They could have probably slept the night. After an hour and a half, they awaken still in each other’s arms. It had been one of the best love making sessions of both of their lives. They slowly return to the real world. Matt is starving. He is the first up, heading to the shower. Amber is hungry too but is moving a little slower. Enough time has passed to burn off some of the alcohol from the wine they drank earlier. They both are feeling very relaxed.
They freshen up, put on their dinner clothes, and head across the street to the Old General Store. It is a corner building of two stories. It has a balcony running around the second floor like many of the buildings in this era. The front door is right on the corner and set at an angle to both streets.
The bar area occupies the front corner room. It is not large with the bar along the far wall and half a dozen tables in the open area. The restaurant part is off to the right through an arch from the bar area. Matt gets his name on the list for dinner and grabs the last stools at the bar. All the tables are full. This is the middle of the week. Matt thinks the weekends must be packed.
The fancy drink menu is on a single card with several tempting offerings. They have all the normal bar drinks also. Amber has heard so much about the Lemon Drop she has to try it. Matt orders one for each of them. He tells her, “I hope you enjoy the drink, it’s a specialty here.”
“I can see why you love this town.” She checks out the decorations in the bar area. Most are antiques and old pictures. They probably have been hanging on the walls since the gold rush. The Old General Store is right out of the history books.
The Lemon Drops arrive, served in a large martini glass. The glass has sugar on the rim. The drink tastes like lemonade. It is sweet, tart, and yummy. She tells Matt, “This is great.”
“Be careful they will sneak up on you. I don’t want you fading on me later.”
“Do you think we will be able to do it again? That last time was spectacular.”
“Maybe, it is a little known fact, lying butt naked in front of a fireplace can work wonders.”
They finish off their Lemon Drops and then an excellent dinner. Before heading back to the B & B, they stroll down the main street and look at the shops. It has cooled a little. Matt is holding Amber close, to share their warmth.
She tells him, “I think we need to head back and check out the rejuvenation features of that fireplace.”
Back in the room, they take off all their clothes. Matt spreads a blanket and a couple pillows on the floor in front of the fireplace. They lie in each other’s arms. They have had such a full evening; they are both satisfied and content. They only last a short time before they are both asleep. They wake up briefly, and Matt asks her, “Would you be interested in some cock?”
“Give me five minutes, that’s all I ask.” She closes her eyes again.
Two hours later, they wake up. Matt leads her to bed and tucks her in. He snuggles in with her and kisses her on the forehead. Matt is awake a short time thinking about how much he likes Amber. She is the best thing that has happened to him in a long time. He wants their friendship to blossom into more. He drifts off to sleep thinking about her.
In the morning, they have only been awake twenty minutes when their breakfast is brought to the room. It is set on the little table. They grab a cup of coffee first, and then enjoy breakfast while they chat about the evening before. Matt wants to make sure she knows what a nice time he had. “Amber, last night was a special evening. I could not have planned it better.”
“I enjoyed it too. You made it special.”
They smile, finish their breakfast, and get ready to head back home. Amber has an open house in the afternoon she cannot miss. They are both sad the overnighter is over.

Kelly had thought about requesting five more names from the dating match site, but decided she should at least contact the number one guy on the list, John…it would be only fair. They exchange a few emails and pictures, getting to know each other a little. The picture he sent is fine. He is a well-educated professional. Kelly did ask him online about his mother. She is happy to hear his answer that he only lived in his mother’s house to save money, while going to school. John invites her to coffee; Kelly is a little reluctant, at first, from all the lousy mismatches she had. She agrees to a coffee date, thinking she had nothing to lose.
When Kelly gets to the coffee shop, John is already there. He has a table in the corner. On the table is a single rose in a bud vase…the only table with a flower. Kelly is thinking this guy is either a total loser or a total winner. John stands up as she walks up to the table, holds out his hand, and grasps hers firmly but gentle. “Hello, please sit down.” He is tall and handsome. They exchange a few niceties and he asks, “What would you like?”
She actually is hoping he is not talking about coffee. “I would love a decaf cappuccino, the small size, please.” He leaves to get her coffee. It gives Kelly a chance to watch him and think. At least on the surface, he seems too good to be true. He returns with her drink; she thanks him. After he sits down, to get the conversation going, she asks, “You were in school a long time, flunk a lot of classes?” Once out of her mouth she wishes she could grab it and stuff it back in.
He smiles at her dumb joke. “No, actually I passed them all. I had to work my way through school, even with the scholarship I received.”
“What were you studying?”
“I graduated from medical school with a specialty in pediatrics. It took forever. I always worked on the side, and my mom helped with the bills. I didn’t want to run up a big student loan debt.”
Kelly looks around the room. “This isn’t a candid camera trick…is it? Or one of those reality programs?” She is kidding but just barely.
John smiles a little. “With the schooling and work I never had a chance to date much. I still have time to put in at the hospital, but I’m on the home stretch.”
They chat over an hour, have a second cup of coffee, and only stop because he has to get to the hospital. He gives her a little hug on the way out. “Kelly, I’m happy I met you. I hope I can see you again.”
See me again she thinks, you can move in as far as I’m concerned. “Yes, it was nice. Let’s chat on email and plan something.”
Kelly is thinking, John is terrific. John is thinking, Kelly is a goddess.
