WHEN THE SONG ENDED, the audience asked for more.. This time it’s not just the Rexon on the stage, but he have a co-singer–A girl singer.
“So, who exactly was this woman?” Jackilyn mere whisper to me with furrowed brows.
I couldn’t help but watch her closely. Her ebony black hair tumbled over her shoulder. She had shapely figure, but imp-thin body, sat well with her voguish vibrant clothes.
“Please, welcome our very own Brigette Sy!” he simply introduced her to everyone. His face was still warm even his tone is gentler than usual.
He greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, causing the people inside the bar to squeal. I swallowed everything I see, I immediately covered my heart from pain.
“Hello, good evening,” she said in a dulcet tone of voice.
“Brigette!” The crowd chanting her name.
“So, her name is Brigette? Hmm… It’s not beautiful.” Jackilyn commented, then shrug her shoulder a bit.
I kept my gaze on the stage, not wanting to let go of the visible scene. Rexon and Briggette talked for a while as if they were the only two there. I don’t even want jealousy to seem to rise in my heart. I hold my breath and bite my tongue and I felt a sharp pain inside me.
The band played to the accompaniment of melodious music. The girl’s eyes were peachy and her voice was tender and so soft that it could melt a person’s heart. Her singing voice is truly exquisite. I can’t deny that they both have a connection because they are both singers. My chest tightened at the thought, I quickly looked down. Again I had to endure the pain of my body that being torn apart.
Eventually I chose to hold Jacky’s arm tightly to pull away from the crowd to return to my own table. As expected they just quietly watching the two on stage when we arrived.
“In fairness to the woman, her voice is beautiful, huh?” Farrah comments without taking her eyes off them.
I shifted to my seat and smiled over my shoulder. Chosen to drank the glass of brandy in front of me. I could feel Nicholas sitting next to me.
“That’s enough for tonight,” Nicholas said to me, before without saying a word he snatched the glass I was holding from me.
I took a deep breath, and gently curve the corner of my mouth and glance lazily at him.
“I’m not drunk yet, so I can still drink!” I said then force a laugh.
“After what I saw earlier? Maybe it’s better that you don’t drink,” he said without a trace of expression.
I opened my mouth and wanted to speak but in the end I was suppressed by his ferocious glare so I didn’t dare utter another word.
He lowered his voice and asked meekly, “You know that girl?”
I slowly lift up to look at him in the eye. “Brigette?”
He nod without so much immersion. I quickly looked back at the stage before shaking one after another.
He chuckled, and took a slug on his drink. I chose not to pay attention to his reaction and focus again on the stage. They finished singing but Rexon seemed to have no intention of letting go of the conversation.
“They had a good chemistry,” Nicholas stated, before saying in the contents of his glass.
I swallowed what he said, I shouldn’t be affected. I am the girlfriend here. I don’t see anything wrong with talking to his co-singer. But that is not exactly how my heart feels. I guess its my insecurity acting up, because I know I’m not the prettiest, smartest or most fun and exciting girl he met. It’s hard to admit, but I’m jealous, because she’s beautiful and I’m well me.
“Yeah, she’s beautiful and they look good together…” I said, while shaking my head.
A cool palm stroking my head, like he was trying to tame an anger beast of my heart.
“But you have a looks to die for!” A warm voice went through my ears, my whole body tensed up, especially when I felt the touch of my skin on his arm.
I scoffed, “Well, thanks…” I deliberately sat up but it was too late because I already felt its warm palm on my shoulder.
I could not speak immediately. I feel like I’ve lost the feeling of being drunk.
As usual he played with the ends of my hair, so I couldn’t help but sigh. There is also no space separating for us.
“Let’s see, how your boyfriend response to this,” he whispered gently to my ears.
Under the dim light, I could see him with the darkness of rage like a beast seated not far from our table.
Until he stood up with the glass of wine in his hand. He slowly walks towards my direction with his dark narrow eyes.
“Do I have to move in?” Nicholas whispered again, this time his lips touches my skin. He seemed to have expected Rexon’s arrival, without a look of surprised.
I was speechless for a moment and dumbfounded at the same time. I don’t know what to say especially since he fits right on the table where we are now.
Farrah and Jackilyn were very shocked like she’d just seen a ghost but then, she started blushing, while Dillan made a mock.
“Rexon, how are you?!” Dillan immediately stood up and tapped him on the shoulder. The latter just nodded, without even taking his eyes off me.
“Rex!” My lips said.
I finally managed to move to a seat and just as I did, Nicholas sat up without leaving my side.
Jackilyn quickly left my side and asked Rex to sit down but Nicholas spoke.
“Just stay where you are, Jacky.” Nicholas commanded. He unfolded the seat right in front of us next to Dillan, “Please, take a seat Mr. Deltorre.” he ordered.
“Would you mind If I sit next to my girl?” he said calmly, tracing the thin smile on his lips as he turned to Nicholas.
Nicholas gritted his teeth, the two glanced at each other for a moment before letting go.
“Of course,” he replied with an ashen face, without saying a word he stood up and sat down next to Dillan.
Rexon scanned the table first and took a seat right next to mine. I sat stiffly on my seat, I also tightly cupped both palms over my thighs.
The atmosphere in the club almost chilled. No one wants to talk to either of us.
“Let me buy you a drink.” Rexon cracked the Ice between us. He arranged to sit next to me but Nicholas immediately cut him off.
Nicholas shook his head reflexively, “No, you don’t have to, just keep your money as a tip! You sang very well tonight.”
I heard a gnashing teeth of Rex at my side. I couldn’t bear to see how he would compete with Nicholas’s gaze.
“In that case, we’ll just order,” Jackilyn said, then waved to the waiter who immediately approached. I thanked them, as they focused their attention on the waiter who had arrived.
With one fluid movement, I looked up at Rexon. His ghostly, bloodthirsty expression clouded with darkness.
Rex, would you mind we can meet your co-singer earlier? “Dillan joked at him.
He leaned back from his seat then laid his arm behind me, “She’s off limit,” he said without expression.
Off limit? What the fuck?!
“It looks like Dillan had a crush on Brigette, do you think?” Nicholas said with the hint of amusement. There was also a smirk on his lips.
Rexon gives them a mocking laugh, “Just find someone else to fool,” he shut back.
I strongly bit my lower lip because of what he pointed out, I didn’t even want to but draw the pain here in my heart. Just simple as it is, his words had a huge impact in me.
“Look who’s talking…” Nicholas shook his head defiantly.
“I’m definitely stick to one!” Dillan added, with a silly smirked oh his face.
He laughed coldly, he didn’t refute what Nicholas and Dillan said, he paid more attention to what to the glass of wine he was holding earlier.
And suddenly, he look deeply into my eyes. I feel like my heart melted because of his simple stare.
“Are you done messing around?” he spoke softly into my ear.
