Chapter 22

Or when I was watching the knight’s training on the next day…
The wooden sword I used in the punishment was on my hands. I heard, this was the wooden sword Brother Millian, Lein and Amo used on the first two months of their training.
I was planning to learn the basics from the Knights but everyone seems too busy that no one could teach me. They were all having a sparring and it’s only Brother Millian who do not have a partner or it’s just that he don’t want to? He’s training by himself while Amo and Lein were already partners.
I sneaked out to his place, trying to avoid the knight’s adoring look on me. They might not complete their trainings again and gather around me if they see me like they have done a two or three times.
I approached Millian who was busy swinging his sword left and right. I readied my sweet smile before I poked him but my fingers haven’t reached him when he immediately turned around and swung his sword on my direction. Some strands of my hair on the top of my head were cut and I can see them falling slowly infront of my face.
I felt like it all happened in a slow motion. I even heard the sword’s thick sound in the air because of too much force from him.
“Milady!” the Knights near us screamed horridly. Kath who just got back even dropped the basket she was holding because of shock, obviously saw what happened. Knights dropped their swords unconsciously and I even heard their clangs on the ground.
Kath was the first who collapsed on the ground but no one came to her aid..
I froze. My smile froze and my fingers on the air too
Everything froze even those around us.
He wasn’t trying to kill me, right?… Was he?
Millian paused and his eyes slowly landed on me while his hand with the sword was still in the air. His eyes widened in shock and mouth gaped a little.
No one could move. Everyone in the training ground, with no exception became a solid stone on our spot.
Lein collapsed next after a few seconds…and followed by Amo…
And no one also came to their aid because of the Knight’s shock.
Smile Maxine. Smile.
I smiled despite my lips want to fall in the ground, put my trembling fingers behind me before I sighed inside my mind and flashed a brighter smile infront of him.
I smiled despite my lips want to fall in the ground, put my trembling fingers behind me before I sighed inside my mind and flashed a brighter smile infront of him.
His hand and sword fell. Looked down to me with his shocked expression. His face became gloomy and he looked somehow scary… He… He…He…
“H-hello brother!” I greeted him brightly even if my chest was already jumping up and down in nervous. I almost stuttered because of the lump that blocked my throat. If I’m a little higher, I might’ve already lost my head on the way he swung his sword.
His entirety dropped, still in the state of shock. Looks like he’ll gonna breakdown any moment.
Who wouldn’t be like his reaction? He almost beheaded the only treasured woman in this family.
A little push and he’ll fall down on the ground.
“Sorry…” he whispered but I clearly heard him.
“It’s fine Brother! Can you teach me the basics ho-” my words were hanged in midway when he started to slowly walked towards me.
“Brother?” I called him but it’s as if he didn’t heard me at all and continued to his pace. His seems so blank and so, I stood aside to watch him in that state until he passed by me.
His steps became unsteady like a drunken man until…
“BROTHER!”
“YOUNG MASTER!”
…he finally collapsed and fell down on the ground.
The next other day…
I just got out from Dad’s study. My father was busy and the Butler. They have a mountainous pile of papers in the desk so I decided to leave because my cheeks were disturbing Dad from his work.
He even planned to ditch his works to the poor Butler just to oplay with me but I refused..
I’m afraid that the Butler would breakdown in tears if we leave him here alone with this stock filed documents on the desk because my father will leave with me.
When I turned around, I was startled to see Millian and my heart almost jumped out of my chest because of his sudden appearance.
I flashed a smile and my mouth opened to greet him but he suddenly ran fastly as he could and passed me. I even have to close my eyes and my hair was blown away because of how fast he is.
When I looked behind where he ran off to, I didn’t find him nor anyone. My smile fell and frowned.
The following day…
I was sitting in the dense part of the bushes, hiding. I heard Maxwell and Maxilliary would play here this afternoon and an idea popped out of my mind, I want to get them back for what they did. I’ll make them pay back tenfold. Were they intentionally scaring me or not? I don’t know but I already planned to wait for them and scare them.
It’s a shallow revenge of mine and I didn’t really planned it well because it didn’t came to mind at first but because my ‘child instincts’ kicked in, I was here, acting like a child.
I heard something were rustling in the grasses and it was followed by the two voices I’ve been waiting for.
“Look here! There’s a worm! Is it a good present for Maxine?” I heard Maxillary exclaimed in excitement that made me frown. Frightening filthy worms…
“Here, Maxillary! There’s a lot of baby snakes! Maxine will like it!” Maxwell called to his company. Snakes?! I cringed. I will never like it!
When did I liked their insect, amphibians and reptile gifts? Oh my Graces…
What does Maxwell and Maxillary takes me for?!
I could hear their loud voices until their voices slowly became near meaning, they’re also near. When I thought they were already infront of the plant I’m hiding…
“RAAAAAWWWWRRRR!” I jumped out from the bushes and roared to with matching clawing hand gestures in the air to frighten them.
I just found out that Brother Millian was not in the training and with them. He was the one holding the jar of the thins they caught. They just looked at me with an innocent face as if asking me with their face what did I just do.
Okay. Fine.
They weren’t shocked at all. I pouted on the sight of them but Millian suddenly turned his back from us and quickly ran away with their jar without a word after seconds of blinking.
I frowned. Why did he ran away again?
“What happened to him?” Maxillary asked curiously.
“Was he scared?” Maxwell seconded. They don’t have any idea on what’s happening and only I know. He’s avoiding me for an unknown he only knows of.
I poker faced on the outcome of my lame planning. Wass he really avoiding me?
When my two brothers moved on from confusion, they started rummaging my cheeks again.
