Dylan knew that Jorge had always wanted to meet Jack, his own great-grandson. Jorge even swooned with excitement at how good Jack had grown that day.
Jorge had the maids prepare a sumptuous meal in advance.
Jack might be able to melt everyone’s heart.
Rachel agreed to attend the dinner for Jack.
Kennedy did not approve of Alice taking care of the ailing Yanis and took her to her room.
-She said, “Put me down, I have to take care of Yanis, she has a fever!
Kennedy put her in the bathroom and whispered, -You’re pregnant, you can’t even take medicine in case you get infected.
-I’m resistant,” Alice said stubbornly.
-For God’s sake,” said Kennedy worriedly. Take a bath, the family doctor will take care of Yanis.
Alice didn’t insist when she heard this.
After all, the doctor could attend to Yanis more professionally, and Alice said with relief, “Okay, I’m going to take a bath, and then you can take Jack home.
Kennedy nodded, handed her the change of clothes and left.
Carlos’ doctor called, the one who had been treating Kennedy’s wounds every day since he had woken up, so they knew each other well.
The doctor arrived soon after and Nathan took her to Yanis and they both wanted to leave.
Zain, who was reading a newspaper on the couch, asked Kennedy, -What are you going to do?
Kennedy looked back at him and said, unnaturally, -To book a hotel.
-You can do it online,” said Zain, believing that Kennedy didn’t have to rush.
Kennedy understood what he was saying and looked at Zain, not expecting the man to know what he was going to do.
-I have something to do, please take care of Alice,” he smiled and said.
Zain said nothing more and read the paper attentively.
Kennedy knew he had accepted and left with Nathan.
When Alice finished bathing and found Zain alone in the living room, she went straight to Yanis.
The doctor greeted her.
They chatted for a while and got to know each other.
Then Alice asked, “Does he have a high fever?
The doctor nodded and said, -Yes, well, it is so cold that you must keep him warm.
Alice was worried, but she was confident that Yanis would recover soon.
-How is he now? When will the fever go away?
-Soon, I don’t know, but he is very delirious,” said the doctor as she gathered her things.
Alice looked at Yanis without saying anything, then went back to her room.
As she passed the living room, she looked at Zain and remembered Nathan’s words.
She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask Zain, but it seemed useless.
-What is it? -Zain asked, putting down the newspaper.
-Aren’t you worried about Yanis?
-Why should I be? -Zain knew that a doctor was attending her.
-If I remember correctly, you called her out of the house, didn’t you? -said Alice, disappointed.
Zain didn’t answer.
-She came back drunk and now she has a fever. And you’re here reading the paper. Don’t you blame yourself at all? I know you don’t like it, but you don’t have to be so cold.
Zain was speechless.
He didn’t expect Alice to be angry, so he froze, not knowing what to say.
-I’m disappointed in you, I really am.
Zain finally said calmly, -What should I do then, why should I cheat on her if I’m not going to be with her?
He paused and looked casually toward Yanis’ room.
-This will be better. She’ll only understand that I’m not for her when she faces reality.
-As you wish.
Alice went back to her room and closed the door.
Zain was left alone, quietly reading the newspaper in the empty living room, as if nothing had happened.
He no longer desired anything but family.
It was then that Alice remembered that she had no idea where Kennedy had gone. The man was in a hurry, as if he had some important business to attend to.
Alice grumbled to herself about Kennedy for a while and got a little hungry.
But she and Zain were the only ones home.
Zain hadn’t eaten yet either, and Alice was so angry she didn’t want to go out.
