind, and was slow to respond.
-What are you doing here?
Was she dreaming, or was she hallucinating that Zain, whom she had not seen for months, had appeared before her eyes?
Zain furrowed his eyebrows and, seeing that she did not answer his question, he pursed his lips in displeasure and, without further ado, tugged her wrist and walked out the door.
Yanis stared in disbelief at the dolls she had grabbed and was pulled forward by Zain like a puppet on a string.
On his way out, he met Miguel, who was walking towards him.
The corners of his lips involuntarily curved upward at the sight of the best friend grabbing a young girl’s wrist in his palm and pulling her outward.
It seemed that all the words said before were just to deceive his best friend….
Only ten minutes after telling Zain what had just happened, the man arrived. And Miguel tried to greet him as he passed by, but the man had a bad face and had no intention of talking to him.
Miguel did not get angry, and when Zain ignored him, he passed by to greet Yanis.
-The statement is done, the police have said you can go, and I happen to have something to do, so let that gentleman send you back.
Yanis wanted to say something, but found herself at a loss for words.
Suddenly she remembered something with a flash of light and stopped, unwilling to go any further.
Noticing her reluctance, Zain had to stop and turn to frown.
-You should go to the hospital now.
Yanis shook his head and withdrew his hand.
-I’m not going to the hospital, I’m fine.
She didn’t suffer any serious physical injury, it was the slap that made her dizzy, probably because she was unlucky, except for a small swelling on her face, she’s fine now.
Zain was speechless.
He stifled his labored breathing and patiently explained to Yanis,
-Check it out, the doctor will decide if there is something wrong.
With that, he stepped forward again to take Yanis’ hand.
However, Yanis reflexively took several steps backwards, avoiding Zain’s touch.
Miguel, on the other side of the room, saw the scene and raised an eyebrow. He was planning to leave, but there seemed to be a good show going on at the moment, so he would have to finish it before he left.
Yanis’ mood was already up and down because of the suddenness of the incident, and she was even more surprised to see Zain here, but even she was stupid enough to understand.
The reason Zain would be here was Miguel, whom she knew.
-You and Mr. Miguel know each other? -She raised her eyes and her gaze fell on Zain’s face.
Zain, for the first time since she said she would not bother him anymore, met her eyes.
Saying nothing, as if he wanted to remain silent, Yanis refused to give up and asked again insistently.
-Say something, you know each other, don’t you?
She looked towards Miguel, who then coughed slightly to hide his embarrassment, before looking away from Yanis.
-Yes.
Finally, Zain came out to admit it.
Yanis froze in place and asked,
-Why, is it because I’m your sister’s best friend? Or is it because you think you rejected me before and it was pathetic to see me like this, so you plan to give me a handout?
At this point in the conversation, it was clear that Yanis was clearly asking about his store.
Miguel had only wanted to see a good show, but now he suddenly felt quite embarrassed, he didn’t expect this girl to think about this store thing, he should have gone first.
At Yanis’ question, Zain wrinkled his brow with his hand and then took two steps closer to her, softening his voice a little,
-Don’t be a delivery girl again, you’re a girl and it’s dangerous to deliver orders.
Not answer the question directly?
-Who are you telling this to? How can I make a living if I don’t deliver? Not everyone is like you and has such a good family,” Yanis said with derision.
