I SILENTLY stared out the window of the taxi I was riding in as we crossed the road. Today my job as Carlson’s babysitter is over because Dawzon is already there. It is also good for the two couples to have the opportunity to talk and get along.
Before that, she paid me my salary for the next two months. I didn’t refuse at all, even if I didn’t accept, he would definitely insist on me if I tried to refuse.
I heave a deep sigh, and buried my back at the car chair, now thinking of my imminent return to work. Also tomorrow, I will report to Nicholas for the photo shoot that is not over yet.
I quickly snatched my cellphone from my shoulder bag to dial his number, which was answered immediately after a few rings.
“Cherry!” I smiled cheerfully when I heard his soulful voice over the phone.
“Nicholas, how are you?” I excitedly said, I was suddenly encouraged from hearing his voice.
“I had a fantastic day today, I already heard your voice, how are you?” he asked, he sounds more energized.
“I’m good, um… I’ll re-report tomorrow at work,” I said in my undertone voice.
“Great, be there tomorrow morning at 10 am,” he replied.
“T-thanks,” I said, stuttering words from my mouth. I smiled because he didn’t say anything so I gently pressed the end button before leaning back on the seat. I’m sure he will be many questions for me tomorrow when we meet and I will prepare myself for those questions.
I just raised my back from looking at the billboard from afar. I lean closer to the window to see clearly the billboard hit by the road.
“Logistic band the one big concert,” I whispered. I glanced at the four men on the billboard one by one. They are all fit and fabulous at the picture. I glanced at Jeff holding his guitar, while is Zack standing next to him holding his drum stick. Skye standing with cross arms in front of the piano and lastly I looked up at Rexon.
My lips quivered, heart pounding fast as if he is in front of me, the familiar pain hits me. My eyes turned in to a grimace, I was not happy to see him but my own eyes seemed to be betraying me.
He is wearing his trademark unbuttoned black leather jacket and white plain T-shirt top underneath. His Faded denim jeans and oxford shoes. He was also wearing a guitar while holding the mic stand in his left hand. His unmoving gaze sent shiver down my spine. My heart was beating loud and slow, my body was still not used to the effect he was carrying.
I couldn’t help but gasp and look around at the billboard we had now passed. “Ma’m, it looks like that band made you happy, ah?” Comment by taxi driver.
“Yes?” I have a startled question.
“Even though my daughter is a big fan of that band, you’re kidding, she saved her money for almost eight months just to buy an expensive ticket to their concert.” He shake his head.
I nodded before smiling. The truth is I have nothing to say.
“Do you know how much the ticket is? Oh, you’re sure to be overwhelmed by the amount, ” he added.
“How much is the ticket?” I asked curiously.
“The VIP ticket reached ten thousand, how can we look for it just in case? So, this is my youngest Maria, she really saved up to buy it. It’s a good thing, she has a high grade in school so her sister, who is abroad, sent him the remaining three thousand,” he said and shook his head repeatedly.
I was shaken, that’s how much the price of their ticket reached. But at the same time, I was happy. Its good to know that they inspired others especially young people today because of their popularity. It’s fun to think that people who admire their music have given them the time and attention.
“If you’re going to watch, buy a ticket or you’ll run out!” he said to me.
“I’m not going to watch, then I don’t have that much money for that.” I shook my head again and again before avoiding looking at him. I really have no intention of watching, for what else? just to hurt myself?
****
Why don’t you watch the concert? Are you still his personal assistant right? “Jackilyn asked me with furrowed brows. It’s been night since I got home.
“Before, but I didn’t work with him anymore,” I simply said and laid my back at the bed.
“How do you owe him? Don’t tell me you already paid?!” her eyes rolled at me as she hugged my hotdog pillow.
“It looks like that too, the relationship we have is over,” I whispered and looked away. I don’t want her to see my eyes dim.
She was quiet with my answer, because she knows my feelings toward Rexon.
“What will happen to both of you now?” she arranged to her sit in front of me so I decided to get up and lean on the headboard of my bed.
I sighed in pain. I also shook my head bitterly, “I don’t know…” I bit my lips damn hard, even though I wanted to control my emotions, it seemed like a river was flowing and dripping on my face.
It made me sigh, I knew she worried about me so I forced myself to smile. “What the heck, I’m fine, ” I said softer.
“Are you sure about that? Are you really sure you don’t want to watch their concert? I already bought a VIP ticket, I thought you were going to watch.” she pouted her lips and grim her eyes after.
I know she’s been waiting for the Logistic band’s concert for a long time. What saving did she make just to be able to save and buy a ticket. And I’m sure that she really disappointment when I probably wouldn’t be able to watch together.
“Do you want me to talk to Nicholas to accompany you?” I suggested.
Her eyes wink and blushed her face, “Really best friend?!” Her eyes rolled back at me.
“Um, I’ll just talk to Nicholas about it.” I make sure before smiling.
He just nodded at me, the smile never left her lips since I mentioned Nicholas to him.
“Do you like him?” I couldn’t help but ask.
Her face turned redder and softer, that’s when I knew the answer.
“Hmm, not really. Aside from the fact that he has a lot of money, there are things I don’t like about him,” she sparing answer.
I sighed and nodded. Maybe she didn’t know Nicholas very well yet so she said that.
But I only know one thing, he is a good person and I really admire him for that.
