“No need. I can manage to go home.” she said.
“Really? How? You don’t even know the way, where to ride a jeepney.” he frankly asked.
She sigh, she doesn’t have any choice but to ride on his car. He heard him chuckles.
“I’m sorry, don’t worry I won’t do any surprise attack anymore because he’ll surely kill me.” he said.
“No, it’s not about it. I’m just worried that you might have a sleepless night.” she said.
“Oh…” he smiled. “Don’t worry about that. I can sleep whenever I want besides a nap is much better.” he joke on replied.
“Thank you for the ride.” she said. She saw him nod. After she get out on the car, the car speed up and left her near the house where JL temporarily lives. She went inside JL’s room. She can’t help but to think too much. “Who is he is he talking about?” she whispered. She lay down on the bed, she closed her eyes to visualized face of the young professor but he can’t remember his face all she remember was the bonnet he was wearing and a jacket. She kept on thinking and visualizing but she can’t remember anything but those things. “Well, if I were you… I won’t let that guy involved in this kind of situation.” she remembered which made her more curious. “I can’t tell you what I saw, just be careful for the suspect is near.” she can’t help but to think of it. “Oh! Did I woke you up?” she asks JL.
“No. Aren’t you asleep?” he asked.
“I’m not sleepy and I’m not sleeping. By the way, after our day of searching for the witnesses, I’ll go to the hospital.” she said with serious facial expression.
“I’ll go with you.” he voluntary said.
“No. You have to take a rest, I’ll just have to take a look of my body besides I have favor to asks.” she said.
“What favor?” he asked with curiosity look on his face.
“I want you to relax your mind after searching for the witnesses and think of that day. I need you to remember what you saw that day and this time, I need your cooperation.” she replied.
“I’ll just ask that man again when we found him again.” he said.
“No, I guess that won’t work. I think, you knew what you saw yet you just ignore the fact that you, yourself was also a witness. If you could remember just a single or little by little details, it’ll be a big help for me. So, keep on trying to remember what do you remember that day.” she said then smiled. “You should sleep now because it’ll be a long day for us later.” she added then closed her eyes as if she’ll be going to sleep. She kept her eyes close just to calm herself and relax her mind. She needs to think properly and she can’t just take risks always, she have to think also and she have to make some plans in every move she’ll be going to do.
It’s already nine in the evening when she saw a man sat down at the bench stone in front of the university.
“JL, that guy, talk to him.” she said with soft voice.
JL walked towards the bench and sat down. “Dude, can I ask you?” he said.
The person looked at him with boredom. “What?”
“I will ask direct to the point, you were sitting here that day, right? You were here and you saw that incident two weeks ago. What are the things you saw that moment?”
She saw the man looked at JL straight from the eyes. He sighed. “Yeah, you were right. I’m here that moment and I saw everything but only one thing was vividly stayed on my mind.”
“What is it?” JL asked with hopeful look.
“Bracelet.” a straight but a short respond.
“Bracelet?” JL asked with curiosity.
“Yeah, the driver of the motorcycle wore a bracelet. A pink bracelet made with shells and pink beads.”
“Can you describe that bracelet more?” JL asked.
“That’s all I remember.” he said then stood-up and walked. He stopped walking and walked back. “I forgot to tell you that the bracelet fell on the driver’s wrist and someone holds it.” he added.
“Can you tell me where can I find the person who got it?” JL asked.
“I don’t know him but if I’m not mistaken, he’s one of the professor of this university.” he replied then walked away.
“That professor, he’s at… what department?” JL asked once again.
He stopped what he is doing and looked at JL. “I don’t know. By the way, thank you for I won’t have a sleepless night tonight.” he said then rides a jeepney.
“Pink bracelet made with shells and beads?” JL murmured.
“You go home and rest now.” she said then left him without a word. She also knew that JL can’t go to the hospital for a visit because it’s already past nine in the evening. Grace doesn’t want to be rude but she doesn’t like the idea of having JL by her side always. She was just worried about JL’s safety. “If I was you, I won’t let that guy involved in this kind of situation.” it flashed back on her mind. She began to hear the familiar voice again which made her feel dizzy.
“I know, I always say I love you before but this time I want you to know that I never stop loving you. I still love you and I would do my every best out of me just to make you remember me again.”
She was about to open the door when it was opened and there she saw Doctor Jimenez. She saw him a bit shock when their eyes met. She followed him unto his room at the hospital. She saw him a bit upset while lying down at the bed. “How’s your searching?” she heard him asked even though it’s just a whisper.
“It’s fine. So close yet so far.” she said.
She heard the bed sound. “Are you okay?” he asked. “You seem to be not fine.” he added.
“Yeah, I’m a bit dizzy.” she said without looking at him.
“Dizzy?” he asked with curiosity on his voice.
“Yeah, I don’t know. When I heard his voice, I felt dizziness.” she said. “I feel my knees shaking then I began to lose my balance.” she added.
“His voice? Who’s voice?” he asked.
“I don’t know, he whispers yet I can hear him clearly. Every word he says were vivid.” she replied.
“What does he say?” he asked.
“Every word were remarkable yet I can’t say it out loud. It really comes through his heart that makes me weak as if he was talking to me.” she said.
“I see…” he said then sigh.
She looked at him, he was lying on the bed but he wasn’t looking at her. “How’s my body?” she asked.
He turned around and looked at her. “Your body is doing fine. Your brain is working fine. Your heart beat is stable.” he replied.
She smiled at him. “Thank you. I haven’t looked at my body but after what I heard from you, I’m relief.” she said.
He smiled. “You look fine now.” he said.
She heard a phone ring. She saw him looked at the screen of his phone then looked at her. “Go on, answer it.” she said.
He just smiled at her. “Yes?” he said. “Really? Can you verify that? I see…” she heard him say. “By the way…” he said then he looked at her. “Are you sure you can solve it? If not, I can just search for someone else to do it for me.” he said. She heard him chuckled. “As if you’re going to do that…” he said then laughed. “Hey! Are you sure?” he asked with a shock expression. His facial expression begun to changed. “There’s no way I would do that! I’ll just hire someone else then.” he said. She saw him rolled his eyes. “That’s not funny. It’s not funny at all. If I were you, I’ll just do my job instead of messing around with the happiness of other people.” he said then turned off his phone.
