He stopped wiping the table and turned around with a smirked on his lips. “I get what you’re pointing at. I can relate.” he said then they laughed. “Okay. Don’t make us eat burn food.” he said then carried his younger sister, Princess. He was taking his sisters a bath when he heard their doorbell rung. He heard JC stepping out of the house. He faced his sisters playing on the bathtub. “Okay enough playing girls. You’re done.” They were about to go downstairs when he saw JC with Prosecutor Leal. “What do you want?” he asked without looking at the person while walking downstairs. “JC, did you finish cooking?” he asked.
“Uh, yes. Girls come here; I cooked your favorite dish. We’ll start our breakfast without you.”
He just nodded then sat down on the bench. “Have a sit.” he said.
He saw him sat down. “I bought some foods and groceries for you and your siblings.”
“I don’t need those. Just direct me to the point and say what you want to say then leave.” he said with a boring look.
He saw him bit his lower lips. “Okay. I’m here to say that Grace is doing good although she’s not yet awake. Her improvements are doing well also. She kept on moving her finger once or twice a week. Let me know if you want to visit.”
“Why should I have to tell you?”
“So, you can visit her. Well, if you’re interested then it’s alright. I just stopped by just to say that and brought you this.” he said then stood-up. “Uh, by the way these things aren’t from me, it’s from her family a token of thanks. I’m just a messenger here.” he added then left him alone.
He was still sitting on the bench with crossed arms, staring at the plastic of groceries. He made a deep sigh and look for the groceries. He smirked. “A token of thanks from her family, all of this, what is he trying to say? Is he trying to fool me or what?” he murmured then looked once again. “But we need these stuffs so I guess it’s not wrong to accept all of these.”
“Aren’t you going to join us here or you’ll stay staring those groceries?” JC asked.
He looked at his brother. “Didn’t you tell that you’ll be eating without me?”
He smiled at him. “Well, they want to eat with you and I can’t feed them both.”
He rolled his eyes. “You don’t need to feed them both.” they went to the kitchen and prepared Princess’ meal. “That’s it then let her eat on her own.” he said then sat down and feed Princess.
One year had passed after the accident when Prosecutor Leal visited him once again on their house. He sighed when he saw him. “What do you want again?” he asked him with a boring look on his face.
“Can I go inside? Or should I just tell you faster?” Prosecutor Leal asked with a smile on his lips.
“Just tell me what is it?”
He saw him made a serious expression and looked around. “I guess, I can’t say it here out loud.” he whispers.
He rolled his eyes and he wide opens the gate. “Come in.”
He smiled at him. “It’s already time. Just step six steps forward, I’ll just let you know that…”
He was startled when Prosecutor Leal pulled him and whispers something. “What?” he asked but he was too late because the young prosecutor was fast.
“That’s a good news, bro.” said JC.
He holds his chest. “You startled me. Don’t appear and talk like you were there that time.”
“But we were here all along.” he said with a tone of matter of fact. “By the way, this news was good, right?”
“What news?”
“The news that Prosecutor said…”
“I haven’t heard it properly.”
“What? You haven’t? Then, why we heard it from here? How come you didn’t?” he spontaneously asked. JC looked at him. “You’re out of this world! What bothers you?”
He bowed down. He can’t looked at his brother’s eyes. “Nothing really matters; it’s just that everything wasn’t absorbed fully.”
He saw his brother nods. “I see… So, you really haven’t heard what he has said?”
“Yes. I’m not interested anyway.” he said then sat down on the tiny chair and pulled the unwanted grasses on their garden.
“Hmm… Then, we’ll be the one who will come to see it ourselves.”
“Where are you going? Hey! You can’t just go with them.” he said with authority.
JC smiled at him. “I’m not the only one. He said if we want to go and visit her, I just have to text him and since he said she’s now awake then I guess; we have to visit and see her.” JC said with teasing look and tone.
He was stunned about what he heard. He didn’t know if he missed hear it or if it’s true. “Wait. What did you say? She’s what? Grace is what?”
He saw a teasing look on his brother. “Come on, girls. Take a bath now and we’ll go visit a good friend of big bro.” he heard him said with a smirked on his lips.
He’s left alone standing at the garden with a confusing expression. He kept on thinking of what Prosecutor Leal whispered. He kicked the basketball ball near him but it bounced back. “Ouch!” he cursed while touching his stomach. “If only I listened of what he said. My brother won’t tease me.” he murmurs.
He saw his siblings are about to go. “Aren’t you coming with us?” he heard him asked. He felt cold water poured unto him when he heard their doorbell rung. He saw his brother smiled and run outside.
“Are you all set?” asked the familiar voice.
