Chapter 25

Book:The Villainess Went Back Time Published:2024-5-1

The Knight was only smiling at Brother Lein that made us think that he was a creep. Was he still happy after Lein pulled his hair? What’s there to smile about?
“No, h-he’s just…” I stuttered and don’t know what to reply. I looked at the Knight to tell him with my stares not to say anything and I’d let him pass but I shouldn’t have expected that he would listen to me.
“I just want to see Milady’s legs.” the Knight said bluntly. I don’t know if he still has his sane to him and should I pity him or curse him. Looks like my brothers really misunderstood what the man had said because their eyed widened and mouths gaped in shock.
My brothers went between the Knight and me, raised there arms and blocked me from the young man infront of me. Why do I feel that this Knight was really a monster on their eyes the way they blocked him? Should I be happy or take it as a problem?
But if I would think about the reason he gave to my brothers, the use of his words would really create misunderstandings to children like my brothers who have different minds.
I slapped my forehead. How did we end up on this situation?
“And why do you want to look at our sister’s legs?!” Maxillary asked with a trembling voice who didn’t expected the Knight’s straightforward reply.
“I just want to see if -”
“Gusto niya ako silipan!” I shiuted without thinking, I feared that he might tell them his hypothesis. But because of what I said, I unconsciously closed my eyes because of embarrassment. Oh, Frite, lease forgive me again this time.
“WHAT?!” My three brothers asked, extremely shocked and not just my brothers but also the people who was arrived just now. Familiar and unfamiliar voices that made me frozen.
What the-
“Maxine, what did you just say?” Brother Amo who just came asked with a serious voice.
“What you’ve said, was that true?” Brother Millian asked with a cold and gloomy voice.
“C-can you repeat that?” Dad asked without any glint of emotion.
“My goodness.” Kathelina blurted out as if what I have said was a button of her stress. Beside her was a Knight -wait, why was she with a Knight?
Dad, Brother Amo and Brother Lein looked so cold and gloomy that made everyone froze on their spots. They were silently fuming mad that makes them looked more dangerous than to those who bursts. They almost burn with fire, literally.
I noticed my three brothers jolted at the glum sight and put their arms down to their sides. The green headed Knight stood up from the unpleasant position before kneeling properly infront of the Head of the House.
“I greet the Duke.” he greeted while my father stayed emotionless and only gave the Knight an ominous stare.
“That uniform, isn’t that -”
“Shh.”
I heard the Knights who were with Dad and brothers mumbled something while eyeing the Knight kneeling on the ground but I didn’t heard them clearly. The number of the escort Knights can be counted in fingers and their Captiaian was even there. Do they know what Order this unknown Knight belong?
“What did I heard from my Daughter, Halnois?” the Duke coldly asked the Knight. I was amazed that the soldier didn’t faltered, unlike the others. I immediately got nervous on his reply. Would tell the truth to my father or would he lie?
All I know was there’s no good answer for me. If he told them that my lie was the truth, my conscience would surely pester me because he’d be punished. But if he told them that I was just bluffing then for sure, he would tell them what he guessed.
He would bluntly say without fear that he tried to lift up my dress and because he was suspecting me that there was something wrong at the back of my legs. And right here, right now, they would know that I was being abused by my instructors.
“It’s better to ask Milady herself for the truth, Your Grace.” -and that. That was the hardest thing for me, he neither confessed nor denied. He saved and passed the question to me. What answer would I give Dad if he asked me?
This Knight was playing safe. Tsk.
Dad glanced at my direction for a moment before looking back at the Knight kneeling before him.
“Well then, go back to your quarter.” my Dad commanded and dismissed the Knight. He stood up from kneeling and when he turned his back to the Duke, our eyes met. He bowed a little to our direction like he was bidding ‘goodbye’ but I’m not sure if it’s meant for my brothers and I or only for me.
Or was he telling me ‘good luck’ because he knows that I’d be questioned for sure?
Dad walked towards me. He bent and was about to lift me up but I immediately stepped back twice that made his brows furrowed. Uh-oh. I moved on my instincts.
“I-I’ll walk on my own.” I was nervous but I tried to hide it with a smile. He stared at me for seconds while the Knights brought by my father were already leaving one by one.
His stares at me was only cut by Brother Amo.
“I’ll be beside her, Dad.” Brother Amo said and held my left hand. I looked up at brother and smiled at him. He’s a life saver.
Ugh. I sighed in relief. I thought I was going to die bacause of nervous!
“Thank you, Brother Amo.”
“Me too! Me too! I want to walk beside her!” Maxwell also volunteered while raising his hand like wer’re on a discussion while hopping. He looks like a bunny. I secretly giggled.
“Let me!” Lein refused the latter as if his hand was the one who Maxwell wanted to hold. Lein reached for my hand first that made my youngest older brother frowned.
“You’re really a cheater!” Maxwell accused Brother Lein with his drooped shoulders. My eyes went on Brother Millian. He was looking at me before I caught him but when I caught him staring, he suddenly looked away and started to walk back. He was obviously avoiding me.
Maxillary was nowhere to be found. That’s odd. Maxwell and Maxillary were always together. Maybe he went somewhere?
“Alright.” Daddy finally agreed, nodding after seeing my hands on my brothers’. He stood up and walked infront of us with Maxwell on his side.
Maxwell looked back at me while we were walking. I wondered what he was about to but he just leaned close to me and covered his mouth using his hand to whisper.
“Was that Knight the green ghost?” he whispered that made me giggled but suddenly, I had goosebumps on my nape. I peeked over my shoulder when I felt someone was staring at me but I saw none.
I might just be imagining things because I’m too wary with the snakes.
