“Ha, yeah okay, you helped the women cook at your old pack, you dance like a pro, you help children-”
“Okay!” I cut her off.
“You dance?” Tyler asks, looking up from his papers.
“No,” I mutter giving Katy a death glare.
Katy hits me back with a devilish grin. “She’s the best dancer I’ve ever seen, even better than mom.”
“Your mom dances?” I ask curiously.
“She did, now she just tans on the beaches of Barbados,” Katy answers a bit of annoyed.
“I’ll have to see for myself.” Tyler changes the subject. “I better get going.” He stands up.
“Where?” I ask. I don’t want him to leave.
“I’m going to one our neighboring packs for a meeting about increasing the guards on watch.”
“Why are you increasing guards?” I ask as I shove a piece of pancake in my mouth. Were there more rouge sitings?
“Because not one rouge that works for this leader is getting near you.” Tyler looks me in my eyes; I can see the pain on his face. “I’ll see you, girls, later.” Seconds later I heard the front door shut.
“Okay, the kids should be here any second,” Katy warns me as she cleans up the mess from breakfast. I get up to help her, and five minutes later the doorbell rings.
“I’ll get it!” I call back to Katy as I jog to the door.
I open the front door and I’m greeted by a tall black haired woman who I’m guessing is Farah, and three kids, two boys around ten and eleven, and a little girl around five.
“Hey, I’m Anna, I’m helping Katy.” I greet Farah.
“Oh great!” She smiles. “I’ll be back at 9:30.”
“Okay, come on guys Katy’s in the kitchen.”
The kids run into the house as I wave goodbye to Farah and shut the door. I walk into the kitchen and see the two boys jumping all over the place and the little girl sitting on the cold tiled floor.
“Anna this is Daniel, he’s ten and Derik his twin.” Katy points to the two boys. “And this is Isabel she just turned five.” Katy looks to the little girl giggling on the floor.
“Hi, guys.” I smile.
“Hey, hot stuff,” Daniel smirks.
I stand back in horror, he’s only ten and already a player. Bless their family. “Daniel there’s no way unless you want Alpha Tyler to kick your butt.” Katy laughs.
The kid shakes his head. “Darn.”
I feel I tug on my shirt and I look down to see Isabel.
“Can you pick me up my bums cold.” She asks. She is just the cutest thing. I pick up her up and place her on my lap as I sit on a stool.
“Let’s go to the park!” Derik yells.
“Ya!” Daniel screams.
“Okay, okay we’ll go, just no more screaming,” Katy complains. We all walk down to the park on pack grounds. The boys and Isabel run to the playground as Katy, and I crash on the bench in the park.
“Goddess, they’re so energetic,” Katy whines as we watch them run around chasing each other.
“Help me!” Isabel yells as she runs to us, the boys chasing after her. “They said Raf was going to get me!” She cries as I lift her up on my lap.
“Who’s Raf?” I ask Katy.
“Just some stupid scary monster kids come up with.” Katy brushes it off. I swear she seemed a bit worried.
“Raf is a scary wolf that kills rogues in the woods; he’s a monster!” Isabel explains as she glares at the two boys.
“They even call him the killer in the woods,” Daniel says.
“That’s enough!” Katy scolds them. “Go play!” The kids ran off back to the playground screaming as they played tag.
“You okay Katy?” I ask her a bit worried.
“Yeah, I’m all right.”
Why did she flip out about this Raf person, I have to find out more. Maybe I should ask Tyler later.
After the kids had been tired out, we went back to the pack house for lunch. I made grilled cheese as Katy drew flowers with Isabel, the boys were playing video games in the living room. “Lunch is ready,” I call to the boys in the other room. I grab the plate piled with grilled cheeses and place it in the center of the table.
